In His Time

Let's surrender ourselves to God before we start.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before your throne, we come before you into your presence thanking you for this gift of another day when we can get to know you better, when we can become more like You.

And so I pray that You would be here with us in a special way.

Father, you've inspired me to share this message this morning and so I pray that you will be the 1 who will be sharing it with me.

I pray that I could speak in humility and with your conviction.

Father, we want to make ourselves available to You, so You could show us what You want to show us.

You could teach us what You want us to learn, and you could help us understand what you want us to understand.

Thank you that you've already answered and that you are faithful.

Could you Raise your hands if you've been praying intensively and for a long time for something but haven't received an answer yet.

You're seeking God's fill, holding onto his promises, but you still haven't experienced that breakthrough.

In today's devotion titled, In His Time, we'll explore what God's word says about this situation.

We'll uncover the mysteries of God's timing in a way that will help you never lose that hope again.

Even when a visible answer seems to take longer to come.

I know that it is a bold promise, I know that it is a big claim, but with God nothing is impossible.

We live in a time where we want everything right away.

We want to quickly reach our goals, get promotions, or achieve financial stability without going through the process of learning and growth.

We expect instant results from diets or exercise, even though we know lasting changes take time.

We long to grasp new concepts instantly and effortlessly, ignoring the time needed for learning.

We want to break bad hobbits or see changes in our character without daily discipline.

We expect everything to be instantly available, from a website loading to a text reply or next day delivery.

And as Christians, we've adopted this mindset too.

In Psalm 32, verse 9, the writer says, do not be like their horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you.

We want the answers to our prayers right away.

We want to understand His plans right away and we want to know right away who our godly spouse will be, which is the right school or the right job.

But in the previous verse 8 of Psalm 32 it says, I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.

If you are impatient, like a mule that wants to go its own way or a horse rushing forward recklessly, we can cause ourselves unnecessary problems.

God doesn't want us to be led by impulses or our own stubbornness.

He doesn't want to force us with a bridle and beat.

He wants us to wait humbly for His guidance, for His timing.

He wants us to follow Him with wisdom and trust that His plan and His timing are the best for us.

Open with me Ecclesiastes chapter 3 verse 1 where it says, to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.

A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck what is planted, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to keep silence and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time of war and a time of peace.

Everything has a designated time in His time.

We can see this throughout the entire Bible.

For instance, in the Old Testament in Exodus chapter 12 verse 41 we read, and it came to pass at the end of the 430 years, on that very same day, on that very same day, it came to pass that all the armies of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.

And then, 10 verses later, we read again verse 51, and it came to pass on that very same day that the Lord brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt according to their armies.

Israel did not come out of bondage simply at some random timing.

So God had predicted that Israel would be in Egyptian captivity for 430 years and the Bible says in 2 places on that very day God acts in his timing.

No 1 could prevent God from delivering his people on that day in his time.

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his son, born of a woman, born under the law.

Jesus was born at the appointed time, in his time.

Every season, when you think about it, every season arrives exactly when it's meant to, with no rush or delay.

Seeds take their time to sprout, trees bloom in due season, and the sun rises and sets with perfect precision.

The same is true if the birth of a child.

It takes 9 months for a baby to grow and be ready to enter the world.

Every stage in the process is necessary and cannot be rushed.

Just imagine the consequences if this process were disrupted.

God works in his time in your life, God works in his time in your family, God works in his time in your church, God works in his time in your job, God works in his time in your relationship.

For example, if you're waiting for the right moment to share important news, The impact can be vastly different depending on the timing.

In the Bible we see numerous instances where God's timing was crucial to the fulfillment of his plans.

As we've read about Jesus' ministry in Galatians 4.4, it was not launched until the time had fully come, showing that even though what he did was crucial, when he did it mattered deeply for God's perfect plan.

God knows when is the best time for everything.

I like this quote, if it's not God's time, you can't force it.

When it is God's time, you can't stop it.

If it's not God's time, don't force it, because you cause more harm than good.

Abraham and Sarah could speak a lot about this.

God promised them a son, but when the waiting seemed too long, they decided to act on their own.

Sarah gave Abraham her seventh Hagar to bear a child with her.

Ishmael was born, but this decision led to tension, conflict, and consequences that affected generations to come.

Had Abraham and Sarah trusted God's timing, they wouldn't have faced these problems.

Later in his time Sarah truly gave birth to Isaac, the promised son.

We read about this in Genesis chapter 21 verse 2 where it says, For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the sad time of which God had spoken to him." At the sad time of which God had spoken to him.

Another example is King Saul, when he didn't wait for the prophet Samuel to bring the offering before the battle.

And we read about this in 1 Samuel chapter 13.

Samuel told Saul to wait for him for 7 days, but when Samuel was delayed and Saul saw his army scattering, he decided to act on his own.

He brought the offering, which was against God's command, because it was the prophets' role, not the king's.

And this hasty decision caused Saul God's favor and his kingdom.
