A World in Crisis

Happy Sabbath, Northern Caribbean University.

It is so good to be with you here in Mandeville, Jamaica.

We left Connecticut and it was already cold and so we are glad to be with you and with my good friend, your president, Dr.

We met back at Loma Linda University and so it's good to see him and the school thriving here in Jamaica.

You are a unique school, I don't know if you all know that.

Around the world there are many Adventist schools, but there are none like this 1.

And I say that very earnestly and authentically.

We travel a lot and preach, and some of our schools are honestly not where they used to be, I'll just say it that way.

But I know that here in Jamaica and at Northern Caribbean University you are holding down the fort for the work of God Almighty.

So some of you are new students, some of you are maybe even new to the Adventist message.

This week as we go through this week of prayer we're going to introduce you to many themes and many subjects.

I made national news in the United States over taking a stand for what we believe.

We'll go through a lot of interesting subject matter, But I want you to come out every night and fellowship every day, because some of the talks are at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come.

This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come." And our message for this evening is entitled, A World in Crisis.

Father God, we thank you for this opportunity to study your Word.

Lord, I ask you right now, Lord, to just make me a nail on the wall, a rusty, sorry nail, Lord, but upon that nail I ask that you hang a portrait of Jesus Christ.

Lord let not Eric Walsh be seen or heard, instead Father let us hear a word from the throne room of grace.

This is our prayer in Jesus's name, Amen.

So tonight we're gonna talk about the condition of the world.

We're gonna set the stage for this week by looking at what is going on on the planet in the world.

We looked at, we'll look at a lot of it as we go through the week, but I want you to know just to start out that the world has been in crisis since Adam and Eve fell in the garden.

When sin entered the world, trouble entered the world.

In fact Romans 8 and verse 22 says it like this, for we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

Does the world groan and travail in pain?

In fact you can tangibly say it happens when there's an earthquake.

It says, and we know that we are of God and the whole world lies in what?

Let me tell you something, if you don't learn this lesson young, you'll have a hard life.

It's not unique to 1 country or 1 neighborhood, the world itself is wicked.

But I want to turn your attention to the book of Luke chapter 21.

The Bible says, and there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity the sea and the waves roaring.

Men's hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.

For the powers of heaven shall be shaken and then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

I want you to get that we are living at the time of the end.

I'm gonna give you a little bit of biblical doctrinal mathematics to support this, but you've got to understand that we are living in Earth's last days.

Now there are folk who think, well, you know, we've been saying that for 2, 000 years and Adventists have been saying it for over 140 years, but let me tell you that tonight I will show you that things are changing and from a prophetic standpoint the world has never been in the position it's in today.

I think Sunday night is when I'm gonna do the message on sexual purity.

And I can tell you that the way the whole world looks at sex and gender has completely done a flip-flop in the last probably 5 to 10 years.

Daniel chapter 12 and verse 1 says, And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which stands for the children of your people.

And there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time.

And at that time thy people shall be delivered, everyone that shall be found written in the book." Written in which book?

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, and some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

If the dead are going to be raised at that last day, they can't be in heaven now.

Verse 3, and they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.

Let me tell you something, Northern Caribbean University, that verse is describing you.

This is the aspiration God has for every student at this school.

It is the aspiration that you will be wise and shine as the brightness of the firmament, and that you will turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.

Let me tell you something, I was in — I forget where I was — I was in some remote, like Montana or North Dakota, someplace in America where you don't even find black people.

And I saw — I ran into a black pastor, and I said, what are you doing here?

And when he opened his mouth, it was a Jamaican.

I said, how did you find yourself in cowboy country?

He was there preaching this great gospel unabashed in a corner of the world where you would never think he would go.

I've seen this in Europe, I've seen it in Africa, I have seen from this little island where people remark the fact that you have the greatest sprinters in the world and you have some of the greatest cricket players in history like my brother Courtney.

You've got some great folk who have come through this place, but I tell you what, they pale in comparison to what Jamaican preachers are doing all around the world.

Verse 4, But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, even to the time of the end.

Many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall be increased.' Then I, Daniel, looked and behold there stood other 2, the 1 on this side of the bank of the river and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

And 1 said to the man clothed in linen which was upon the waters of the river, how long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

And he says, he noticed that he says, listen, when the time of the end comes, you're gonna see knowledge increase, many run to and fro.

Then the 1 gentleman on the side of the river says, when will the end come?

Verse 7 says, and I heard a man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and swear by him that lives forever and ever that it shall be for a time, a times, and a half.

And when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

But I heard, and I heard, but I understood not.

Then said I, O Lord, what shall be the end of these things?" I want you to get that that time, time, and a half of times will tell us exactly when the last days began.

You don't have to say, they've been saying Jesus is coming soon for 2, 000 years, there is actually a date at which the end of time began.

We're going to show you that tonight and then show you how this thing is playing out.

Daniel 12 and verse 9 says, and he said, Go thy way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the end of the time, until the time of the end.

Now here's what's interesting, the book of Daniel has never been properly understood until the Millerite movement of the early 1800s.

It was sealed and it did not open until exactly when the Bible says the time of the end would begin.

Verse 10, Many shall be purified and made white and tried, but the wicked shall do wickedly, and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

You're going to go through times of trial, times of difficulty, in order to be purified.

And what I want this week for you to get out of, 1 of the things I want you to get out of this week is to gain the ability to endure, to understand that Christianity is not a social organization.

Christianity is something that you commit to and that you grow in.

And 1 of the evidences of that is character growth.

Character and the Seal of God

Again, we are so happy to be with you here in beautiful Jamaica, in the sunshine and the warmth.

And I'm looking forward to the rest of this week of prayer.

I wanna just introduce the rest, some of the upcoming messages, so you know what's in store.

Tomorrow night we will be dealing with 1 of the most challenging messages of the week and that will be the message on sex and sexual purity.

It is something that is shied away from often, but you do not wanna miss tomorrow night's message.

Monday and Tuesday at 02:00, I will be giving my testimony in 2 parts.

Because I'm giving it over 2 parts I plan to share with you information that I normally do not share including information on how Donald Trump was instrumental in the outcome of the religious liberty case that I had in the United States.

Now if you know nothing about this then you really need to come.

But you definitely don't want to miss those 2 messages.

And then on Wednesday at 2, I'm going to talk a lot about the mind and learning and how to be a better student as well as how that translates to being a better Christian.

And so that will give you over for the next few nights and days, what we'll be addressing and discussing.

But today, we are gonna talk on a subject I talk on frequently if you follow my messages.

And I keep saying I'm gonna retire these sermons, but God keeps telling me that this is the message that the church needs right now.

So we're gonna go to our scripture reading which is found in Revelation chapter 22 and I want to thank the pastoral staff and the IT folk for getting me this monitor down here.

The Bible says this, He that is unjust, let him be unjust still.

He which is filthy, let him be filthy still.

And he that is righteous, let him be righteous still.

And he that is holy, let him be holy still.

It says, And behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be.

A message this Sabbath is entitled, Character and the Seal of God.

Once again, Lord, I ask that you make me just a nail upon the wall, a rusty sorry nail Lord, but upon that nail I ask that you hang a portrait of Jesus Christ.

All right, so I'm gonna go back to a text we looked at last night and I want you to follow me.

I hope this week I was talking to your president, Dr.

Edwards, about being able to visit some of the classrooms this week.

So I'm hoping to be able to come into some of the classes where folk are pre-med and nursing and so forth in the health care field and maybe even theology but to come in and talk to you and just give some advice maybe and maybe learn something from you all as well, but this message is 1 that connects what we know scientifically about the mind to what the Scripture says God expects.

In Daniel 12 and verse 1, I read this last night, it says, and at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which stands for the children of your people, and there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time.

And at that time thy people shall be delivered, every 1 that shall be found written in the book." What we're talking about to start off with tonight, this morning, is actually the close of probation.

It is a unique doctrine to Adventists, this idea that there is going to be a period of time after which your eternal fate is sealed before Christ returns.

There are a lot of people who don't believe that but it's very biblical and this is 1 of the verses that tells you that because the Bible says that when Michael stands up and where is Michael now?

Michael is Christ is in the most holy chamber of the heavenly sanctuary.

He comes out of the temple, he takes off his priestly garb, and Revelation describes to us that he then puts on his kingly robes.

He mounts a white horse and returns to earth in the greatest rescue mission the universe has ever seen.

But the decision will have been made based on what we as Adventists call the investigative judgment.

A pre-Advent judgment that is going on right now.

Because when he stands he will make this declaration.

No more will there be a mediator and Christ will speak and say he that is unjust let him be unjust still and he that is filthy let him be filthy still.

In the original Greek, the just and the filthy doesn't just mean he that is just in the moment of time, but he that is just might as well go on being unjust.

It means in the original Greek, he that is filthy, go on being filthy.

Ah, but he that is righteous, forever you will go on being righteous.

He that is holy will forever go on being holy.

Let me tell you something, I get feedback on our channel, for our church's YouTube channel, because people are upset that I preach that Christians should gain victory over sin.

But if we were not called to gain victory over sin, how could this declaration be made by Christ while he's still in heaven?

Then Jesus makes the proclamation that he is coming quickly.

That represents the great time of trouble that is going to happen and embedded in that great time of trouble is Jacob's time of trouble.

In fact he says, for the elect's sake he will cut time short.

He will come to give every man according as his work shall be.

You are not saved by your works but you are judged by them.

We're gonna jump elsewhere in the book of Revelation.

And in Revelation chapter 7, in verse 1, the scripture says, and after these things, I saw 4 angels standing on the 4 corners of the earth, holding the 4 winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth nor on the sea nor on any tree.

This is an allegoric showing in Scripture of the fact that God since man fell in the garden has been holding back from the earth the full ramifications of the effect of sin on this planet.

We talked a little bit about the world being in crisis last night.

If there were not angels holding back the winds of strife this world would be uninhabitable.

Verse 2 says, and I saw another angel ascending from the east having what?

The seal of the living God And he cried with a loud voice to the 4 angels to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea.

And a fifth 1 comes on and this 1 has in his hand the seal of the Living God.

And we're gonna break down this seal a little more in a second.

And then verse 3 says, saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have done what?

Till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

The Bible says that a fifth angel comes and this angel is holding a seal and there are 2 parts to a seal.

First part of the seal is the part that does the stamping.

The second part of the seal is the ink which bears the imprint.

The seal that is being held that the fifth angel brings is representative of something we talked about last night.

In 1798 the last days began and the book of Daniel was unsealed.

There's no coincidence that those words are used.

The book of Daniel is unsealed and the Millerite movement begins and the truth begins to spread around the world that Jesus is soon to return.

That seal is translated after the Advent movement begins in full and the church is organized that they understand the truth of the Sabbath and the importance of God's law And I want you to understand that the seal in essence, that the stamp part of it is God's word.

It is his law and definitively in the last days, it is his Sabbath.

So what stamps the mind is an understanding of the Word.

What the other part of it is the ink and the paper and the ink represents your character, your ability to be molded to look like the law and character of God.

And you never stamp with the stamp of royalty anything that is not deserving.

You will not use imperfect paper or messed up paper.

Revelation chapter 22 and verse 4 says this, and they shall see his face and his name shall be in their foreheads.

So now we get 2 things out of Revelation that go in the forehead, which means that the forehead must be very important.

The first thing is that this is where the seal of God goes.

The second thing is that this is where God's name is actually written.

What does the name represent in the Bible?

Sexual Purity and Prophecy

Tonight we're gonna deal with a very serious subject.

I want them to make sure that the slides are shown.

I want to encourage you that if you're sitting where you cannot see the 2 screens to move.

This is 1 of the most important sermons you may ever hear, especially at this stage of your life.

The 2 reasons we're gonna tackle this subject tonight, the first 1 is I wish growing up as a Seven-Day Adventist that someone had preached a message like this clearly, distinctly, and consistently when I was growing up.

Secondly, I preach this message tonight because in our churches there is still too much sexual sin.

In fact, it is not just the young people that are sometimes falling into this trap, but even in positions of leadership and authority in our church, this is 1 of the areas where our people collapse.

So this message, like I said, is not, this is not a play message.

It's a very serious message, and I am asking God to be with us tonight.

I don't know where it is, but I'm gonna need it, the clicker.

I don't know if anybody's up top that can advance the slides for me till we get the clicker, but our scripture reading tonight is taken from Romans chapter 13 starting at verse 11.

Romans chapter 13 and verse 11 is our scripture reading, the start of it tonight.

And that knowing the time that now is high time to awake out of sleep, thank you, for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand.

Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light." Look at what verse 13 says.

It says, let us walk honestly as in the day, not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying, verse 14, but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.

Our message tonight, this beautiful Sunday night, is entitled Sexual purity and prophecy.

Father God we thank you for this opportunity to to share your word to study this difficult subject.

I am asking now Lord that you send your Holy Spirit in double and triple portion.

There are some in here right now on their phones Lord that need to hear this message and the fact that they're on their phone is proof of it.

Right now Lord I pray that the distractions would be removed.

I pray right now that the demons would be bound.

I pray that right now, Lord, that our own passions would be laid to rest.

Father God, right now I'm asking for angels that excel in wisdom and strength to be given charge over this place.

Pour out your Holy Spirit now and let your word go out for we know that it cannot go out and come back void.

This is our prayer tonight in Jesus's name.

So let's get right into this thing we're gonna go to the book of Numbers what book did I say the book of Numbers the 22nd chapter Numbers chapter 22 and I want you to really follow along I hope you can see the screens.

If you can't, do not be ashamed to get up and move to the screens.

I'm telling you this message can save you from a life of heartache.

Numbers 22 and verse 1 says, And the children of Israel set forward and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.

And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites and Moab was sore afraid of the people because there were many.

And Moab distressed because of the children of Israel.

The children of Israel, a rag-tag bunch of former slaves, marched out of Egypt and through the Red Sea.

Pharaoh, the mightiest man on the planet, was washed away because he defied the God of Israel, asking the terrible question, who is this God that I should obey him?

When the inhabitants of the promised land heard what Israel had, God had done, terror and panic spread throughout the pagan, heathen nations of the land.

They were sore afraid and this story shows you they had heard what God had done and they were worried.

Let me tell you something tonight, Northern Caribbean University, let me tell this to the students, the administrators, the pastoral staff of the church, let me tell you something, the Moabites are still afraid of you.

We ought not act and walk like we're the chickens.

I know resources are short, but God sent me to tell you that if you are faithful, he will pay you dividends.

The land was promised while they were still in poverty.

Your enemies are afraid because they know what God can do for you.

Verse 4, And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are around about us as the ox licks up the grass of the field and Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time." So he said listen, there's so many of these people, if we're not careful they're gonna lick us up, They're gonna wipe us out like an ox eats all the grass in a fertile field.

Enter the antagonist of the story, a most interesting Bible character.
