God Invented Sex

Hello, my name is David Wright and I am just so excited to be here with you live wherever you are around the globe for this coming together event.

And I don't know how many people are joining us.

They may watch after the fact and that's fine too, but I wanna welcome you and really just your courage to be here.

I think that's a significant step with where things are.

So welcome and we're so glad that you're here.

The list of topics of open and honest conversations about so many things, homosexuality and sexual purity, ministering to individuals, abortion recovery, porn addiction, sex addiction, transgenderism, family healing, sexuality and the church.

These are all heavy and very deeply personal issues and topics that are oftentimes hard to talk about.

And sometimes the harder question is how does God fit into this conversation?

Can I hold on to my belief or view and any 1 of these issues at the same time?

And so we're gonna spend the next hour or so together talking about various things.

And I just wanna begin with a word of prayer and ask that the Lord be with us during this hour.

Dear Heavenly Father, we desperately want your Holy Spirit to be here in our midst.

We pray that you will guide and direct in this conversation and this presentation, that you will work in a way that we cannot.

And we pray all these things in Jesus' name, amen.

Well, it goes without saying that we live in a time of conflict.

We see it all around us in our society, in our country, in unprecedented ways, in our school systems, in government, and even within ourselves there are conflicting ideas, conflicting opinions, conflicting thoughts about truth and what is right and what is wrong, what is okay and what is not okay.

Even this idea, is there such a thing as absolute truth?

Or can you have what's right for you and I have what's right for me?

And I was reading a story just this week in my morning time with the Lord that maybe you're familiar with.

And if you have your Bibles, you're welcome to turn and follow along with me.

I'm in 1 Kings 22, verse 1, and I feel like it speaks to some of these ideas that we're talking about.

So in 1 Kings 22, beginning of verse 1, it says, Now 3 years passed without war between Syria and Israel.

Then it came to pass in the third year that Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, went down to visit the King of Israel.

Now this is oftentimes a period of the Old Testament that we get confused.

We're connected with Saul, with David, with Solomon, but then there's a civil war among God's people and they are divided.

So now we have the King of Israel to the North and we have the King of Judah to the South.

And at the time of this story, we are 4 Kings removed from that initial civil war.

And so you have Jehoshaphat who is described in 2nd Chronicles 17 and other places.

But in 2nd Chronicles 17, verse 3, it says, Now the Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the former ways of his father David.

He did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father.

He walked in his commandments and not according to the acts of Israel.

Because Ahab and Israel was doing quite the opposite.

In fact, remember Ahab and Elijah, the prophets of Baal.

And so we have these 2 key figures here separated.

And going back then to 1st Kings 22, it says, Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went down to visit the king of Israel, which is Ahab.

And verse 3 says, the king of Israel said to his servants, do you know that Roth and Gilead is ours, but we hesitate to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria.

And so to put it simply, the king of Syria are the bad guys.

The king of Israel, which is King Ahab, he wants Jehoshaphat to join him.

And let's take this land back that is rightfully ours.

And so Jehoshaphat, the king that's trying to do the will of God and so on, he says, I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses are your horses.

And then in verse 5, it says, also, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, please inquire for the word of the Lord today.

He wants to know what is God's take on this.

And oftentimes that was a huge piece of battle.

You wanted to know what the prophet of the Lord said before we go in or this could end badly.

But it's interesting that what King Ahab says, verse 6, and the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about 400 men and said to them shall I go up against Ramoth Gilead to fight or shall I refrain?

Now we could be confused and think now these are the prophets of God Well, they're not the prophets of Ahab and Jezebel.

You remember the prophets of Baal were 450.

Then you have the prophets of Asherah, which are 400.

So we get those clues from other passages.

These are not godly prophets, but these are really pagan prophets that he goes to counsel.

Then verse 7, sorry, continuing the end of verse 6, and so they said, these 400 prophets, go up for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.

They said, you're good to go, no problem.

And Jehoshaphat said, is there not still a prophet of the Lord here that we may inquire of him?

Now I love Jehoshaphat's persistence in I wanna know what God has to say.

I'm not interested about all the prophets of Baal.

I'm not interested in what the world has to say.

I'm not interested in the popularity poll.

I want to know what God has to say about this matter.

So the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, there is still 1 man, Micaiah, the son of Imla, who we may inquire of the Lord.

But notice what he says, but I hate him because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.

I don't know if you can ever resonate with that.

The idea of, I don't want to know what God has to say on this topic.

And we are quick, I think oftentimes, at least I am, I can't speak for you.

I can be quick to go to the person that's gonna tell me what I want to hear That won't prohibit me from doing what I want to do And that's the same idea that we see here from King Ahab And Jehoshaphat said let not the king say such things.

So then the king of Israel called an officer and said, bring Micaiah, the son of Enelah quickly.

And we continue on skipping down to verse 13.

And the messenger who had gone to call, Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Now listen, the word of the prophet with 1 accord encouraged the king, Please let the word be like the word of 1 of them.

Speaking of the prophets of Asherah, and speak encouragement, say the right thing, say what the King wants you to hear.

In verse 14, Micaiah said, as the Lord lives, whatever the Lord says to me, that I will speak.

And then He comes to the king in verse 15, and the answer comes back, Go and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.

Verse 17, he says, you need to also know this.

I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains as sheep that have no shepherd.

So the word from God's prophet is, you can go, You will be victorious, but the sheep will be scattered.

Ultimately, that means something will happen to you, King.

This would have been a real pause, I believe.

And in verse 18, the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?

Why did we inquire of the prophet of the Lord?

Why is he saying such terrible things and trying to bring about my demise and so on?

Even as I Also Overcame

From where I am, I must say good evening.

I'm visiting here from Central Tennessee.

I would like to start this evening with a word of prayer.

Father in heaven, thank you Lord for this opportunity to share with our friends that are visiting on the program this evening and this seminar.

I thank you, Lord, that they're all here.

We pray that you will bless them richly with your spirit and with your word.

As I present this study that you have shared with me.

I pray that it will truly be a help to all of those who are listening.

You know, years ago, I went to college to study to be a medical missionary.

I had spent 2 years in mission service as a student missionary.

And in coming back to school, I enrolled in theology and pre-med.

It was during that time that I married and I had fathered a couple of children and I realized very quickly that I had made a terrible mistake coming from the confusion I was in and going into that marriage.

But I chose to have a Christian wife, to have a Christian family, to have a Christian home, to have a Christian education, choosing to get my degree in theology.

And after several years, I graduated with that degree in theology, with honors actually.

But for some reason, I did not have answers for my own salvation.

The confusion that I had dealt with all of my life since I was 4 years old, when I was first introduced to sexual behavior and derailed as a child, that confusion was so strong at that point, even with a degree in theology, I could not accept a call into ministry and I knew that my marriage was going to be in big trouble, that I'd made a mistake.

Upon graduating from college, I was given a call to ministry, but I turned it down because I just didn't feel worthy.

And I certainly didn't feel that I could be a successful pastor.

Excuse me, an Amber Alert there interrupted me.

But I did not feel that I could be a successful pastor if I didn't have the answers for my own salvation.

And as I look back on that time in my life where I finally just gave up and went into the gay world and broke up my marriage and devastated my wife and my parents and hurt so many people, And I look back upon that time of my life and I realized, even with a degree in theology, I did not understand Jesus.

I knew a lot about Jesus, but I didn't really understand him.

I thought when I would read him, his words say, be ye perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect.

And you're asking of me something that is impossible.

This is impossible, I just did not understand Jesus.

But years later, I was desperate for answers.

I remember turning to that little book, Steps to Christ.

So I sat down with a margarita in 1 hand and lit up a cigarette in the other hand.

And I had a sip and I had a puff and I opened the book, Steps to Christ.

And friends, that's how I started my journey back to Jesus.

And I learned so much about Jesus reading that beautiful book.

And it cultivated a taste in me for spiritual things to where I could once again study the Bible, not for my professors, not to get the grades so that I could graduate the top, you know, with top grades and get into medical school.

My life was 1 that was in a downward, inward spiral to self-destruction.

And as I began that journey, I began to see Jesus in a new light.

I remember in chapter 5, I put out a perfectly good cigarette because there's power in the word of God.

And I realized I shouldn't be doing this while I'm reading the word of God and I found so many answers to the point that That little book with with scripture on every page cultivated cultivated a taste for spiritual things in me that I had not had for many years.

And I got to where I could study the Bible till 2 and 03:00 in the morning and just devour everything that I could find from the Word of God.

And I found enough answers to where I could leave the gay culture.

And this is what I love about the Word of God, that as I study the Word of God, I can read the same verse.

I mean, how many times have you read John 3, 16?

We've known that beautiful passage since childhood, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

And every time I quote it or read it I have a new appreciation, a newer depth of understanding, that's just something so unique to the Word of God that it is inexhaustible.

It is like a bottomless well of living water and it will never run dry.

And so as I continue to study, just recently I came into a, I think like a new level of understanding that was so thrilling that I offered to share this study with the group this evening.

Because the question is, how do I overcome sin?

How do I stop doing this addictive behavior and participating in this addictive behavior.

You know, those in our ministry, we come from LGBT backgrounds, but not all of us.

Some of us were never in that background, but they were into pornography and what I call self-sex.

Michael, forgive me for not using the M word.

You know, there are many forms of sexual addiction.

And so we all have to come to the place where we say, you know, we're faced with that question, how can I overcome this, it's called besetting sin or this addiction?

Well, I want to turn your attention to Revelation 3, verse 21.

I don't know how many hundreds of times I have read this scripture.

I have a whole series of sermons on the 7 letters to the 7 churches of Revelation chapter 2 and 3, the last 1 being the church of Laodicea.

And recently I read this text and it had such a new depth of understanding or gave me such a new depth of understanding I got so excited that I came up with this study that I'm sharing with you this evening in Revelation 3 verse 21 Jesus is dictating this letter and he says, to him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne.

And then he says, even as I also overcame.

Huh, So he's saying, Ron Wolsey, you can overcome even as I also overcame.

Well, that got my wheels to really turning.

And I got so excited about what the Lord was revealing to me.

So let's take a look at a few texts of scripture.

Because like I said, when I graduated with my degree in theology, I did not know Jesus.

So let's look at a few texts of scripture and let's see if you can figure out where I'm going with this.

In Romans 1 verse 3, we read, concerning his son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh." According to the flesh, okay.

He was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.

And if you look at the heritage of Jesus in the New Testament, in the Gospels, there are 2 places where you can read the lineage of Jesus and my word the Despicable characters that were in his ancestry not only David the murderer the adulterer the man of war Abraham was a liar in in some cases Jacob the usurper, the deceitful 1 who became Israel.

There was Ruth the idolatress, the Moabitess, King Manasseh, the bloodiest of all kings in Israel, was a part of Jesus' ancestry.

And this text is saying, concerning his son Jesus Christ our Lord, Let's look at Jesus Christ, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.

Now that's kind of sobering because a lot of Christians today think that Jesus came in the nature of Adam before he ever sinned.

Do You Want to Be Made Whole

My name is Chad Kruiser and my wife is Fadi Kruiser.

I will begin this message and Fadi will conclude it.

And it's going to be a mixture of the scriptures and a personal experience from Hawaii.

But before we begin, I hope you're all doing well.

Well, we'll pray and then we'll go from there.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the opportunity to study science and scripture, to talk about personal experience of your power in our lives.

I pray that your Holy Spirit would be with each 1 of us.

Thank you so much for the powerful testimony that was just shared of transforming heart and teaching true love, Lord.

We seek Lord in all wrong places often, but we thank you that at the end you are still there not looking to shame us and hold us down, but lift us up and free us.

And I pray that your Holy Spirit would do just that now as we study together in Jesus name.

This message has to do with learned helplessness or more than conquerors.

Now I just want to let you a little bit about myself.

My wife and I have a ministry called Anchor Point Films.

We go around to archaeologists, historians, scholars.

We make documentaries on the Bible, history, prophecy, but also science and health.

We have a YouTube channel where you can see many of videos that we continue to do called Health and Homestead.

If you just look that up on YouTube, you'll find our channel there.

And let's begin with learned helplessness.

Now if you've taken a kind of foundational psych, psychology 101 course or a foundation level psychology in college or even high school for that matter, you may remember a study that was done back in the 1960s and 70s by Martin Seligman that had to do with learned helplessness.

And what they did was this, they took dogs and I think it was eagles if I remember correctly, I could be wrong, but they put them in a harness and they divided them into 3 groups.

1 group, they simply put them in a harness and didn't do anything else to them.

A second group, They put them in a harness and they divided them into 3 groups.

A second group, they put them in a harness and they would shock them, but the dogs had the ability to turn off the shock by taking their little snout and pushing it on a button and that stopped the shocking, this painful shock.

And the third group, they would shock them but they would have no way to stop it.

And you can understand they would never be able to do this to the dogs because of, it just, it's unethical so they wouldn't have let this happen.

But what happened is then after doing this to these dogs for some time what they did is they set up another experiment where they put the dogs individually into a cage that had 2 sides separated by a very small fence, small that they could easily just go right over the fence at any time they wanted to.

And the side that they put them on, at some point they would turn on an electric shock, the floor would begin to shock them.

And the dogs who had not had a shock previously, they were just harnessed down, when they were shocked, would jump over the fence and the other side would not shock them and they were set free.

The second group, the group that had been shocked but was able to turn off the effects of the electric shock, they too would jump over to the other side.

But the third group on the other hand, who had been shocked but saw no way out of the situation, when the floor became electrified, these dogs simply gave up.

They simply lie down right where they are and they just accepted this is just the way it's going to be.

And this became known as learned helplessness.

And the whole thought of learned helplessness is something that it sounds sad just thinking about it in dogs but we then begin to maybe recognize that this same thing is probably some point happening in every single human beings life.

They think what can I do this is who I am This is the way I was born?

Somehow I have, this is who I am and we've learned helplessness.

And I was thinking of this and I think there are 2 seeds that have been planted in our souls from birth.

And the first 1 is that we're prone to slavery because of sin, because of the history of earth.

We are prone to slavery to be enslaved to our cultivated or inherit tendencies but there's something else a second seed inside of our very being that yearns for freedom meaning none of us are really content as slaves to habits or destructive vices, whatever it is.

And thinking of these 2 things, that we're either basically slaves or we're free women and men, I want to look at a little bit of research.

The University of Michigan found that people who believe that they are in control of their lives or what they call autonomy had the highest levels of happiness.

It turns out that this probably number 1 at least at the time of this study, it was probably it was believed that believing that you have the ability to affect the outcome of your life is the number 1 greatest predictor of happiness in life.

You see, and so if you feel like you're trapped because of your body, you have to be of your mind that there's no way out of different issues in your life.
