The Loud Cry: What and How?

Well, today, Third Angels' Message, we've been looking at a series on the 3 angels' messages of Revelation chapter 14.

And I was trying to think, where are these 3 angels here on our insignia?

They would be these 3 trumpets, stands for those 3 angels' messages.

And so it's part of our seal that we're unpacking here as we look at the 3 angels' messages.

And These messages, the 3 angels' messages, are really the messages that define, if you wanted to have a passage, 1 of the passages that defines what the Seventh-day Adventist church stands for.

And historically, they've preached these messages beginning in the 1830s until the name Seventh-day Adventist was chosen in 1863.

And so, inextricably tied with the 3 Angels messages, and their understanding of those messages is what the Advent movement embodies and symbolizes.

And the first angels' message was preached about 1830 to 1844.

The second angels' message from the fall of 1844 until later when the people came out of various churches, and then the third angel's message began to be preached after that, and then a fourth angel's message added to the third.

We'll pray here, we'll summarize those, and then we'll look at what's called the loud cry, what is it, and how is it to be given.

Father in heaven, bless us as we again open your Word and we ask your Spirit to attend us to help us to hear what you would like us to hear translated to our individual understanding and our collective understanding in Christ's name.

So by way of summary, you know, in our last messages we saw the first angel's message was the gospel, God's spell.

The whole world's under the devil's spell, but God wants us under his spell.

The gospel, God's news, the good news that makes us happy, joyful, makes us even want to dance, we saw as we looked at that Greek word.

It's to be delivered as a result of preaching, which is why we have preaching.

It is to lead people to fear God, which literally means to trust Him.

The fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction.

He will not be visited with evil, Proverbs 19, 23.

God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.

He then delivers the living water to us and we enter into creation rest, Sabbath rest.

And as a result of the preaching of this message, people generally live 10 to 20 years longer, and then they have the promise of eternal life.

So people that go through the health programs here, Maybe it's the New Start program, maybe it's the Depressive Recovery program, maybe it's the clinic, they come to the clinic, and then they start on a new path.

Maybe they're someone that came from our total community involvement initiative.

And they come and they start to learn and they start to discern things that actually leads to life, more abundant now, an eternal life.

And that's the first angel's message and it says their works will follow them.

And the third angel, it says, it kind of joins with the first, and it says their works would follow them.

And we have all kinds of scientific research now.

Adventist mortality study, Adventist Health Study Number 1, Adventist Health Study Number 2.

The Cancer Institutes of Health did some of those major studies.

But then there's many other studies, maybe 500 more, that actually document that if you live in accordance with the first angel's message, the angel that jumped in after you when you went fishing for something different.

And of course, this is 1 of the reasons we exist as a church, as a campus, as a school, to bring that good news.

Now the second angel's message follows in Revelation 14 verse 8.

That great city because she made all nations drink, drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

So you have now another picture, people under the devil's spell, everyone, all nations, they're not being preached to now, they're being mandated.

To not trust God, but to trust the devil.

Not having living water, but have alcohol.

Usually when you're drinking alcohol, things don't end well?

Anyone dare admit that they've actually had alcohol here?

But alcohol is a frontal lobe depressant.

There might be some use for Pain medication, give strong drink to him who is perishing.

But other than very unique circumstances with pain medication, it's not something that leads really to a good outcome.

Usually leads to a stupor, not Sabbath rest, but a stupor.

And it's giving glory to ungodly things and usually people that do that, they live 10 to 20 years less or even greater and they have ahead of them eternal death, not eternal life and their works will follow them as well.

So there's these 2 choices, first angel's message or second angel's message, and the third angel's message is really God's final call to choose the first angel's message, okay, and to not choose the second angel's message.

When I was listening to the children's story, I thought she was gonna say, and my mother yelled at me.

But you know, can't everything go exactly with the children's story in your sermon.

But I remember when I was in Romania once, and we were going to try and get someone out of the country, and we went with the people to the embassy, and on the way there, I don't know if it was on the way there but it was during that day, My wife went to make a phone call.

Back then, to make a phone call in Romania was a big deal, because they had like 45, 000 people listening to your phone call.

So she went in to make a phone call, which was not a 10 minute thing, or even a 5 minute thing.

She goes in there and a policeman comes to me and says I couldn't park where I parked.

He asked for my passport And then he took it and ran down the road.

So he takes my passport and he runs down the road and I go, this is not good.

Because I can picture him like immigrating to America, living with my wife, you know, my life is over.

So I started to scream, I had a loud cry, stop!

And I yelled so outriously that some people said, what's wrong?

And they went and caught the guy and they brought him back and they beat him up and gave me back my passport.

The only reason I'm here today is the loud cry.

And when things get serious, we get a little more pronounced in our messages, yes or no.

I just did that because I want to keep you engaged.

This is much more serious than that, although I think that's pretty serious, if my, you know, what I just told you.

So this final call is the loud cry, don't stay in Babylon, get out of there, it's about to fall.

And don't get drunk, don't get involved in immorality.

And being an emergency department nurse and a nurse for a number of years, I can tell you that these 2 things, drinking and sexual indiscretions, cause a lot of pain and hurt, sometimes instantly.

I remember once I was working in the emergency room in Benton Harbor and someone had been messing around with someone else's girlfriend.

And he didn't like it, so they came in and they stabbed the person who did that right across.

I was taking the guy's blood pressure, hit him right in the heart, and he died right there in my arms.

And when I found out what happened, I said, you know, don't mess around with someone else's girlfriend.
