It is good to be here with you tonight and through tomorrow.

My wife and I had lived here in Southern California for a number of years.

I love this part of the country except for those earthquakes.

That encouraged us to move over to Arizona for a while.

Been there for just a little over 8 years now.

Longest I've ever stayed in 1 place and ever pastored 1 church, and they still wanna keep me, so you know, that's kinda nice.

Yale University is in New Haven, Connecticut.

We have a number of folks connected with Yale.

In fact, I think it's Sabbath after next.

Encourage the folks to wear their national dress and have a little potluck and bring their national food along.

I always enjoy too getting out and sharing.

I've got a great passion for this message in the Holy Spirit.

Now, I don't know as far as you see in me, I can… if it's easier for me to be a little higher, is it hard for some of you in the back?

And I think you're… is this group called Advent Hope?

You know, I got to thinking about that, and that really fits in with what I'm talking about all weekend, Because the theme of the whole weekend is how we are to get ready for the second coming of Jesus.

And when you, it's interesting when you look at a couple of verses, you know 1 in Revelation 10, 7 talks about when the seventh angel sounds, the mystery of God is going to be finished.

And then when you go over to this text in Colossians 1, verse 27, it says, to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles.

Then he says what the mystery is, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

And so I thought that's kind of apropos for, you know, Advent Hope, and that's what this is all about, is how we can be ready to meet Jesus.

I remember years ago, as I started learning more about, I kind of liked the sciences a bit.

I do have an engineering degree and I like math and so forth.

And I got to thinking, as systematic as God is, you know, they know about the atom.

And back when I first started studying science, they didn't know a whole lot more, but they've learned a lot more about it now.

And I got to think, you know, there must be just 1 basic something that God used to make everything out of.

Where they're trying to collide some protons and they're looking for, I think they call it the God particle.

I thought, you know, God is so systematic.

And I remember, you know, when you're reading the Bible about Abraham, God called Abraham, and God even told Abraham what was going to happen to his descendants.

And he said they were going to be captives and they would be there and he said how long they'd be there and it says when you read their next disc that when God brought Israel it was 430 years and he says he brought them out on the self same day.

Israel being in Babylonian captivity, 70 years, right?

Jesus coming, the first coming of Jesus, the first advent.

It says in Galatians, when the fullness of time came.

And then we know that great prophecy in Daniel that talked about it even predicted his baptism.

In fact, it was that prophecy when I was a senior at Colorado State University, it was that prophecy that convinced me there's a God and that the Bible is His word, because there's a time I doubted that.

And when you look at those prophecies predicting actually when Jesus would be baptized.

He was baptized not a year too soon, not a year too late.

Predicted exactly when he'd be crucified.

The Father is always known when the Son was going to return.

He says no angels know the hour, but who knows the hour?

And you know, I came in during the 60s, and a lot of things were happening back in the 60s.

But I tell you, there's things happening today worldwide.

And the 1 thing that impresses me, You know, when I think about these things, like the tsunami and 9-11 and Katrina, you've got the oil crises, the financial crises.

What I see God saying here is, folks, Look how quickly things can change.

And I believe God is trying to wake us up.

And that's my good news for this weekend.

I don't say that just because I'm an avid pastor.

I believe that with all my heart, and I don't say it simply though because of these signs.

See God is not waiting for more Katrinas.

He can need another earthquake or maybe 5 more of these.
