Well, let's pray together before we open God's Word.

Father in Heaven, we're thankful today that we can come, and we're thankful that we're safe amidst the various fires.

We've not heard of a loss of life in our church congregation or among believers.

We're reminded that The Bible says that our God is a consuming fire, and we kind of understand the power of that after this last week.

And we're thankful that you do not want to consume us, but that you have been consumed for us.

As we think about your awesome power, that Looking at you would transcend the normal view we have of life, just as the special number reminded us today, that we could look at things through your lens in Christ's name we pray Our God is an awesome God He reigns from heaven above with wisdom, power, and love.

Come on up here and play it and we'll sing it.

All right, let's try it again in the right key.

Hide and pout, our God is an awesome God.

Man, you made me go up high there, Jonathan.

And I listened to that song last night in preparing for today's message.

And by the way, if I see anybody sleeping, we're going to sing Our God is an Awesome God.

At any time, we're going to break out on that chorus.

And you know, this whole idea of this song, I listened to it last night, and it's the same thing.

They sing it again and again and again and again, and some of my family says, can't they come up with any different lyrics?

And you know, the more I thought about that, I said, you know what, they probably shouldn't come up with any more lyrics.

Because if our God is an awesome God, that's enough.

The problem is that we come up with other lyrics.

We come up with other things because we think we're kind of awesome.

And whenever we lose the idea that God is awesome, that means we think something we do or something we've done is awesome.

So today I want to remind us of the fact that God is an awesome God.

He reigns from heaven above with wisdom power and love our God is an awesome God.

How many of you have met someone that just loves something so much they can't stop talking about it?

And no matter what you say they are still talking about it.

You can't shift them away from the focus of what they're talking about.

I remember when I was dating Luminita, my ex-fiancée, And everybody I'd talk about, I was just talking about Luminita.

In fact, I knew where she was at all times.

I was a stalker before that term was there.

I actually had a friend in the computer part of the university that knew where all her classes were and where she should be at all times.

And then I was always exactly where she would be, like, hi, how are you doing?

She goes, isn't your class like in another universe on across the campus?

So this focus, some people have this focus on another person, some people have this focus on sports.

Have you met someone that knows all the statistics and everything about every single baseball player there is?

Maybe they know everything about the Olympics.

And a person that talks about something all the time, we sometimes call a fanatic.

And when I heard that song last night, I was listening, Our God is an Awesome God, and I was like, these guys are fanatics, they just keep singing it over and over again.

That's probably because they did not know the psalm in the Bible that talks about the awesome God.

It has more lyrics, Would you like to look at it?

And in fact, this Psalm is talking about the awesomeness of God using an acrostic, the alphabet.

Aleph, Beth, Gemel, Daleph, Heph, Wah, Zayin.

From A to Z, the psalm is saying, God is an awesome God.

Last week we looked at another acrostic hymn, that is Psalm 25.

This week we look at Psalm 145 and it's focusing on the fact that our God is an awesome God.

Now this is the last Psalm we know that was written by David.

It's in the crescendo, the finale of the Psalms, the last 5 Psalms, a praise of David.

And this particular Psalm, again like I said, is an acrostic Psalm.

And I'm going to talk about just 5 sections of the psalm.

They're not really spelled out, but we're going to put them in 5 sections.

The first section, we praise God for who He is.

The second section, verse 8 and 9, we praise God because of His grace.

A third section, we praise God because of His glorious kingdom.

And the fourth, we praise God because of his glorious kingdom and the fourth we praise God because of his goodness to all who call upon him and then finally we praise God forever and ever how many think that sounds like a good plan so let's go back and then look at this Psalm 45 145 verse 1 through 7 I will extol you my God O King I will bless your name forever and ever every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

1 generation shall praise your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts.

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, men shall speak of the might of your awesome acts, I will declare your greatness.

They shall utter the memory of your great goodness, and shall sing of your righteousness.

So in these first 7 verses we're praising God for who he is.

I'm not sure I know you, but let me say I want to extol you.
