Health & the Holy Spirit

Heaven came down and glory filled my soul.

And in reality that's what this message is about this morning.

I give you greetings from Weimar Center of Health and Education.

There are some exciting things going on at Weimar.

We have established a core of 4 going on there.

That core of 4 means health of body and mind.

Health is a major part of Weimar and of course part of the college as well as the New Start program is developing not only physical health, optimal physical health in every participant, but also optimal mental health and developing emotional intelligence.

We also have academic excellence as a second core.

So excellence in health and also academic excellence.

And then a third core is evangelistic education.

And in fact, every student as well as every faculty member is involved in local soul winning activities.

In fact, if they're not involved in local soul-winning activities, they're not invited back to Weimar the next year, because that's really the purpose of why we're existing, not just a more abundant life here, but a more abundant life for eternity.

And if we don't have people interested in eternity in an active, demonstrated way, then there may be some other place for them in this world, but not at Weimar.

Our faculty actually spend a couple hours a day in physical labor with the students in the gardens, etc.

And this has been kind of a new culture, 1 that our faculty who are very busy, we're teaching the hard sciences there, the pre-med, pre-DENT, pre-PT, we're starting an LVN school next year and we have of course the pastoral training and those type of things but our faculty at first when they realized this was part of the curriculum they say you know We recognize how this can benefit students.

And we are trying to run a lean, efficient operation.

And so there is a lot for the faculty members.

But we showed them the council and said if this is the council we need to try to accomplish it.

And after they were out there a couple hours working with their hands with the students they would come back refreshed, big smiles on their faces, and they would say I am ready to tackle these books and prepare my lessons for the next day.

And so practical physical labor is an important fourth curriculum there at Weimar.

If you're interested more about some of the exciting things happening at Weimar and some of the future, there is a meeting taking place at 05:00.

You can ask some of us who know where that is later on today.

We'll have a Vespers and a little more detail about that.

But this presentation is Health and the Holy Spirit.

Clearing the Channel for the Spirit of God is a subtitle of this presentation, Preparing for God to Work in Us Mightily.

God has some wonderful plans for you individually and for us collectively as a people.

And he wants us to have a lot more power in our work than we currently have.

Christ, this is actually A couple of questions for you here today.

Yes, in fact, the healing ministry at Weimar and even at Loma Linda was not designed by their forefathers of those institutions.

Some said love, someone else gave an indication of where this talk is going.

This comes from the author of the book Desire of Ages and the Library of Congress states to this day it's the most requested biography on the life of Christ and for good reason.

Christ the great teacher had an infinite variety of subjects from which to choose.

In another place she says that he could have said some things scientifically that would have put us far ahead of that field of science today.

Just a sentence or 2 is all he would have had to say and it would have propelled us.

But the 1 upon which he dwelt most largely was what?

Which, What great things he predicted for the church because of this endowment.

An occasional discourse is given upon the Holy Spirit and then the subject is left for after consideration.

He would like us to learn more about the Spirit.

Well in starting out this message, I'd like to ask you the question, are you ready for a disappointment?

There have been those, I know there's at least 1 in this audience, and I know there has to be many more that have suffered a significant disappointment recently, a major setback in their life.

But 1 of the things the Bible is pretty clear about, for every disappointment, if we take hold of God's plan and advance spiritually, there will be an appointment.

The book of Daniel, every chapter starts out with a major disappointment and ends with an appointment.

And there's a spiritual key that transforms it from disappointment to appointment.

And in speaking of this subject here today, there was something quite disappointing that Christ said.

In fact, here is, I think, 1 of the most disappointing things that he said while he was here on this earth.

And when I think about it, I myself am disappointed in the implications of this verse.

John chapter 16, I have still many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them or to take them upon you or to grasp them now.

He would have loved to share with them more truths, far more advancing truths than what he was able to share with them.

And why were they not ready to receive it?

They were still struggling with some pretty basic Christianity issues.

They were struggling with things that impaired their ability to be able to grasp and comprehend more truth.

Now he just didn't spell it out there for him.

You know, we're not just to speak truth without knowing where people are at.

Sometimes if we give people more advanced truth than what they're able to bear, we can set them back.

And so he knew it was dangerous for them to learn those truths, but as thinking upon that verse I thought if only the disciples were ready, Think of how much more truth we would understand in the Christian world today if only they were ready.

But then the very next verse, he gives us the appointment.

But when he, the Spirit of Truth, the truth-giving Spirit, is what it says in parentheses.

It tries to get to the original Greek words and give you the whole meaning there.

When He, the Spirit of Truth, the truth-giving Spirit, comes, he will guide you into all the truth, the whole full truth.

He is saying that even though I couldn't share it with them, they will be able to learn it later on, and we will be able to learn it later on.

And how will we be able to learn those advanced truths?

And having our minds and hearts in a condition to be able to receive that full and deep and complete truth.

In speaking of truth, I've been criticized by a few, I think, well-meaning Christians who know some advanced truth because in some of my writings I have written a lot in regards to studies that come from secular and even agnostic and atheistic authors.

In the medical literature, etc., of course, there's a lot of atheists and agnostics there.

But in the book Education, which when I was going to medical school here at Loma Linda years ago, the Secretary of Education in California stated it was far ahead of its time, that book, and if it were incorporated into California's classrooms, they would lead the world in education.

If only the rest of the educational world had incorporated those words.

But as the moon and stars of our solar system shine by the reflected light of the sun, so as far as their teaching is what?

True, do the world's great thinkers reflect the rays of the Son of Righteousness.
