Coronation of the King, Part 2

Contrary to the popular belief that lightning never strikes the same spot twice, It's actually been known to strike objects, even people, multiple times during intense electrical storms.

During 1 storm, for instance, the Empire State Building in New York was struck 15 times within 15 minutes.

Sometimes a single bolt of lightning will really consist of as many as 42 discharges striking the same spot in such quick succession that it appears like a single flash, but it all happens in less than 1 quarter of a second.

Lightning from 1 cloud to another is also very common, and it's been recorded to jump as far as 20 miles between clouds.

But whether lightning is moving from cloud to cloud or cloud to ground or ground to cloud, it's hard to miss the brilliant blinding flash that illuminates the sky.

In Matthew 24, Jesus said, for as lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

In spite of His words, some still believe that His return is going to be a secret.

Join me now, friends, as we take a closer look at what the Bible really says about the return of Christ.

♪♪ I hope you've got your seatbelts on because we're gonna be diving into some industrial strength Bible study now, talking about some of the high points of Christ's coming.

Our lesson tonight is dealing with the subject of the coronation of the king.

It's amazing to me that Hernan Cortes, Hernando Cortes and his conquistadors when they landed in Veracruz, Mexico that with just 800 men he went into the capital of the city that had 2 1⁄2, 3 million people.

There were at least 140, 000 people living in Mexico City at that time.

In part because Montezuma and many of the other Aztecs had a prophecy about these light-skinned gods that would come from the east and when the Spanish came with their ships and the billowing sails from the east they said, is that them?

And then they're wearing their armor, they're riding on horses they'd never seen before and they thought they were gods.

And They marched right into the middle of the city and they took the king.

So we've got to know what prophecy really says or we could be deceived.

And they were deceived by false prophecies and that's A lot of people in the last days can happen false Christ Matthew 24 24 our Lord said false Christ and false Prophets will rise and show signs and wonders even if they do signs and wonders if it does not go with the Bible do not believe it to deceive if it was possible even the very elect I remember meeting my first false Christ.

I was living in the mountains for a year and a half.

I lived in a cave in Southern California up by myself way back in these mountains.

And this hiker came down the canyon and came by my cave, which was right by the water.

And I remember he stepped into the cave yard, hidey yard.

He had brown hair down to his shoulders, had a beard, hazel eyes, good looking guy.

He's hiking along and talked to me a little bit.

I've got some Spanish friends and their name is Jesus, Jesus.

I was up in the mountains all by myself, and there's this guy looking straight at me, and he's saying he's Jesus.

And I just read enough of the Bible to know that the Bible says he's coming, and the clouds were caught up to meet him.

And I said, well, now, you know, doesn't the Bible say, I didn't want to hurt his feelings, because I thought, well, what if he is Jesus?

I have a lot of questions for him, you know?

I don't know, if he's Jesus, you don't want to offend him.

And so I said, you know, doesn't it say that like, you know, you're coming in the clouds?

He said, yes, that's right, but I'm meeting with a few selected individuals first to make me feel special, you know.

He stayed in my cave for like 2 and a half days and he ate all of my food and he was a slob.

I finally had to evict Jesus from my cave.

And a few days later I was down in Palm Springs and I saw him again.

And he was walking down the street with this other tall hippie and tall hippie said, this is Jesus.

And then a few days later I saw him and he was missing 1 of his eye teeth.

He had offended somebody or it was just not hard to do I guess if you're telling everyone you're God.

I feel bad about his tooth, but I mean, I know Jesus has all his teeth, and so that settled any doubts in my mind up to that point.

So, of course, there are people that are, they're not clear out there, and they say that they're Napoleon and Cleopatra and Jesus, but what I'm worried about is the ones that are smooth-talking wolves in sheep's clothing.

They claim, they say that, oh, I believe in Jesus.

Therefore, if they say, look, he is in the desert, do not go out.

Look he is in inner rooms, do not believe it.

We're supposed to stay away from and avoid.

If someone says, look Jesus is appearing on TV, I wouldn't even change the channel.

What will prevent the righteous from being deceived?

Answer, Isaiah 8, verse 20, to the law and the testimony.

Now, when it says the law and the testimony, that's a Bible way of saying the law and the prophets the Word of God the last scripture in the Old Testament says remember the law of Moses my servant behold I send you Elijah the prophet and in Revelation 19 verse 10 it says that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

And so, if they do not speak according to the Bible, how are you gonna tell the difference?

You remember during the Exodus, Moses threw down his rod, it became a serpent.

Well, the Pharaoh's magicians threw down their rods, they became serpents.

New Testament talks about a sorcerer named Simon who deceived the people with his miracles.

So you can't go by miracles, you can't go by feeling, you can't go by signs and wonders.

The only thing is, thus saith the Lord, Jesus said.

So you've got to read your Bible for yourself.

So what can we know about the time of Jesus' return?

We're gonna go quickly through some what I think are astounding evidences that give us some indication that Jesus' coming is soon.

First of all, nobody knows the day and the hour.

Matthew 24, 36, Jesus is really clear, he settled that.

Someone comes to you and says I did the calculation and I know the day he's coming or even if they start telling you they know the year he's coming.

A lot of the world have lost faith in Christ coming because there have been so many false shepherds that start setting dates on it.

God doesn't say he wants us to know the date.

How many of you wait until April 15 before you file your taxes?

The Great Basin Bristlecone Pine is 1 of the longest living organisms on earth.

Incredibly, it can live more than 4, 000 years.

In fact, 1 specimen called the Methuselah tree in the White Mountains of California is believed to be over 4, 700 years old, and it's among the oldest living trees on the planet.

This tree was around when the Egyptians were building the pyramids.

Some of these ancient evergreens found on lonely mountaintops have weathered thousands of years of intense freezing wind, pounding rain, scorching sun, and violent electrical storms.

How have they managed to survive for millennia of such harsh weather and adverse conditions?

They do it by sending their roots deep and wrapping them tenaciously around the solid rock and hanging on.

You know, friends, Jesus tells us that there's a time of tribulation coming just before his return, an intense, frightful storm of trouble unlike anything we've ever seen.

Is your life anchored on the solid rock of Christ?

Let's explore together from the Bible just what will happen in the last days.

The lesson tonight dealing with the coronation of the king is based on a story that you're going to find in your Bible in 2 Kings chapter 11.

And just to give you the background, there was a king named Jehu, king of Israel.

He came into power, and 1 day he killed 2 other kings.

He killed the king of Judea, the southern kingdom, and he killed his rival in the northern kingdom.

When Ahaziah died, his mother, who was the daughter of Jezebel, her name was Athaliah, was a wicked queen.

She did not want 1 of her grandchildren to rule in her place.

Normally it would have been 1 of the sons of David that would be ruling in the place.

But she was so bloodthirsty and ruthless, she killed her grandchildren, slaughtered her grandchildren so none of them would be king.

And she ruled over the land for 6 years as a tyrant.

Well, this reminds us of something that's happened several times in the Bible, where the devil has made an effort to eliminate the royal seed.

See, the devil knew that the Son of God was going to come into the world to save humanity.

And back in the days of Moses, Satan was worried that the Savior was going to come.

So he got the king of Egypt to kill all the baby boys.

And then during this story, Queen Athaliah, she killed all the descendants of David because God said the Messiah would come through the house of David.

And then King Herod, he went into Bethlehem, he killed all the baby boys in Bethlehem because, why?

Then you go to Revelation and you read where the dragon tried to destroy the man-child.

And all of it starts to come together when you see the stories in the history in the Bible.

So Athaliah was not able to get all of the grandchildren of David actually The aunt of a baby boy 1 years old by the name of Joash She scooped him up when they were annihilating all the other children, took him off to the temple.

She didn't spend much time in God's temple.

Well, it's kind of hard for a seven-year-old boy to stay quiet for very long.

The high priest, Jehoiada, he loved him like his own son.

He knew he was the last surviving heir of David's throne.

And Athaliah was making things worse and worse, and he said, we can't wait forever.

So when Joash turned 7, after 6 years of being in captivity, the high priest said, now's the time.

And then 1 preparation afternoon, he got the guard together, he said, I've got something special to show you he got 300 of the secure guard he said the son of David is still alive 1 survived he is the rightful King we need to coronate him And in 1 day the Bible says he brought out Joash the young boy, the people came to the temple to worship, they said the son of David still lives.

Everyone was wondering where that missing boy was.

The people shouted, they blew the trumpets, they put a little crown on his head, they gave him the royal scroll of the covenant, and they proclaimed him king.

Well, wicked Queen Athaliah heard all the commotion, she came running to the temple, she said, treason, treason!

And the high priest said, take her out and kill her and all that follow her.

And then 1 day the Son of David came out of the temple, they blew the trumpets, the people rejoiced, he received the kingdom and all the enemies were slain.

That is an allegory for what is coming, friends.

Jesus is our Savior, He's our High Priest.

He's by the throne of God in the heavenly temple.

He's going to come out of that temple and He's going to rescue His people.

Now, there's something that you find in the Bible, it's, A lot of scholars have looked at this.

If you look at Bible history, you can see that you just add up the ages in the Bible.

We know how long Adam lived and how long Abraham lived.

Adam was created somewhere around 4, 000 years BC.

We don't know the exact date and I'm not going to try and give that to you.

For 2, 000 years God preaches the gospel through what we call the patriarchs.

That would be Adam, Seth, Noah, Enoch, Methuselah.

By the way, who's the oldest man that ever lived?

Some of you have heard this before, yeah.

He's actually the oldest man that ever died.

For the next 2000 years, God works in a special way through the Hebrew people.

How could Jesus be born 4 years before Christ?

But when they set up the ADBC dating method, they just took their best stab at the date they thought Jesus was born.

And then later they found out that they were off several years because they know King Herod the Great died about 2 BC.

The Bible says it was as he began to be 30 years of age.

So you just count back and they say, oh they're off a little bit.

So you've got 3 stages, you see, 3 phases.

You've got the age of the patriarchs, 2, 000 years, the age of the Jews, 2, 000 years, the age of the church, 2, 000 years.

It says we live and reign with Christ during a thousand years when Satan is bound.

That'll be nice when Satan's bound right?

Bible always seems to work through a pattern of 6 and 1 6 and 1 6 and 1.

Moses stayed at the foot of the mountain for 6 days and then God called him up into the clouds on the seventh day.

The Bible tells us that the Jews would farm their land for 6 years, but the seventh year they let it rest.

You can read where you can have a Hebrew slave for 6 years but the seventh year he would go free.

How many times did Joshua march around the city of Jericho?

He marched around the city 1 time for 6 days.

Then on the seventh day he marched around the city 7 times and they blew the trumpets.
