Why the Jews Misinterpreted Bible Prophecy

Most gracious and merciful Heavenly Father, thank you for answering my prayer the last hour, Lord.

And speaking through me, to where even my own heart was blessed just from reading your word.

Anoint your manservant as he speaks on the essentiality of service.

And I pray that you would put your words in his mouth and that you would bless him tenfold how you blessed me this morning.

And I just pray for this meeting as well that you would do as you've already done.

And continue to show yourself faithful, Lord, for I know that you will be with me through this day now.

So speak again for thy name's sake that your people might be blessed.

The last hour we talked about, we looked at a few passages, we looked at Titus 3, 4, and 5, and we saw that God does 2 things to us when we're in that lost, dark condition.

He reaches out to wash us and to give us the Holy Spirit, and He does this by washing us with the Word of God.

And so we saw the importance of the Word of God, the value of the Word of God, the impact that the Word of God can have on our lives, that we can be made new creatures by the power of the Word of God, the incorruptible seed.

And when we realize how precious and powerful the Bible is, you just get excited to read it, amen?

That should have been a louder amen, amen?

You just get excited to read the Bible and to see, God, what more can you do for me?

I used to liken the Bible to owning a cell phone.

You know, when I grew up, I didn't grow up owning a phone when I was 3 years old like they do nowadays.

I got my first phone when I was like, I was a senior in high school.

I don't know if you guys know what the chocolate is, but it's like this old slide phone.

You know, you're just like, ooh, you're cool, it slides.

And it had like a little light, and that was just the phone to have at that time.

It said, you know, happy birthday, and there was a phone.

And I remember I got it, and I was using it, and I would call people, and I would text people, and that was all I ever did with my phone.

I just called and texted, nothing else with it.

And eventually my brother's like, hey, do you enjoy taking pictures with your phone?

And he starts showing me things the phone can do that I didn't know it can do.

He's like, did you read the book that it came with?

And the more I read the book, now phones are a lot more complicated, they're computers now, they can do so many things.

And I remember I didn't realize how much I had in my hand when I received my cell phone.

I didn't realize all that it was capable of doing.

See, I didn't realize what this book could really do in my life until I sat down and read the owner's manual.

I read it myself and I examined what can it do and like a phone, I mean, if you own an iPhone and all you do is call people, it's kind of a waste of an iPhone, isn't it?

But this is more powerful than an iPhone.

This can do so many more things than an iPhone can.

And so I want to encourage you to give it a try, to study it for yourself, and to see what this book could really do.

So that's what we talked about our first hour, and we saw that this was the work of the Holy Spirit.

He wants to teach you, guide you, transform you, all through the power of the written Word of God.

Today, as we talk about why the Jews misinterpreted Bible prophecy.

I like 3 points, it helps me to not get distracted.

Point number 1, we're gonna first see the principle that history repeats itself.

Now this is a very, very important principle to understand because we naturally think as humans that we're so much better than those people in the past.

We love to look back and say, oh come on, you guys did that?

You complain for the leeks and garlics of Egypt?

Yeah, that's what you say until you're there in the wilderness eating bread every day, right?

And then you're with them saying, where's the garlic at?

Too often we forget history in principle repeats itself.

I started preaching without getting through the 3 points.

Point number 2, we're gonna see the great error of the Jewish people and the mistake that they made and again the reason why we need the first point is to realize that we are in danger of making the same mistake.

And number 3, the remedy, the key that would have unlocked the scripture and prevented them from the great error of misinterpreting Bible prophecy and missing the first advent of the Messiah.

So let's look at the principle in 0.1 of, not repeating in large, history repeats itself.

The Bible says, that which has been is that is what will be.

It gives us the principle that the things that are happening now, it's not new, it's nothing new.

It's already happened before in principle at some point in history.

And it's kind of weird how we keep doing this, how we keep repeating in principle history over and over and over again.

And we know it's not over yet because we know history is gonna repeat itself 1 more time in Revelation 13, isn't it?

That what has happened in Daniel 7 is going to be repeated again at the end of time.

For those that do know, you understand what I'm saying.

This isn't something that we just believe because of the Bible.

Even people in general believe such things.

We learn from history that we do not learn from history.

It's the 1 thing that we learn from history is that mankind seems to not learn from history.

And if we keep repeating it, it's obvious that we're not learning the valuable lessons that we should be learning from the things that have happened in the past.

Another individual says it like this, if history repeats itself and the unexpected always happens, how incapable must man be of learning from experience?

Do You understand what he's saying there?
