Climate Change and Laodicea

What in the world do these 2 things have in common?

Well, who has heard of the the hot topic of climate change?

And there's all kinds of questions about climate change.

And if it is happening, why is it happening?

And if it is happening, what do we do about it?

All these different topics, there's a variety of opinions on this topic, and there's all kinds of different approaches, and it's a very controversial topic, as probably most of you know.

If you would like to get in a fight over Christmas dinner with your family members, this is 1, these are 1 of the topics that you bring up.

It's, there's a lot of tension generated on both sides of the matter and you know we see all kinds of marches and people getting in arguments with each other.

There's just, the country is really quite divided on the topic.

And it's 1 of the many things that we have now that people are arguing about.

And we're going to notice something from the Bible, but before we get to that, let's just talk about what's going on with this whole climate change thing.

There is a lot of prominent characters who have jumped into this arena of climate change.

Of course, we have up here Al Gore, we have the salty little Greta Thunberg, and this is a picture of the United Nations here.

This is a topic that's frequently discussed at the United Nations.

It's discussed in all kinds of councils and country national councils.

And not just prominent figures like this, big tech has jumped into this.

Companies like Microsoft and Amazon and Facebook have kind of jumped in and have dedicated their, vouched their energy and ability to help solve this climate change issue.

And not just that, we live in a state that's very where this is a very charged topic.

As a matter of fact, I don't know if you're aware, this came out in the Harvard Gazette in August, it said last month, that was August, California regulators passed rules banning the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035.

A move hailed as a significant victory in the fight against climate change.

So a measure was passed that by the year 2035 you will not be able to purchase a gas-powered vehicle in our state of California.

The logistics of whether that's going to happen or not.

I don't know how they're going to pull that 1 off, but anyhow, this is the desire of those that are in power in our state of California.

And there's also another very prominent figure who has jumped in on this discussion of climate change.

The Pope himself believes in climate change.

He says, it is urgent to develop policies to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and highly polluting gases.

And since about 2017, Pope Francis has issued several, several times he's chimed in on this and has vocalized a plan that he has to help reduce these carbon emissions.

He has suggested to the world on multiple occasions that the world take a rest from things like driving our vehicles and using certain electronics.

And he suggested a particular day of rest that the world do this.

He suggested Sunday, that the entire world come together and honor Sunday as a sacred day that the planet gets a Sabbath.

So ironic to that angle that he's taking.

And so this is a bandwagon that the Vatican has jumped in on in pushing forward their agenda as well.

And for those of us who are aware of Bible prophecy, we know that this is just another step in prophetic fulfillment.

It's nothing that we have against Catholics, but we see that the Antichrist power has been moving, using this to move in a direction that they've been wanting to move in for a very long time.

But the question we want to ask this morning is, what does the Bible have to say about climate change?

Does the Bible have anything to say about climate change?

Is it just a political sociological debate that we're having or does the Bible talk about this?

And if the Bible talks about it, how is it connected with the last church age in Earth's history, the Church of Laodicea, which we believe we're living in right now.

And that's what we're going to discuss this morning.

I hope you have your Bibles because we're going to be having a Bible study this morning.

Let's turn in our Bibles to the book of Leviticus.

Leviticus chapter 26 and we're going to do 14 through 17.

It says, but if you will not hearken unto me, this is God speaking to Israel, and will not do all these commandments, and if you shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that you will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant.

Here's verse 16, He says, I also will do this unto you.

I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, the burning ague, that's what it says in the King James.

We don't use that word, that means inflammation.

"...that shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart.

And ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it." We're gonna end in verse 17.

"...and I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies, and they shall hate you, and shall reign over you, and you will flee when no 1 pursues." We'll stop right there.

Prior to this, I should say, prior to this he shared a list of blessings that God would give his people.

The crops would do well, the rain would come, they would win all their battles if they kept his commandments.

He said, listen children Israel, if you obey, if you don't obey my commandments, I'm warning you ahead of time.

These types of things will come to the nation.

And the question we have to ask is, was this an idle promise?

Well, all you have to do is just look at the history of the nation of Israel.

During the period of the judges, Did you know Israel was placed in bondage and then set free by a judge 12 times?

They weren't necessarily deported, but you know, the Philistines would come in or the Moabites would come in or some group would come in and subjugate them.

It happened 12 times during the period of Judges, and of course we have a picture of the most famous judge that we are aware of, Samson.

After that, during the Kings, after Solomon, between Israel and Judah, there were about, well there were 42 kings and 1 queen.

Out of those 42, you know how many were wicked?

So anyhow, And you often see this as you read through the books of 1st and 2nd Kings and 1st and 2nd Chronicles, and so-and-so did evil in the sight of the Lord.

And it would go on and explain all the things that they did.

And so, Israel would, had strayed from God.

And what happened, as we read this history, Israel and the wicked kings were either overcome by their enemies, they were taken into captivity, multiple times the king was assassinated, there's a time where the king committed suicide, or they would die of disease.

And so this was a very long dark period for Israel, but even before that, even before they settled in the Promised Land, as we read through the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, we read of Israel when they're in the wilderness.

And here's just 5 of the more prominent rebellions that they went through.

1 of the first ones with the manna and the quail, that's when they got sick of the manna.

And the Bible says they started murmuring and said, oh we all we have this manna.

And the Bible says they lusted after meat.

And God did something that sometimes parents do with their children.

Maybe your grandpa told you a story where he got caught smoking cigarettes and your dad said, his dad said, you like cigarettes?

Well, God did that with Israel and the meat.

He says, you'll eat it till it's coming out of your nostrils is what the Bible says.

And the Bible says, as it was in between their teeth they got smoked with the plague while they were eating the quail and then there was Baal-Pior when the Moabite women came and seduced the men and got them to commit fornication and sacrificed to Baal at Pior and a great plague broke out and just all of these, Korah's rebellion, of course the fiery serpent, and that's the famous story where Moses had to put up that bronze serpent on a pole and if they looked at it they would be healed and they would live, and then the sin of Achan.
