I grew up, my parents made lots of mistakes with money.

It looked like normal, it looked like the right decisions.

I remember having a conversation with my father about hey dad Maybe you should go to college and he's like, I don't know.

So he really didn't see a lot of potential He didn't see a lot of a lot of Good decisions being made with money Why is that?

Because his parents His mother because he grew up with a single mother Was just trying to feed the kids and she counted that as It is good success right Touchdown.

She counted that as good, so she really didn't know.

And I began to think about that and I realized it is a systemic problem that many households don't know.

If you're a young man who is here, I hope, honestly, more than anybody else that you would pay attention because you have the most potential to live a different life than actually than your family.

If you are an older person with a little bit of experience, maybe the advice that you're going to hear today could be a help to your family members And to your grandkids or kids.

We are grateful Lord for this day We pray to your father that as we delve into this subject That your Holy Spirit would be here and that you would teach us now in Jesus name.

I know that right now you're saying, I don't really think, have you seen my paycheck?

I don't think that the Lord has given me treasure.

Actually, It's interestingly enough, God has probably given you exactly what you need.

I've seen some people who make lots more but don't have anything really to show for it.

I've seen some people who make a lot less, but wisely managed.

How much money is made on average in a lifetime?

I'm not saying high, I'm not saying low, I'm saying on average.

Actually, you guys are good in this room You you make approximately 2 million dollars on average in a lifetime And that blew my mind.

I said, 2000000 dollars going through this hand.

Mind you, it's not all coming all at once.

That that much money will go through our hands in a lifetime.

And in some cases, more, in some cases, less, right?

But it's mind blowing a little bit, right?

Let me share with you some spiritual side to it before we get to the practical side of things The Bible says in Matthew 6 24 no 1 can serve 2 masters Either he will hate 1 and love the other or he will be devoted to 1 and despise the other you cannot serve both God and money.

By the way, the Bible has a lot of advice to give on managing finances.

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Actually that's the wrong word, it's not servant to the lender, it's slave to the lender.

Anybody ever want anybody want to sign up for slavery?

Okay, you might say obviously nobody raised their hand, Right?

Yet we sign up for it all the time in the form of a little plastic card with extortion interest rates.

I believe it's actually possible to live without credit Completely and that you are actually not in need of a FICO score.

I believe that I Can show you All right Romans 13 8 this is what it says about debt This is the only favorable thing it says about that.

Let no debt remain outstanding except the continuing debt to love 1 another For he who loves his fellow man has fulfilled the law That's the only debt in the whole Bible that the Bible speaks favorably of.

Let me share something else with you that I found out.

It says this, for you must see that 1 should not manage his affairs in a way that will incur debt.

When 1 becomes involved in debt, he is in 1 of Satan's nets, which he sets for Souls.

In short, when you're in debt, debt has you with its hand around the neck, and you become its complete slave, violating conscience and will in order to meet your financial responsibilities.

Wouldn't it be better to live free, free of debt completely, and be able to go, I'm going to chart the course for my life.

I don't have all this debt hanging over my head trying to control the decision that I make Are you following what I'm saying?

Yeah, I Like this 1 Proverbs 13 verse 11 it says dishonest money dwindles away but he who gathers money little by little, what does it say?

I mean now some of you are probably stronger and can show me a bigger bicep muscle but how strong and how big is your savings muscle?

If you talk to the generation past, right, the baby boomers, many of them would have said pay yourself first, right?

And it almost seems like an impossible concept, but guess what?

If you make it part of your spending plan, it all works out Very, very well.

You know what I'm doing that I'm so proud of?

I'm teaching him out of every paycheck you're gonna save a certain percent.

Out of every paycheck you're gonna give a certain percent, Right?

This is the way that we're supposed to live, right?

Out of a certain paycheck, you're going to save up for your retirement.
