Love, Lies, and Lasting Happiness

So glad you have decided to come out and join us this afternoon.

I'm looking forward to a really great time with all of you.

And I hope that when you leave today, you'll leave saying, I'm so glad I came here today.

Now, right at the outset, I want to share with you 4 reasons why I'm doing this seminar.

Now, for those of you who are young, single, not married yet, how many of you are saying, yeah, I too want Jesus to come, but after I get married?

Hey, I want you to understand the truth about marriage because a lot of young people don't understand the truth about marriage, and they're like, I want Jesus to postpone his coming till I get married.

Now, if Jesus postpones his coming for you, and then if you're Asian like me, and you have Asian parents, you know what Asian parents want?

So if you have to wait for the babies, and then the babies grow up, and we have to wait for them to get married, this is gonna take a while.

By the way, the Spirit of Prophecy tells us that with an army of workers, an army of youth rightly trained might furnish how quickly the message of a crucified risen savior might be preached to the world.

And so we need our young people and our youth to understand the truth about marriage.

Reason number 2 is because from time to time we have AFCO students, they fall in love.

And they fall in love, and what happens is they get totally distracted and they lose their focus.

You don't want to be on the roof of your house and fall off the roof.

You don't want to be a walking trip and fall on the sidewalk.

The second most important decision you can make in life is who you decide to marry.

You can ruin your life if you marry the wrong person.

And fourth and last reason I'm sharing this is because I am now on a mission to inspire and challenge men to become elite level husbands.

Friends, Jesus, our example and our inspiration, is an elite level husband, amen?

So, as we dive into this, let's begin with a word of prayer.

Loving, kind Father in heaven, I praise you and I thank you for Jesus who was the way, the truth, and the life.

Thank you, Lord, for giving us truth so that we can walk in the light and not stumble in the darkness.

I just pray, Lord, that you would send your spirit to be here with us.

Give us eyes to see, give us ears to hear, and most importantly, give us hearts that are willing to follow and practice the truth.

And Father, if there are any struggling marriages here, I pray that because of this seminar, that they would turn the corner to healing and restoration, is my prayer.

So there's this book called How to Ruin Your Life by 40 and it was written for young people, young people in their early 20s.

A lot of young people, they go through life hitting the snooze button every time the internal alarm clock goes off.

And so this book was written, and in a nutshell, there are 3 things you can do to ruin your life.

Just live your life apart from God, number 1.

You AFCO students, God has opened up the doors for you to come here to get this amazing training and guess what, you can flush it all down the toilet simply by going out and marrying the wrong person.

And number 3, ignore the law of cause and effect.

The Bible calls it the law of sowing and reaping.

My brother was, I was driving with my brother and he was singing this song, feelings, nothing more than feelings.

And I don't recommend this, but he was watching some comedian making fun of Asians.

And in the Asian language, we don't have the letter F.

Okay, so if something starts with F like feelings, it ends up coming out as beelings or peelings, all right?

And so that's the way, And that stuck with me.

Don't make important decisions based on feelings.

I've done this presentation at a Baptist nursing college, and I didn't want to use her real name, so this is her Spanish name, Elena Blanco.

She said, Satan is busily engaged in influencing those who are wholly unsuited to each other to unite their interests.

Okay, and he would love to be matchmaker for you.

He exalts in this work, for by it he can produce more misery and hopeless woe to the human family than by exercising his skill in any other direction.

Do you think Satan is happy about this seminar happening?

By the grace of God I am so glad I am I made it here and you made it here by God's grace.

By the way, I remember in seminary, 1 seminary professor saying that whenever he and his wife prepare to do marriage enrichment seminars, you know what happens during that week?

The devil attacks and all hell breaks loose.

I told them, hey, I need your prayers for this week.

How many of you would like some good news?

I'm going to start with some good news and then some bad news.

Men who are married live healthier, happier, and longer lives.

The bad news is that the same is not true for women.

Women who remain single tend to report being happier and healthier.

So, men, marriage is looking like a very sweet deal for you.

But for you ladies who are single, I recommend being single.

But if you need to get married, it's so important that you meet the right person.
