Many Shall Be Offended

Father in Heaven, we're thankful this evening that we can come for a time of prayer, a time of studying your Word.

We ask that you would not pass us by, only a few of us here, and yet you liked small groups, only 8 people got in the ark and only 12 disciples.

And we have that many at least, and you've promised to be with us where 2 or 3 have been gathered.

So this Friday night we're going to try for a communion again and this time Hopefully I'll go forward, but I thought maybe what I could talk about is a text in Matthew 24 10.

I'll be reading from the New King James Version of the Bible, Matthew 24, 10.

And then, Many will be offended and will betray 1 another and will hate 1 another.

Many will be offended and repelled and will begin to distrust and desert whom they should trust, him whom they should trust and obey, and will stumble and fall away and betray 1 another with hatred.

So 1 of the times or the signs rather of the times, 1 of the signs of the time at the end of time is going to be what?

You could be Times Magazine of the Year 1 year, and you can be the bottom of the barrel the next.

You could be the governor of New York, and then you're not the governor of New York.

You could be close to someone, but then they turn on you and are offended at what you said.

You're putting up maybe something and all of a sudden it blows up and people turn on you.

Have you noticed that people are more hateful on social media or over electronic means than they are in person?

They seem to think that you don't know where they live Or that somehow you can't trace them since they're across the world.

They come from things others, what others did say to us.

Did you know what he said to me and they come from what others did not say to us He realized he talked to everybody else but not me.

They come from what others did to us and they come from what others did not do for us.

And these are the seeds that generate positive or negative thoughts in our mind.

Sometimes they might be fed by the substrate of pride.

What happens if these are not dealt with?

Or sometimes, did you know how he said that to me?

I don't even know what they said, but they're offended at how it was said.

People start to get a root of bitterness.

And thereby it says in Hebrews chapter 12 and 15, what does it say, RJ?

Our Bible worker, he knows the Bible from memory, except this is the only verse he does not know.

It says, many will be, Hebrews 12, 15, defiled.

So, ruder bitterness will spring up, springs up, the word spring up means rapid, springs up, people get offended and many get defiled.

It Can be seen in what you say, words of the flesh, and what you do, works of the flesh, or what you say, words of the Spirit, or what you do, works of the Spirit.

Luke 17.1 Luke 17 Now by the way, we have communion service on Friday night and this passage or what I'm talking about tonight deals with stuff that people need to deal with at communion.

Then he said to his disciples, it is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him to whom they do come." So stumbling blocks or offenses, the word there, the offenses that are sure to come, the Greek word is scandalon.

Scandalon, like scandal, there are occasions that will come to trip you up, make you offended.

A scandalon was a small piece of wood used to keep an animal trap open.

An obstacle causing 1 to stumble, to lose their footing and then fall into the trap.

Offenses hinder our ability to do what God has called us to do.

They trap you and hold you back from doing God's will.

Have you ever gotten offended and trapped by that offense from doing things that you should have been doing for a very long time?

Or saying things you should have been saying for a very long time, and not being able to talk to the person about it because you just feel too ashamed that you're so upset.

You don't want to admit you're upset, and so you just don't talk about it.

Because what would be worse than being upset?

Admitting that you're upset and you're just like, locked, you're trapped in a cage.

This could go on for 10 minutes, it can go on for a day.

The Bible says, don't let the sun go down on your wrath, anger.

You know, a lot of my friends when they read that moved to Norway.

Since they thought the sun didn't go down there very often.

But it's not supposed to go on longer than a day.

It's impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him to whom they do come.

So, Have you caused someone else to be offended?

And this is the problem that communion is meant to take care of.

Luke 17, take heed, verse 3, take heed to yourselves.

If your brother sins against you, rebuke him and if he repents, forgive him.

If he sins against you 7 times a day, 7 times a day, returns you saying, I repent, you shall do what?

Literally, if your brother offends you, So if offenses come, forgive him how many times?

He says, you know, you were right So sometimes it's hard to rebuke somebody that many times in a day Because then you start having this all or nothing thinking.

He has said something I don't like 6 times today.

How many times did you do something wrong today?

I'm not talking in deed, I'm talking in thought.
