Evolution and the Sabbath

It's so good to see each of you here today as we are getting into another presentation in our Revelation of Hope series.

Our study today is about God's sign of allegiance in earth's last or final conflict.

Let me begin our study today by simply saying that God has left his fingerprints, if you please, throughout our galaxies and throughout our universe.

In fact, even scientists in this secular materialistic scientific atheistic age are saying That's where He walks and He lives.

Some are saying everywhere, regardless of what you believe, regardless of your mindset as to our origin, wherever we look today, we see evidence of a Creator God.

We see a God that shaped, if you please, our very universe.

What I'm saying, beloved, is we did not evolve.

We are not some accidental combination of molecules that came together in space.

We're not some random combination of genes and chromosomes that just took a liking to each other, got together and made us.

We were created by a loving God who has a specific plan for our lives.

In fact, may I suggest, beloved, before you and I even existed in our mother's womb, we existed in the mind of God.

In fact, I'd like to suggest today that God fashioned you, God shaped you, He created you, and He loves you.

And in the book of Revelation, He's calling us back to worship Him as our Creator and Lord.

In Revelation 10, verse 6, it says this about God.

He's the 1 who created the heavens and the things that are in it.

He created the earth and the things that are in it.

And the sea and the things that are in it.

As the Creator of all these things, Can you see why God is worthy of our worship?

Do you see why He is worthy of our praise today?

God is worthy of our praise because He made us.

God then is worthy of our worship because He has given us life and He sustains our life even at this very moment in time.

And that's why we should give Him back, if you please, our worship, our praise and our honor.

That's why we've come here today to worship Him, to praise Him, to honor Him, because in Him we move and have our very being.

But I have another question this morning.

How did we as a Christian nation ever lose this concept of God as our Creator?

In other words, what caused us to begin moving away from the Genesis story of creation.

Before I tell you, I need to tell you something else.

Go with me in your mind's eye if you would back in another generation or 2.

A young man by the name of William Miller made this covenant with God and I might say in 1831 he wasn't that young, but in his younger year he was fascinated with the Bible, but was skeptical of it.

Even though he had some deist friends, he was not willing to acknowledge that there was a God.

And yet, he was intrigued and fascinated by the Word of God.

And in his younger life, he finally reached a point where he began to study the Word of God, and I mean he studied it differently than most of us.

What William Miller did, he took it from Genesis chapter 1 and verse 1 and went verse by verse through the entire Word of God clear through the book of Revelation 22.

And he developed a means of interpreting the Word of God which was rather interesting.

He allowed the Word of God to interpret itself.

He said if this really is the Word of God as some purport it to be, then allow God to interpret His own book so that we can understand it.

And over a number of years of in-depth study with his concordance, looking up 1 text after another and comparing them with all of the other texts he could find in Scripture, he allowed the Bible to interpret itself.

And when 1831 came, this man was ready to do something that was unheard of in his life.

There was no way that William Miller would ever stand in front of a group of people and preach or teach or share the Word of God.

That just would never happen in his life until 1831.

In 1831 this man William Miller made this covenant with God in prayer alone he prayed this prayer and I'm quoting, If I should have an invitation to speak publicly in any place, I will go and tell them what I find in the Bible about the Lord's coming." He was convicted that something awesome was about to take place in this nation in 1831 and shortly thereafter.

Now interestingly enough as he's making this prayer, I will go and tell them in any place at any time if you open the door.

And he was confident that God wouldn't open the door.

But what he didn't realize as he was praying that very prayer, there was a young man on his way to William Miller's house to ask him if he would be willing to share the very things that he had been studying the very next day.

This prayer of William Miller opened up the greatest religious revival in American history.

And there was a war that took place in the spiritual world between the God of the book we call the Bible and the 1 the Bible reveals as opposed to the Word of God, the individual today we call Satan.

And so Satan declared war on this man, may I suggest, and on that message that he had to share to this world.

Not only that Jesus was coming again, but that the Word of God can be relied upon as gospel truth.

The enemy of God, this individual I just mentioned, this satanic force, this once angelic being we call Satan today, He had been watching William Miller undoubtedly, because he watches you and me too.

He knows how to tempt us, how to test us, how to try us, how to deceive us if possible.

And the enemy of God had been watching Miller as he studied God's Word.

And he was there when he made the prayer and knew he had to do something.

And so he set out to refute what William Miller was about to start preaching.

And this is the story of Satan's counterattack on the Word of God, the Bible.

The very year that William Miller praised, Lord, wherever, whenever, just let me know.

In that same year, 1831, beloved, that is not a coincidence, Satan went to work.

In that same year, 1831, a British ship, known as the Beagle, made an epic or historical journey.

The ship came across a series of islands called the Galapagos Islands.

On board the Beagle was a young scientist by the name of, do you have any idea?

He was fascinated by the great variety of species of birds that were on these islands.

He was amazed as he gathered the information on the different birds.

The variety absolutely astounded and astonished him.

He also noticed that Turtles showed a great deal of variety or differences within the same species.

But ideas began to come to his mind, and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out where they were coming from.

But these thoughts led him eventually to promote a radical different view of creation.

Darwin believed that the variety he saw in this chain of islands was an indication that the species had evolved or changed over long periods of time.

It was a pretty good theory when you really think about it because nobody was around a million years ago.

Almost sounds like a good argument, but beloved, according to God's word, I know somebody who was here a million years ago.

And the only 1 that was here a million years ago was God.

And He recorded the truth from His own personal testimony.

Darwin's is a theory that we teach today as though it were truth.

But Darwin, as he listens to this philosophy that he's evolving now into, he says if this is true, if you'll notice this is true, then God and creation no longer seem to be necessary.

And thus Darwin began to teach that natural law was the reason for our existence.

And by this new theory, he ruled out an all-powerful Creator God.

In fact, his book, The Origin of the Species, transformed the way millions looked at our world.

And what a unique time in history for this to come out.

At the very time William Miller and the Advent movement was swelling throughout the United States of America, confirming that there was a Creator, confirming that there was a God, Darwin was putting out a book to discredit God completely.

In Darwin's sixth edition of his book, he not only had no place for God, he had no place for certain races of men.

In other words, if 1 does not believe in a creator, then equality among people is definitely not important.
