Sunlight, Modern Science, and Ellen White

I heard you cite research about if you're even near a window in a hospital.

I talked about that on another podcast, A Diary of a CEO, and the British newspapers, they lambasted that episode with Beyond It.

I wrote the editor and I showed them literally dozens of studies, but it's always the same story.

The sun is perfectly designed to allow more infrared light to come off of it.

The Earth's atmosphere is perfectly designed to allow that light to come in.

And then when it comes down to the human being, it's able to penetrate through and it's able to interact with the mitochondria.

After God has gone through all of the trouble of producing a sun and an atmosphere and a human body, we build a house and we go inside.

I came across a guy who was ready to be intubated for COVID.

The first words out of his mouth to me was, Doc, how much time have I got?

You know Ellen White says get out into the light and warmth of the Sun you pale and sickly ones.

I always pause when she says the warmth of the sun, because this is exactly how we feel infrared light.

I don't think anybody knew that infrared light was as beneficial as we know today, but yet there she is.

It's funny because over time, her accuracy has improved.

Were we given New Start to live 10 years longer?

He's a physician specializing in internal medicine, lung health, critical care, and sleep medicine.

He's also the co-founder of MedCram, which last time I checked, 1.6 million subscribers, where people have learned about topics like sudden light, mitochondria, circadian rhythm, and other aspects of health.

And today we're going to explore a simple but profound question.

Has modern life quietly disconnected us from 1 of the most basic ingredients of human health?

Seheult, welcome, and it's so great to have you with us.

I listened to 1 of the podcasts that you were on, and you mentioned about this patient that was going to die, and he asked 1 request, and that was to be outside.

Could you expound and tell us again a little bit about that story?

Yeah, it really opened my eyes, not so much for the benefits of sunlight, but just how powerful and quickly they could actually affect someone.

So I've been talking about sunlight and things that we'll talk about today, and then I got a call from Amy Hahnmeier, and that's this patient's mom, and she wanted to talk to me.

And so I emailed her and we set up a phone conversation.

And she went ahead and described what happened to her son.

This was probably around 2023, late 2023.

Her son was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia, acute lymphoblastic lymphoma, and had been put on chemotherapy.

This was in the Midwest, big, huge hospital system, And didn't realize at the time, but was admitted to the hospital in June for a upper respiratory infection.

And it soon became apparent that he developed a very serious, life-threatening, fungal infection of his left lung.

Admitted June 1st, and it was so severe that by the time we're getting around to July 1st, about a month later of him being in the hospital, he was then seeing a surgeon to perhaps take out his left lung.

The fungus had grown so much and had outstripped the blood supply that the antibiotics, the antifungals that he was on, which were very powerful, Amphotericin B, Posseconus, all these are very powerful antifungals, The fact that they're being delivered by the blood meant that it wasn't getting to where the fungus was.

It had sort of formed this necrotic center.

So he was transferred over to the adult side of the hospital for this surgery.

And on July 1st, to the day, a month after he was admitted, his lung was being taken out, his left lung.

He rebounded a little bit after that and then quickly started to get worse again and the worst fears were realized when they got another CT scan.

It showed that the right lung was now involved with exactly the same infection, despite the fact that he was on these very powerful antifungal medications.

By this point, he was requiring non-invasive mechanical ventilation, like a BiPAP mask.

He was on a lot of oxygen, doing worse, elevated white blood cell count, signifying the infection, had fevers, and really getting worse.

It was at that point that his mom told me that the physicians called a meeting.

Obviously, they couldn't take out the remaining lung.

Putting him on a ventilator was going to be pointless.

It was like a bridge to nowhere, because they were doing everything that they could, everything that they knew how to do.

So they, I mean, and this guy, by the way, he's 15 years old, he is on, he's on a machine, yeah, but he understands everything.

So they had to get, you know, psychiatrists and psychologists that are experts in how to talk to children to explain that he was dying, that he was not doing well, and that he wasn't going to live.

He asked the question, how long do I have?

And they told him about 2 days, based on how he was doing.

This is about 6 weeks now in the hospital.

We're in the middle of July, and you know, the mom really couldn't believe that this was happening.

And even just reciting the story to me, she started to tear up.

So they talked to him, and they said, this is what things are, and this is how things are gonna be.

And I can tell you as a health care provider, I'm a critical care physician, I'm in these situations a lot, not with kids, obviously I'm not a pediatrician, but when you're in a situation where you're doing everything that you can, everything that you know, and it's not working, you have this desire to just do anything.

In this case, that's exactly what it was in their minds.

And, you know, without knowing any of the stuff that we're about to talk about today, without knowing anything about the benefits of sunlight or anything like that, this kid just, he says, I just want to go outside.

So they said, well, sure, Let's have you go outside.

And the staff, the doctors, the nurses, the RTs, they did everything.

They packed this guy up into a sort of a chair-like structure with a ventilator strapped to it and the IV poles that he was getting, everything just sort of like this mobile care station, if you will, and they wheeled him outside so that he could enjoy the last couple of days of his life.

And his cousins were there, his friends were there.

So after the first day, and by the way, she sent me his medical records, so I had the ability to go through in detail exactly what was going on.

And I knew what, obviously, the things to look for since I'm a critical care physician.

The first day he went out there, his white cell count was over 20, he had a fever, and he was out there for about 5 hours.

And by the end of that day, he went back inside, went back out again on the second day.
