God’s Plan Our Plan

Father in heaven, thank you so much for this time that we have.

Thank you that we can come and study together.

And I pray now, O Lord, that you'd please be with us, guide us with your Holy Spirit, help us to understand the message that you have for us.

May it be your words, may it be your thoughts, Lord, speak through me, use me as an instrument in your hand, that truly we might understand your will and your plan for us this day.

In Matthew chapter 7 and starting in verse 21, the Bible says this, Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.

But he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?

And in thy name cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works.

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Friends, are you doing what God wants you to do today?

You know, the characteristic of those that would be living at the end of time according to Matthew 7 is that they would do the will of the Father which is in heaven.

Look, God's will is not just simply about going to church and performing works and that's it.

These people, they cast out evil spirits, they preach, they do all sorts of stuff but yet Jesus at the end of the day says I don't know you.

Further along in Matthew chapter 6 verse 9 to 10 speaking about the Lord's Prayer look at what it says here.

After this manner therefore pray ye, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.

If we are to do the will of God, we got to pray the will of God that it would be done on earth just as it is in heaven.

This is something that we have to pray for on a daily basis because it is every day that we got to be walking in the will of God that we got to make sure that we are walking in His will.

Thy will be done in earth even as it is in heaven.

What is it that He wants you to do today?

Now the God of peace that brought again the dead of our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work, for what reason?

To do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.

You know, friends, Jesus, He died, He resurrected, and so for what reason that He could make us perfect that we would do His will.

How do you know this morning that what you're doing right now is what God wants you to do?

Well, in Isaiah 30 and verse 21, the Bible says, and thine ears shall hear a word behind thee saying, this is the way, walk ye in it.

When you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.

Friends, how do you know that that voice that you hear in your heart and your mind is the voice of Jesus?

How do you know that that isn't the voice of Satan?

Are you sure that right now where you sit or where you stand or wherever you are, that that is where God wants you to be.

I find that when it comes to the will of God, to understand what God's planned for us, many of us, we leave it down to guesswork.

In actual fact, many of us, we're not sure.

We look for human support, human confirmation that you know we go talk to people and get advice and we seek for those words that come out where people would say if I were in your position I would do this or I would do that or that's exactly what I would be doing.

And so we seek too often for human counsel because it's much easier than doing it the right way.

We look for family that supports us or someone that seems holy.

It seems like that's what they said, that's what I should do.

You know, friends, it's dangerous to take human counsel.

The Bible tells us, look, in the multitude of counsel, yes, there's safety, But we can't ever just rely on human counsel for God's will.

It should never ever, ever be our first option.

In 2 Samuel 7, King David, Look at what he wants to do.

Chapter 7 verse 1, And it came to pass when the king sat in the house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies, that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains and Nathan said to the king go do all that is in thine heart for the Lord is with thee what was King David trying to say I dwell in a house and the Lord's house, the Ark of the Covenant, isn't a tent.

I want to give it a permanent resting place.

That is basically what he was saying to Nathan the prophet and Nathan he says, I get it, I know what you're saying.

When you read it yourself, Nathan, he goes back and that night he has a dream, he has a vision and God says, Nathan, That's not what my plan is.

You go back and tell King David, he is not going to build the house of God.

His son Solomon will build the temple for me.

And so we got to be careful with human counsel alone.

We are human, yes, even prophets are human.

And, you know, it comes from a good place with good intentions and good people that walk with Jesus.

I'm not saying that Nathan gave a really bad advice that if David had built it, it would have been wrong and sinful.

At best, humans are humans and we make mistakes.

And so we got to be careful with human counsel.

You know, Jesus says in John chapter 10, starting in verse 1, "'Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

To him the porter openeth, and the sheep hear His voice, and He calleth His own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

And when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice.

As sheep, we have to understand the voice of the Good Shepherd.

In verse 27, it says also, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Friends, do you know the voice of the Good Shepherd?

Do you know whether that voice is the voice of Jesus or the voice of Satan?

Do you understand how God wants to guide you so intimately and so carefully?

Why is it so important to understand God's will?

Why is it important to know His will and to do it?

Well friends, I want to share with you this really important quote that really is the basis of why we are studying this this morning.

It's found in Ministry of Healing 473 paragraph 3.

Often our plans fail that God's plans for us may succeed.

And I want you to underscore that word often.
