Health and Prophecy in the Light of Cutting Edge Science

1. Prophecy, The Gut-Brain Connection and the Cutting Edge

This message was presented at the GYC 2017 conference, Arise, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Well, my name is Chad Cruiser, and my wife is Fadia.

We're going to be going back and forth a bit during the various messages that we are going to be sharing.

And this particular message, yes, thank you.

This particular message is entitled, not this particular message, but the series is Health and Prophecy in the Light of Cutting Edge Science.

So this is, we're gonna be looking at some very exciting things in the field of science.

The first 1 we're gonna be looking at is the Bible and the gut-brain connection.

Powerful information on reversal of depression, some things that most of you probably never heard before.

And also the second message is depression and the cutting edge.

We're going to be looking at things there.

We'll be looking, the third 1 is nature, health.

We should have added nature, health, happiness, country living, and the cutting edge.

Scientific studies showing the benefits for people of all ages and scientific studies mixing in how it can benefit people's health and their mental health, being in touch with nature.

Then we're gonna be looking at disease reversal and the cutting edge, reversing some of the main diseases of society, or at least avoiding them in the first place.

And the last 1 will be health, a vision of what could be and what can be if we partake of it.

So those are the 5 messages we're gonna be looking at.

And before we start, I'll tell you who I am.

And my wife, once again, my name is Chad Cruiser.

My wife and I have a ministry called Anchor Point Films.

We go around to archeologists, historians, theologians, medical professionals, various different people and produce documentary films that establish the validity of the Bible, that share the message that we've been given.

We have 1 documentary particularly on health.

We're going to show you some clips interspersed within these series, looking at 1 of our documentaries called Ancient Health.

But the documentaries are made to establish the validity of the word of God and the messages that we've been given.

But before we begin this particular message, I ask that you would bow your heads with me for a word of prayer.

I can't kneel because the mic won't work if I do, so let's pray.

Heavenly Father, thank you so much for the opportunity to study your word, to study science and health.

We thank you that you've given us your health message, this health message, and I pray that your Holy Spirit would guide us, that you would help us, Lord, to be the healthy, happy people you've created us to be, that we would be a light to society.

Lord, I pray that you would teach us in the name of Jesus, amen.

All right, this first message, the Bible and the gut-brain connection.

Now to begin with, you may not have thought about it this way, but in the book of Daniel, we see the first case that I know of in all of recorded history about the science of the gut-brain connection.

By the way, here's a book called A History of Epidemiologic Methods and Concepts.

I'm guessing you read that quite often, right?

Well, this particular book tells us that Daniel Chapter 1 is possibly the first clinical trial in all of recorded history.

This book looking at the history of epidemiology, the study of disease.

And what they're saying is the first clinical trial that has been found so far is Daniel chapter 1.

This is taken from the United States National Library of Medicine in the National Institutes of Health, the most well-funded health institution on the planet, $26 billion a year right around there for their annual budget.

The title of the paper here is Evolution of Clinical Research.

It's not about evolution, but the growth of clinical research, history before and beyond by James Lind.

It says in 562 before Christ, we find the world's first clinical trial in all of recorded history.

It's found in the book of Daniel in the Bible.

There are some chairs up here in the very front.

You're welcome to come up if anybody wants to find a seat.

So there's at least 3 seats up here in the front if anybody wants to come.

So Daniel chapter 1 is the first recorded scientific study that we know of.

And just a quick overview of it, Daniel chapter 1, Daniel's taken from his city, Jerusalem, to Babylonia in modern day Iraq, outside of the city of Baghdad.

While he's taken there, he's put on a three-year educational system.

While he's given that educational system, he's given the best food the king can offer.

Which in Babylon, what would be the best food?

And so Daniel knows that some of that meat could be either unclean or common and he knows he can't eat it so he says, no, I'm sorry I can't.

And Daniel 1 verse 8 says, but Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with a portion of the king's meat, nor with, there's at least 1 seat right here, if 1 of you, and raise your hand if there's a seat next to you.

Raise your hand if there's, so there's a few seats up here.

So, but Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank.

Therefore, he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not, what?

So, he set up a study, and here it is, prove your servants, test your servants, I beseech you, I plead with you for how long?

10 days, and let them give us pulse to eat and water to drink.

Now pulse are things that are grown from seeds.

So Daniel and his friends choose to go on a special diet, an experimental diet, while the other students of Babylon continued on the standard Babylonian diet.

And as they did, so you have an experimental group, Daniel and his friends, and you have the control group, the other, you know, students in the school of the wise men of Babylon, and we see what happens.

Now at the end of the days that the king said he would bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

And the king communed with them, and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

And in all matters of wisdom and understanding that the king inquired of them, he found them 10 times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all of his realm.

Now, Daniel, what we see is what Daniel ate impacted his cognition, his intellect.

And it just hit me, this video may not work because I think the audio is going to try to Go to that little projector.

Let me see what happens But we're going to show you that a study has been done today to replicate what was done in Daniel's time And we'll see if it works, but I don't think this Yeah, I don't think this is gonna work The difficulty is because once I plug in the HDMI, it will go to… Maybe we can drag that over there.

Hit the button and we'll see where the mic is.

But the main thing that folks should be concerned about is how long you live and how likely you are to get disease.

There have been 3 major studies published on this subject, big meta-analyses.

And these meta-analyses, and only 3 big ones have been published, they show consistently that low carb diets, in other words, low plant food diets, high animal food diets, consistently they show that they're associated with more heart disease and more death, more mortality.

If you look around the world and you look at these people in the blue zones, the average percentage of calories from carbs range from ranges from about 50% to about 80%.

Carbs are not the enemy, refined carbs are the enemy.

There have been a number of recent studies.

Beeshold out of Phoenix, Arizona, first she did an observational study showing that plant-based diet actually significantly improves your depression and anxiety stress score.

So the mood actually is improved when you get the right amount of carbohydrates, but also the right type of carbohydrates and less protein.

Then she followed up with an interventional study, and that's where she took people who are not on a plant-based diet and put them on a plant-based diet for 2 weeks.

She also put them on a plant-based diet plus fish for 2 weeks to see which 1 would be superior.

And it turned out the fish diet wasn't any more superior than the carnivore diet.

But the plant-based diet, significant dramatic changes, statistically significant changes in just 2 weeks in their mental ability.

We see when people go on this diet and drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest, follow these natural remedies that they, it's just like something snaps in their brain and it doesn't take like weeks or months.

2. Depression and the Cutting Edge

All right, let's begin with the word of prayer.

Father in heaven, we just want to thank you so much, Lord, that you've given us all the opportunity to be here together at GYC.

You've given us the privilege of having your word, Lord, and having Jesus as our example.

And Lord, we just pray that you'd give us the strength to walk in the light as he is in the light.

And we ask for your presence, for your Holy Spirit, for we know that we can do nothing without you.

And so we pray for you to be with us here now, that you would guide our words, guide our hearts.

So we're going to focus a little bit more on the depression and the cutting edge science that comes with it, So natural methods of overcoming as well.

If anyone has an empty seat next to them, can you please raise your hands to those that can have an opportunity.

We may have to shut the door because we're not allowed to have extras.

This is a quote, And I'm not sure where it's from.

It says The religion of Christ is not a religion of mere emotion.

You cannot depend on your feelings for an evidence of acceptance with God, for feelings are variable.

You must plant your feet on the promises of God's word and learn to live by faith.

As soon as 1 begins to contemplate his feelings, he is on dangerous ground.

If he feels happy and joyous, then he is very confident and has very pleasing emotions.

There are circumstances that occur which bring depression and sad feelings.

Then the mind will naturally begin to doubt whether the Lord is with him or not.

Now the feelings must not be made the test of the spiritual state.

The word of God is to be our evidence of our true standing before him.

How many times do we actually ourselves feel like this, right, when we're down and discouraged, we are tempted to think, God must be so disappointed in me right now.

When something goes wrong, what's our knee-jerk reaction?

God, what did I do wrong that this is happening to me?

Could you imagine if Paul thought like that all the time?

Just think about his life and the trials he went through.

If we allowed ourselves to get discouraged all the time, every time something comes up, where would Paul have been?

He wouldn't have been walking with Jesus anymore, I can assure you of that.

When Jesus called him, guess what he told him right away?

You will suffer many things for my name's sake.

Wow, how many of us have been called like that?

Most of us just think of the positive aspects of this walk, right?

And like, what a joy it is to serve the Lord.

And Jesus is like, Paul, you're going to suffer a lot for my name's sake.

He said, I forget those things which are behind, and I press forward towards the mark.

And you look at Jesus and his example as well of how he looked forward.

If we relied on our feelings, where would any of us be if we continued that path, right?

Where would any of us be if Jesus relied on his feelings while he was on the cross?

If he had given up because of how he felt, you and I wouldn't be here today.

He relied on his relationship with his father and the word of God.

So it says here, gratitude and well-being associated with life satisfaction and life.

What are the correlations between having gratitude and praise and having well-being and life satisfaction?

Several studies have been done on gratitude and life satisfaction.

They have repeatedly shown that not only are people who exhibit more gratitude happier, but as an intervention, teaching people to count their blessings can be used to enhance people's well-being.

And we're told over and over, count your blessings, right?

We are so prone to thinking negative thoughts.

And we feel like we're being fake, right?

We feel like we're being fake if we count our blessings, if we think positively.

We think, oh, that's just, I'm not being myself, I'm not being real.

But the thing is, we don't naturally do that because we're sinful, right?

And so we have to learn to teach ourselves to think differently.

It has to just, you know, like, I'm working too hard for this.

We have to work hard, fight the good fight of faith like Paul did, right?

Every day we need to die to self daily and allow Jesus to come in.

So seeing that gratitude and praise is good scientifically, right?

Nothing tends more to promote health of body and of soul than does a spirit of gratitude and praise.

So it's not just for the spiritual aspect, but for your health as well.

And it says, It is a positive duty to resist melancholy, discontented thoughts and feelings as much a duty as it is to what?

It is a duty for us to redirect the thoughts to happier and better thoughts, right, to gratitude and praise.

Because if we don't, and we're stuck in our feelings, and we're stuck in our rut of thinking over and over, the negative, negative, and seeing the negative in others, right?

But we're told that it is a positive duty that we have.

Here in Ministry of Healing, it says in page 491, we need a constant sense of the ennobling power of pure thoughts.

The only security for any soul is right thinking.

3. Nature, Health, Country Living and the Cutting Edge

I actually did not get to go outside and I told everybody to do that in the previous seminar, so shame on me.

But Chad did, and he actually went running up and down the stairs, so that's great for him.

Anyway, so we're going to be talking about nature and health and some science behind it.

And what a blessing we have been given in country living.

So, oh yeah, for those of you that don't know if this is your first time in our session, My name is Fadia Kruiser and this is Chad Kruiser sitting in the corner over here.

We've been traveling around together for about 16 years.

Full time, on the road, in our minivan, and we just kind of are at the mercy of people's friendliness, right?

How many of you have heard of anchor point films?

Maybe you've more heard of the products than the film production company itself.

If any of you have seen Scripture Mysteries documentary series, like the 1 on Daniel 2, Daniel 9, The Odyssey, all of these, we are the ones, this husband and wife team are the ones that put these documentaries together.

So that's partly why we're on the road full-time.

Between documentary work and speaking engagements, this is like go, go, go all the time.

And with the speaking engagements, we do things on the gut-brain connection, overcoming habits, addictions, lack of forgiveness.

We do prophecy series, different things like that.

And the Lord has really blessed us with a wonderful ministry.

Just miracles, miracles that we get to do, or get to see, I should say, the Lord does through us.

We were just in Maine in the fall, and We did a prophecy meeting for the month, but before we did the prophecy meeting, we decided the first weekend to do a health series, and it was the gut-brain connection.

We had a Pentecostal pastor and his wife come, and they liked it so much, and they said, we've never seen health brought up from the Bible like this.

And they said, you know, we Pentecostals, we know how to eat.

And then they said, and we're all sick, you know?

And so they said, can you come to our church and do this at our church?

He got another Pentecostal pastor to open up his doors and we came and did the meeting there.

It was such a blessing and we had some of them come to our prophecy meetings because of it.

And they want us to come back up there sometime, you know, if the church has us come back up, which they do, they'll have us come speak there as well.

In short order, the husband and wife saw physical, spiritual, mental changes in their own lives in that short amount of time that they implemented these things.

We were at their church and they're raising their hand.

The doctor says I don't even have to have surgery anymore.

My blood sugars, I was a diabetic and I'm down so low now, it's incredible.

I mean, we're like, Chaz said, we couldn't pay them enough to say this stuff, you know?

And then the lady was talking to a friend from another place and she says, oh, if you're sick, you go find a local Adventist church and they'll heal you.

That's what the Lord wants, is that we're a light to shine that makes people happy, healthy, and open to His Word.

We're not here to punish anybody, hurt anybody, cause them to feel negative.

And you understand, Chad's been talking about over and over, the Lord wants us to be happy.

And happy is what draws people to his word.

And that doesn't mean happy where you're just always laughing and stuff.

He says, Whatever condition I'm in, I'm content.

So with that said, I guess that was a long introduction, huh?

But I just want to let you know the things that the Lord has been doing in our lives, and it's been a real blessing.

So let's have a word of prayer together before we begin.

Father in heaven, I just thank you so much for your wonderful ways, your methods that heal and bring joy and happiness to our lives.

And Lord, we take no self-glorification or anything in these things, Lord.

We know that all things come of you, and we have nothing of ourselves.

And so we thank you for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful work on this planet that you have sacrificed so much for.

And Lord, we ask for your presence now to teach us, to guide us, to help us to live a more full and abundant life.

We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus.

So as you can see, sorry, I'm used to stepping away, so this is a little awkward.

As you can see, this is about nature, health, and country living, okay?

And how science is backing up these things that we've been told for many years.

So we're going to show you a few things between rural living and urban living.

It says 97% of the United States land is rural.

Do you know those numbers were flipped during the Great Depression?

During the Depression, 80% lived in rural areas and 20% in the cities.
