When Righteousness Becomes Sin

We're going to dive into our message this morning and the title is, When Sin, or sorry, When Righteousness Becomes Sin.

I'm going to kneel and ask the Lord's blessing.

Father in Heaven this morning, we invite your presence to be with us.

Father in Heaven this morning, we long to know Jesus more and more deeply than we knew Him yesterday.

And even greater than that, Lord, we don't just long to know more about Jesus, we long to become just like Him.

That our hearts, as they beat, might be in harmony with your heartbeat, that our wills would be in line with your will, that our lives would be a reflection of yours.

And today, Father, we ask that the Spirit of God would speak to our hearts.

As we open the divine pages of Scripture, may they have an impact on us.

May they lead us to become more dedicated Christians, more dedicated Seventh-day Adventist Christians, a people of the book, a faithful people, a people who trust in the righteousness of Christ alone for their hope and their salvation.

Lord God, today we lift up every family in this church, those that are sick, those that are suffering.

Lord, we ask that you would minister to their lives.

We ask that you would bring healing to them.

We ask prayer for all of the families across the world that have suffered through all these recent terror attacks in Dallas and France and countless other places.

And Lord this world is rapidly coming to a close.

May this consume our lives to know You, who is eternal life.

May it consume our lives to be Your people and do Your will.

We ask, Father, today, that You would be real to us.

That we would experience the transforming power of your grace.

We ask it today, Lord, in Jesus' name, that all God's people say, amen.

A man or a woman would have to be an utter fool not to understand that the ends of the earth are upon us and eternity is just before us.

When you look at the world today, it's crumbling.

We've had people in the church that have said, oh well you shouldn't fear monger people.

It's not fear mongering, it's facing reality.

It's knowing that as Seventh-day Adventist Christians, that which we have preached on in prophecy and the book of Daniel and Revelation are now fulfilling before our very eyes.

Just today and this week and this weekend there is an event called Together 2016 taking place in Washington DC this weekend.

And it is evangelical, Protestant Christians from every denomination, from every group, coming together to pray for our nation.

Which I'm thankful that somebody's praying for our nation.

Wanting to come together in unity to break down the dividing lines, to say all that matters is Jesus, and all the doctrines don't mean a hill of beans.

All we need to do is come together in Jesus.

Now listen friends, I want to be in unity.

I'm not against unity and I'll say it, I said it in Sabbath school and I'll say it again, that I'll be willing to unite with any religious leader around the world, including the leader of the Vatican, Pope Francis, if every leader are willing to submit themselves to the truth of God's Word, the truth of Scripture.

And so this group is coming together and Pope Francis will actually be delivering a message via video to this group and their desire is to become 1 and to come back into unity with Rome.

Now this is kind of bold in the beginning of my sermon, I realize this and I don't do this all the time, but friends, prophetic events are coming to place and there is a longing from Christians worldwide to link arms with the power of Rome.

And I'm reminded of Revelation chapter 17 and verse 13 that says these are of 1 mind and they will give their power and authority to the beast.

This is a movement that's taking place now it's actually taking place today You can look it up online and friends this is a fulfillment of everything that we have been preaching for the last 150 years.

Adventist Christians have known these truths for 150 years and my question today is knowing these things, what are we doing about it?

Knowing these things, how is it impacting our lives?

Knowing these things, how are we preparing for eternity?

Will the real Adventists please stand up?

Will the real Adventists please come forward?

Will they speak now that we are in the earth's final judgment hour?

Will we speak now the truth of God to the world?

Will we speak now and proclaim the gospel in its fullness throughout the world?

Or will we continue as a people to chase after idols, to chase after all the things of this life, all the things of this world?

Will we give God our best leftovers, or will we now stand up as his people and put him as the first priority of our lives?

I'm asking you today, Lansing Seventh-day Adventist Church, what will you do?

Because life has plenty of time to do the things of God if we put off the things that are not of God.

Time is running out, but we have plenty of time if we will align ourselves.

Are we too busy loving that which God has said is not for His people?

Are we too busy today chasing our dreams?

Are we too busy keeping that which we've earned?

Are we too busy seeking everything except the will of God?

Because while prophecy is fulfilling, God's people continue to slumber and sleep.

But God is looking for folks who will be awake.

God is looking for people young and old, like the young people of Impact Norway, who recognize the times in which we live and who will rise up and say with 1 voice, we will be God's people.

We will wrestle with Him until we know what it means to be in His presence.

How many of you have wrestled with God this week?

How many of you have spent time on your knees in His presence rather than just praying over your meals?

I'm just, I've got to tell you, I've had a heavy heart this week.

You know the verse, but we want to just break it down for just a minute.

1 John chapter 2, verse 15 to 17 he says, Do not love the world or the things of the world.

If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world.

The world is passing away and the lust of it but he who does the will of God abides for how long?

If you want to live forever, you must surrender ourselves, we must I should say, surrender ourselves to what?

So this morning are you surrendered to the will of God in your life?

Do you even know what the will of God is for your life?

Have you been searching His Word to know His will?

Because only those who abide in the will of God will live forever.

Those who are still in the world are going to be caught up with the world and when it passes away they will also pass away.

Now we've heard this phrase don't love the world all of our lives haven't we those who have grown up in the church don't love the world, don't be of the world, don't get close to the world, stay away from the world, blah blah blah.

But what does it mean to not love the world?
