The Divine Healer

I do not want to take your minds away from the precious truths of the Sabbath, but as you look around the world today, you'll realize that it's a hurting world.

Just read the news and you know that we are in a time, if you will, of trouble.

The storm ahead of us is relentless in its fury, my friends.

More important than what is ahead of us is what is within us right now in the church.

But praise the Lord, we can come into his presence with praise.

Jesus says, come into my presence with singing, with Psalms.

More than that, we are told in Zechariah 9, turn ye to the stronghold, ye prisoners of hope.

We do not have to be depressed, my friends.

We do not have to worry because Jesus Christ is our hope.

Apparently, some of you are not suffering, I suppose, and are not hurting.

Prisoners of hope, this is our message, my friends.

Before we begin, I definitely feel my need, and I hope you do as well, for the Spirit of Christ to rest upon us.

So would you bow with me, your heads, as we pray.

Dear Father in heaven, we thank you so much.

He is the 1 that washes us with his word.

He mingles his merits with our unrighteousness.

He is our high priest that presents us before the throne of grace and mercy.

Lord we thank you for Jesus and what he means to us.

Open our eyes that we may behold wondrous things from thy law.

Lord this This morning we just want to thank you for the fact that we can come together on this Sabbath morning and spend some time in your presence.

I pray that as we do this, that we will draw close to your side.

Please forgive us for the sins that we do, the things that hold us, that separate us from your presence.

As we speak this morning, Lord, as we spend time in your Word and as I speak, I pray that the holy angels will bear this message from above through me as this channel.

And may hearts be touched, may hearts be blessed.

Lord, take my life and let it be fully consecrated, oh my God, to Thee is my prayer this morning.

Turn with me to Matthew, Matthew chapter 8.

Matthew chapter 8 verses 14 through 17 is what we're going to be focusing on this morning.

And this message is a precious message that the entire world needs to hear, my friends.

This message is a message that is facing the world, and that is something that we must deal with as a church.

Background here, I'm going to give you the context.

In Matthew 4, Jesus is in the wilderness.

It says in Matthew 4, 11, then the devil leaves him.

It says the devil bore him to the high mountain and to the pinnacle of the temple.

Jesus in the temptation was in the very presence of the devil.

And the devil was the 1 carrying him to all these different spots for the temptation.

It says, and the devil leaves him, and behold, angels come and minister unto him.

I'm giving you context here as to what we're going to be focusing on this morning.

Verse 12, verse chapter 4, now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee.

John the Baptist was imprisoned about a month and a half to 2 months after the baptism of Jesus Christ.

John says, he must increase and I must decrease.

And so we have Jesus moving into Galilee, into Capernaum, and here is where he begins his ministry.

This is where he begins his life as a minister, the 3 and a half years of ministry.

24, jump down to 24, it says, and his fame went throughout all Syria.

He wasn't able to travel as much, but his fame traveled far farther than he did.

Many of us think that this work of the third angel's message needs more missionaries out there, needs more Adventists out there.

It says of the disciples, when the Holy Spirit came upon them on the day of Pentecost they were able to do in 1 day That which they could not have done for themselves in their entire lifetime my friends we need the Holy Spirit.

So Jesus, it says, his fame went throughout Syria and verse 25, and there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and from Judea and from beyond Jordan.

And then we get into Matthew 5, 6, and 7, which is the thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, or rather, it is the Beatitudes as we know it.

That right there is the foundation for the Reformation.

If you Think about it, if you study closely the Sermon on the Mount, all the principles outlaid in the Sermon on the Mount are the principles that Jesus applied in his life, in his ministry.

In Hebrews 9 it says, speaking of the old covenant and moving into the new covenant, Christ's fulfillment, until the time of the Reformation.

Jesus was the first Reformer, not John Wycliffe.

And Matthew 5 through 7 is the foundation upon which Jesus built His life.

That is the foundation that each 1 of us must build our life if we are to finish this work.

Chapter 8, verses 1 through 4, we have a leper.

A leper comes to Jesus and he says, he prays and asks, Lord if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

And the next story is Jesus goes back to Capernaum and he finds or a centurion comes to him in pleading or asking him to come and Heal his servant and Jesus says I will come into your house the servants the centurion says no, I'm not worthy Speak the word only that's a powerful message in there, But we're focusing this morning on the next 4 verses.

And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid and sick of a fever, and he touched her hand.

When Jesus touched the hand of Peter's mother-in-law, what did she feel?

I read a quote, Christ feels the woes of every sufferer.

When evil rend a human frame, evil spirits rend a human frame, Christ feels the curse.

Whenever fever is burning up the life current, He feels the agony.
