The Pillar and Ground of the Truth

Before I begin, my subject is the pillar and ground of the truth.

If you have 1 of these, would you accommodate me please and turn it off?

I am doing the same thing, mine is off, it is quite dead.

Second favor, pray for me while I speak and simply ask God to put his words in my mouth.

When Peter stood on the day of Pentecost, the Bible says in Acts 2 14, then Peter standing up with the 11.

Somehow it was obvious to the listeners that all the other 11 men were with Peter in this message, even though he alone spoke.

And it's no surprise in verse 37, the Bible says, now when they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts and said unto Peter and to the rest of the Apostles, men and brethren what shall we do?

And so I regard you as the 11 with whom I stand this morning.

Please ask God to put his words in my mouth.

And favor number 3, I'd like you to think very hard as you listen to the Word of God.

Our Father in heaven, we thank you, dear God, for life.

We thank you, Father, we can come to you right into your throne room.

Even more than that, we can sit at your right hand through Jesus.

This is access that not even angels have.

As we bow before you Holy Father, look upon us with favor and mercy.

Jesus said in John 16, 13, How be it when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth.

Guide us, dear God, into truth, or we will surely guide ourselves into error.

And so I pray, Father, your angels that excel in strength would surround this place, that we, your denominated people, may worship in security and safety.

If there are others on their way, bring them safely, dear God.

Use me as an instrument, dear God, that your name may be glorified and your people blessed, I pray.

In Jesus' name, let us all say, amen and amen.

I read from the King James Version of the Bible.

The Bible says, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

No, the reason why I ask, I'm very serious about things like this, you see.

Acts 2 verse 1, and when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with 1 accord.

Are there any Seventh-day Adventists in this audience?

And so I take this sort of thing very seriously.

I was at a church, I'll get back to Genesis 1.

I looked through the window, I saw some children playing in the parking lot.

And so I paused and I said, are those our children?

I said, are the parents seated before me?

I was at another church, I won't say where.

I got up to preach and I said, is everyone present who came to church for service?

They said there's a choir rehearsing in the basement.

I said, let's sing a hymn while 2 fearless deacons go downstairs and tell that choir come upstairs.

A few weeks later I got an email from the choir leader wanting to know why I asked the choir to come upstairs.

I wrote him back very nicely, and a friend of mine who read my email said, I'm glad you are the 1 who wrote him and not me, because if I had written him to explain why you told the choir to come up, It would have been a very harsh response.

I'm saying this because we we are losing respect for God.

The way we behave in church, the way we conduct ourselves, we just are losing respect for God.

And God is merciful, yes, but there comes a time when God says I've had enough.

The Bible says of Moses, I am so terrible as the sight that Moses said, I exceeding fear and quake.

When God came down on Sinai, Moses said my knees were knocking.

When the angels come into his presence, what do they do?

And who am I to come into God's presence?

So that's why I wanted to know if that nice lady was 1 of us, because I would have sent someone to tell her to come inside.

The Bible says, and God said, let there be light, and there was light.

The words, let there be light, we're reading them microscopically.

Let's read Psalm 33 verses 6 and 9, Our subject, the pillar and ground of truth.
