Death & Life Are In the Power of the Tongue

You know, when we're talking about what we say, we're talking about the mind and our tongue together.

What we say is a product of what our minds are thinking and what we're dwelling on.

Ellen White says in Mind Cure, That is the chapter of Ministry of Healing, page 241.

A very, some very pertinent and precise and powerful statements that are in harmony with the Proverbs text that we've just looked at.

You know, discontented people tend to complain a lot.

Distrustful people tend to be very sad people look what she says all of these things grief anxiety discontent remorse guilt distrust all tend to break down what kind of forces life forces now did you know that we can speak grief we can speak anxiety we can speak discontent we can speak remorse and regret and guilt, and we can speak distrust, and that will tend to break down the life forces and invite decay and death.

To kill, to destroy, or to give life and build up.

Victims of disease, Often because of the power of the mind to self-destruct.

The mind needs to be controlled, she says.

That's in Mind, Character and Personality, Volume 2, page 397.

Did you know you can control your thoughts?

You can decide what you will think on and what you will not.

You see the problem, the problems that we face in this life have to do with incorrect thinking and the negative thoughts that we allow our minds to pursue.

People are sick in this world around us, bearing burdens from their past, bearing weight of unforgiveness, bearing weight of a spirit of criticism and of reproach.

The mind needs to be controlled, for it has a most powerful influence upon the health.

The imagination often misleads, and when indulged, brings severe forms of disease upon the affected.

I'm just bringing together some of these principles taken from a mind, character and personality and elsewhere from the spirit of prophecy that speak about the mind and our need to control it and not it us.

And what goes on to say the opposite here?

Courage, hope, faith, sympathy, love do what?

What we say, what we think, what comes out of our mouth, what is the product of our mind and our thinking will affect us either positively or negatively.

A contented mind, a cheerful spirit is health to the body and strength to the soul.

And Mary's rejoicing heart does good like a medicine.

But you know this aspect of what we say and what we think is often missed by Christians today and we don't realize just how much power there is in it.

Neil Nedley would talk about emotional intelligence.

What will determine how successful you are in life has not got so much to do with your IQ, but with your emotional intelligence.

So you can be less intelligent, but be able to manage your emotions and you will get further in life because of that.

Well, our thoughts and our words will affect our emotions.

If we can control what we think and what we say, we will be happier and more effective people.

And it all has to do with what our thoughts dwell upon.

When it comes, there's a quotation by Dr.

Neil Medley, when it comes to emotions, our feelings result from the messages we give ourselves.

Have you ever been talking to yourself in your brain?

Talk to yourself in your think, then you can talk about people in your brain, and they will know about it.

When it comes to emotions, our feelings result from the messages that we give ourselves.

Your thoughts, listen to this, your thoughts have much more to do with how you feel and what is actually happening around you in life.

So what that is telling us is that we can be in control of our feelings but most often we succumb to this belief that we feel and our feelings are a result of what is going on around us and we've got no control.

You see there are thoughts that are based on what is true and in God's eyes, and then there are thoughts that we think are true.

And you know what the Bible says about what we think is true.

The Bible says, there is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

There is a way that seems right unto a man.

Where does that way seem right to a man but in his mind.

There are things that we think that are right, but they are not, and they lead to death.

They feel that they are not smart enough, successful enough, attractive enough, or talented enough to feel happy and fulfilled.

Or they think that their negative feelings are strictly due to others.

That others, what others have said to them, how others have raised them, etc.

There may be elements of truth because bad things can happen And life can be hard at times.

However, all of these thoughts have the tendency to make us victims when we blame how we feel upon others and upon the circumstances around us.

We have the power to change our thoughts.

Because we think the causes result from something beyond our control.

We can control our thoughts, our emotions.

In contrast, you can change the way you think about things.

You can also change your basic values and beliefs.

And when you do, you will often experience lasting changes to your mood, your outlook, and your productivity.

This is called cognitive behavioral therapy.

We need to line up our beliefs with what is true.

Most of the times, Our thoughts are dwelling upon things that are not true about ourselves and about other people.

And they make us get all upset with ourselves and with others when there's no truth in it.

You know, somebody once said the following, for attractive lips, what should we do?

If Some people worry, I'm not good enough, smart enough, or beautiful enough.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, ladies or men, Share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
