The Third Angel’s Message - The Image of the Beast

Father in heaven, thank you for this time.

Thank you Lord that we can gather together to come and study together.

And more than anything else Lord, as we are gathered, you promised where 2 or 3 are gathered in your name that you would be with them in their midst.

Lord, there is more than that this morning.

I pray Lord that you would grace us with your presence, that you would fill each and every 1 of us with your Holy Spirit, that you convict us, that you convert us, that you would guide us, that you would show us our duty today, that through this message Lord we would see clearer how we need to get our lives in harmony and right with Thee.

Lead us to that end, O Lord, for truly we are living in the end of times.

Revelation chapter 14 the third angel's message starting in verse 9.

Revelation 14 verse 9 the Bible says and the third angel followed them saying with a loud voice If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation, and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb." Friends, 1 of the most solemn warnings that you'll ever find in the Bible.

You either receive the seal of God, you're worshiping the creator in the first angel's message, or you will worship the beast and his image and receive the mark of the beast.

Let's go back 1 chapter to Revelation chapter 13.

Revelation chapter 13, starting in verse 1.

The Bible says this, And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having 7 heads and 10 horns, and upon his horns 10 crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion.

And the dragon gave him his power and his seat and great authority." Who is this power, friends?

It has the same characteristics as what we call the little horn in Daniel chapter 7.

This is none other than the Antichrist of Bible prophecy, the Roman Catholic church.

In Revelation 13, all I need to do is give you 1 characteristic and this will seal our understanding of this power.

Now, if you've never studied Daniel 7 and you're wondering why I say this, you have to go back there and look in Daniel 7 for there are 10 identifying marks there.

But I'm just going to give you 1 from Revelation 13 that will help you to understand that this Antichrist of Bible prophecy is the Catholic Church.

Revelation 13 and verse 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies and power was given unto him to continue 40 and 2 months Friends, this power would speak great things and what?

Now what is blasphemy according to the Bible?

Let's turn to the Bible, keep your finger there in Revelation, we're going to come right back.

Luke 5, 21, the Bible says this, And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies?

They got their definition right, the Pharisees.

They were accusing Jesus of blasphemy because he said to someone, man thy sins be forgiven you, and they thought Jesus was speaking blasphemy, but he wasn't.

He could forgive sins because He was God in the flesh.

And friends, there is only 1 power on this earth that claims they have the power to forgive sins.

That is none other than the Roman Catholic Church.

Revelation 13 we read verse 1 and 2 now we're gonna read verse 3.

And I saw 1 of its heads as it were wounded to death.

Friends, that deadly wound took place in 1798.

Now, if you're listening to this and all these dates don't make sense to you and the understanding of this Roman Catholic Church makes no sense to you.

I've not done a study on the book of Daniel with all of you, but I do want to suggest you go back to your local church, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, look for a pastor, look for your elder, ask them to teach you about Daniel chapter 7, okay?

That will make sense because then you will understand in 1798 what happened, what really happened there.

Look, they received a deadly wound, The Pope was put into prison a few years earlier.

He would die there and thus papal supremacy would stop.

The Catholic Church had been persecuting for 1260 years and in 1798 that reign in a sense would come to an end.

The Catholic Church will continue as a church, but no longer as the power that it used to be to be able to kill people by controlling kings and nations.

But notice what it says in Revelation 13 verse 3.

1 of its heads were wounded unto death, but then it says its deadly wound would be healed and all the world would wonder after the beast.

Worship, to worship the beast is associated with the worship of the Roman Catholic Church at the end of time.

Does it mean that all Catholics are lost?

In Revelation 13, when we talk about worship, what we really talk about here is forced worship.

Has the mark of the beast come upon all of us yet?

No, not a single person Has the mark of the beast come upon all of us yet?

No, not a single person has the mark of the beast yet.

Revelation 13 verse 15, And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

But notice here, it does not talk about the beast.

And friends, what is the image of the beast?

This is what we need to understand this morning.

We know that it's linked to the first beast of Revelation 13, verse 1 and 2 that we just read.

It is linked to the Roman Catholic Church.

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast, saying to them that dwell on the earth that they should make an image to the beast, which had a wound by a sword and did live.

The beast that had the wound by a sword was back in verse 1, 2, and 3.

Remember it received a deadly wound but yet 1 day it would live again.

The image of the beast is the image of the Roman Catholic Church.

Because in Revelation 13, there is a second beast.

There are 2 beasts in Revelation 13 and an image of the beast, which is the image of the first beast, the image of the Catholic Church.

Look, a beast in the Bible, it represents a worldwide kingdom.

China was certainly in existence at that time.

But it's not talking about just any kingdom and any beast.

It represents a kingdom that ruled the then known world.

And this beast in Revelation 13 is a lamb-like beast.

I just want to give you 1 characteristic.

And if you want to debate on this, I can come back and study with you 5 characteristics of this beast to make it clear beyond any unreasonable doubt.
