You are about to enjoy a presentation recorded at the 2023 Michigan Conference Camp Meeting held at Cedar Lake, Michigan.

We pray that the Lord will bless you as you listen.

Father, I thank you for those that are going to be listening in other places.

We want just as much of a blessing for them as you would give us.

I pray that you'll attract people to listen as well.

Might this be life-changing and heaven-bringing in every way, in Jesus' name.

Prescott, advising against rash moves, doing for Christ what we're going to look at today, preparing to pray for the sick, fasting often brings reformation.

And if you would like to find the articles easily, just take a few of those words, put them in quotation marks, and put them in the EGY database, and it will take you in a nanosecond to write to that quote.

Find the real words and then look for the citation, and it will be there momentarily.

So going backwards again, then there's an article on acceptable confession, then some articles of Seventh-day Adventist authors on prayer and fasting, testimonies you have the testimony from yesterday on that page, and then medical aspects of fasting, the testimony of Mark Sandoval from UG Pines and Gabriella shared, and then the seminar handouts, which are Michigan, It is at time.

Handouts are in 4 different formats, 8 and 1 by 11, A5 for a tablet, A4 for other countries, and a booklet for double-sided printing.

And then if I mention an article in here, There will be a reference to that as well.

These are exhaustive studies on whatever subject.

And many people, they hear a website and they don't really know what it means when I have a website.

So yeah, so and these are some of the other categories.

If you want to have a real easy way to find things on here, I don't see the upper 1.

But anyway, these are all categories, but that's not what our subject matter is today, so we're just going to go to the keynote PowerPoint.

That's the most secure email, and that's why I use it.

And then some of what we've been looking at this time, we won't take the time, but here's the quotation.

I have been shown angels of God all ready to impart grace and power to those who feel their need of divine strength.

But these heavenly messengers will not bestow blessings unless solicited." We're referring to the blessings of camp meeting.

So she says, these heavenly messengers will not bestow blessings unless solicited.

They have waited for the cry from souls hungering and thirsting, welcome, for the blessings of God.

They were indeed casual prayers, but not the earnest supplication from humble contrite hearts.

I think Many of us often pray casual prayers and we do not see results.

I could tell you stories about them, but I won't take the time.

And then speaking of academy, meeting after meeting has closed with but little manifestation of the spirit and the power of God.

The people seem to be satisfied to reach no higher.

They seemed to expect no revival of the work of God, but with grief and disappointment, angels turned from the scenic confusion where tents were being removed, and the people preparing to return to their homes without the blessing which heaven was more than willing to give." How about that?

This is a meeting, it would have been a camp meeting, you know, because they didn't have motels back then so they were camping.

But she said, the angels were waiting but unless asked, unless solicited, unless asked, they would not give the blessings.

And so they'd been there, they hadn't been blessed yet, but they thought that was all that they could get.

And the angels were sad because they were waiting to give a blessing, but unless we asked.

And I think 1 of my favorite quotations of prayer comes from the book of Great Converse, where it says, it is God's plan to grant an answer to the prayer of faith, that which he would not grant if we did not ask.

And I often wonder, how many blessings am I going without because I'm not asking for the blessing?

And I wish we would really think about this as we're coming to the end of our camp meeting, saying, Lord, have I reached the blessing that you want me to have?

You know, Ellen White used to speak of meetings where she says, a tidal wave of power would come through the camp meeting.

A tidal wave of power, referring to the Holy Spirit.

I'd like to experience a tidal wave of power, wouldn't you?

Yeah, that's what it should be all about.

Anyway, so today we're talking about the true fast from Isaiah chapter 58.

It repeats some of this, so that's why I didn't bother to do it.

You can do it in your Bibles or I have it there.

It says, cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, tell my people their transgression and the house of Jacob their sins.

Notice verse 2, yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways.

These were people who delighted to know God's ways as a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the ordinances of their God." So by all outward appearances, these were people that had all the potential to be really knowing God.

Delight to know my ways as a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the ordinances.

They ask of me the ordinances of justice.

They enjoyed having a strong devotional experience, if I can put it that way.

But notice, verse 3, why have we fasted, they say, and you have not seen?

Why have they fasted and you have not seen?

Why have we afflicted or humbled our souls and you take no notice?

In fact, the day of your fast, you find pleasure And you exploit all your labors.
