Herbal Remedies

All right, good morning It's great to be here Thank you for coming and sorry about the inconvenience last minute, but we trust that The Lord is with us.

So let's Have a word of prayer before we start Father in heaven Lord, we just thank you so much for a beautiful day you've given us.

We thank you for the gift of salvation that you provide for us.

We thank you, Lord, for the simple remedies that you have empowered us with and we pray that as we learn more of these simple remedies that you've put within our reach that will be inspired that would be motivated that we will see the value in these humble methods of healing and that we'll use this to further your cause to reach hearts for thy kingdom this we pray in Jesus name amen well I always like to start by sharing a little journey into the herbal side of things.

We have a ministry called the American Herb Shop.

As I was sharing this morning, none of us are American.

I speak 3 languages, English, Australian, and American.

I had the blessing of being here for several years at Wildwood from 2007-2012.

And I worked as James said in the education department and teaching lifestyle medicine taught applied physiology and nutrition here.

And this is really, I guess you could say it was a launching pad for us to do now because, you know, our work is largely educational.

You know, you pay for your health in 1 of 2 ways.

You either get educated or you get medicated.

The Bible says, my people perish for lack of medication, education, right?

I'd just like to, you know, briefly give a historical perspective of how we got into this, what God has done in our ministry, and hopefully inspire you in your journey.

I know everyone has a different journey, right?

For us, it's the herbal side of things, but they're really an adjunct therapy to a healthy lifestyle.

So when we're teaching the laws of health, we can also introduce these simple plant-based medicinal plants that God has given us to use for the glory of his name.

So this is really a lot to do with our testimony of how we really started in the herbal side of things.

So, our part is really to educate others in these botanical remedies.

And you know the wonderful thing I love about herbs is you know they're really an encapsulation of the humility and effectiveness of Christ.

Every aspect of the herbs that we use in some ways typifies the power of Christ in restoring and building up in healing in ministering and just working with herbs.

It really you know Just putting your hands in the herbs and smelling them and looking at them, it just draws you out.

If you ever get stressed, just start working with herbs and soon all that stress will go away.

Yeah, so herbs are very similar to Jesus.

They're often the last resort when everything else has failed, right?

It takes a little faith to use them and science is still catching up with how they work.

Anyone know what the first shoot of a seed is called?

All right, a radical, it anchors the plant, it actually, it penetrates through the roughest and the hardest of surfaces.

This can actually, You could put several layers of cement on top of this plant, and it will actually break through, through its radical.

Yeah, a radical doesn't let anything get in the way of its growth.

It will actually, if you leave it long enough and you didn't use Roundup, it would recycle the cement back into the soil.

It would actually break it up and turn it back into dirt.

He knows how to plow through the darkness and how to turn up the things that man has instituted to cover the truth, right?

And the seed of course is the word of God.

You know, the Bible says that God uses the base things of this earth that are despised, right?

God has chosen them, the things which are not, to confound the wisdom of the wise.

And Jesus said, you know, what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination to God.

What is lowly esteemed is often where God reveals his glory.

And there's not many things as humble as herbs, right?

We hardly take any notice of them and yet God has put powerful properties within the reach of us in the plants to help us in our journey through this world.

I want to draw a lesson out of the Chinese bamboo tree.

I remember when we lived here there was some bamboo in the backyard and And I noticed when I was trying to plant a garden that these roots would just go everywhere.

I mean, when you get some bamboo, those roots, they just traverse across the whole garden.

But, you know, success is like a Chinese bamboo tree.

And let me explain what I mean about that.

To grow a Chinese bamboo tree requires a lot of nurturing with water, fertile soil and sunshine.

If you plant a seed, water the tree and add fertilizer for a whole year, nothing happens.

There are no visible signs of growth in spite of providing all these things.

After the second year of watering and fertilizing, there's no growth above the soil.

3 or 4 years on, there's Still no sign of anything happening.

Nothing to show for all your efforts, right?

Our patience is tested and we begin to wonder if our efforts, caring and watering the tree will ever be rewarded.

We start to doubt ourselves and question the value of our efforts.

Inevitably, many people will start to quit.

But then, finally in the fifth year, something amazing happens.

Chinese bamboo tree grows 80 feet tall in just 6 weeks.

Now The question is, did it grow 80 feet tall in 6 weeks or was it 5 years in growing?

Now if you had the eye faith, you would have seen that it was growing the whole time.

It was sending roots below and out so that when it was ready, it could shoot up and it could support that incredible growth.

You know, anyone you see that gets success in a hurry, they fail very quickly afterwards because they haven't gone through the trial process.

They haven't gone through the maturity in order to be stable when God gives them success.

And so, what I'm saying is, whenever you do something for God, you're gonna have some trials.

It's gonna appear like nothing's happening sometimes.

In fact, I really can relate to this because when I started my herd ministry, it was actually the very month, 5 years later, that things started shooting up exponentially, like 300% in 1 month.

I mean, it was just crazy the amount of growth we had on the fifth year that we started this.

And there's a lot of watering, there's a lot of effort you put in initially, and you don't always see those fruits.
