Act I: The Sanctuary Revelation In the Old Testament

We are going to be engaged in a very good study this afternoon, amen?

Now I know for those of you who have been into satanic forms of formal education, I'm being facetious, I've graduated from a secular university, I'm part of a secular university campus ministries.

When you get into a lecture mode, what automatically happens is you get into autopilot and you're just kind of, and you sit through something and it's very, very, very, very discouraging for a presenter or a speaker to be in that kind of room.

So, And especially for a topic as a sanctuary we're going to cover today, what we need is, I don't know what we need, but we definitely need the Lord's blessing, we need the Holy Spirit, but we also need a kind of collective, we're in this together, amen?

It's Sabbath afternoon, it's time for lay activities, but We're not going to do lay activities.

This is the first part in a six-part series.

And many people have been asking like, oh, this is like there's so much stuff.

I honestly can't say come to 2, 4, or 6 because they're all kind of linked with each other.

This was originally a two-hour seminar back in GYC Europe, but it's been expanded to 6 hours and we're covering a lot of stuff that I believe it's Fundamental for every Seventh-day Adventist.

And fundamental for every young Seventh-day Adventist.

And if you're young, we're not going to insult you and say this is above your pay grade or above your intelligence.

This is something that all young people need to grapple with.

Okay, so even though you feel the, if you feel the urge to fall asleep, stand up and walk around.

If you're falling asleep and you're Asian, just tape your eyes up really wide so that your eyes don't close because surface area, Anyway, there's a whole science behind that.

And then if you're walking around or you can take a nap in the back, but do whatever you gotta do to stay awake, amen?

You also have something to write with and some notes.

You will need notepaper and notes, a notebook, Get a piece of paper from your friend or get it on your iPhone or your Android, which is even better.

Okay, we're going to have a word of prayer and we're going to get started.

And This is the seminar entitled The Sanctuary Revelation in the Old Testament.

This is a larger seminar series called the Revelation, not Revelation, the Revolution of Destiny.

And I try to do the alliteration and do the RR thing, but sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn't.

Just go with the program and it'll make all sense later on.

Gracious Father, Lord, we are about to embark on a deep study.

And Father, it can only be deep if your presence is here.

So Father, we ask for the Holy Spirit, not just to bless us and to be with us, but to speak to our hearts.

And Lord, use our minds, use our bodies, use our very beings to communicate with us.

This is the essence of the sanctuary message.

Father be with every brother and sister in this room and for every person who listens to this message afterwards.

Father, we want to be solid on your word.

So grant us that experience here today we pray in Jesus name, amen.

And we are going to cover those Seventh-day Adventists who are in the church and also those who are out of the church who are anti the sanctuary message.

The Seventh-day Adventist message, the Seventh-day Adventist denomination is not just 1 other denomination.

Now, I know a lot of people say that, a lot of people preach it, teach it, but we don't know the essence of it.

The Seventh-day Adventist message, the whole theology, is based on 1 set of data, and the data comes all from which book?

There is no other denomination or systematic theology out there that is completely based on Scripture.

And I don't say that triumphalistically, I say that as objectively as possible.

Now, the Seventh-day Adventist message in its core has the sanctuary message.

It is 1 of the, if not the only unique component of our faith.

Are there other Sabbath keepers out there?

You have the Advent Christian Church, you have the Church of God, you have Seventh-day Baptists, you have Seventh-day Pentecostals, and you have Catholics who go to church and hold Mass on Sabbath.

There are some Catholics who believe the Sabbath.

They are like a weird hybrid, only in America.

Anyway, are there other people who have the health message?

You've got people who are eating granola in Seattle and they're healthier than us Seventh-day Adventists.

Why are you saying amen that other people are healthier than us?

Okay, I'm going to be a little bit a little more animated.

I'm like, I'm not like this in real time, you understand.

But it's but we need to I'm trying to prevent the the Sabbath effect.

All right, are there other denominations who believe in the state of the dead as we do?

Are there other people who believe, who have a version of the spirit of prophecy, a version of it?

But are there people who believe in a heavenly sanctuary?

This is a unique component to our faith and this is not just 1 other document, 1 other belief of the 28, 1 other component, but I believe this is the central nexus of everything that we're all about and the central nexus is centered on Jesus Christ.

Are you guys happy to be Seventh-day Adventists?

Seventh-day Adventists are the fullest expression of discipleship with Jesus Christ.

Act II: The Pentecostal Reflection in the Book of Acts

This message was presented at the GYC 2012 conference in Seattle, Washington.

How many of you were here in yesterday's Sabbath afternoon seminar?

If you kind of get overwhelmed, then that's okay.

Just get the previous recording and maybe it'll be a little bit more, it'll be a little bit more, it'll make sense to you a little bit more.

Let's have a word of prayer and we'll get started.

Gracious Father, Lord, we thank you for the message this morning and we ask that you speak to our hearts.

Father, help us to transcend the content, the speaker, the medium, the conference itself.

Help us to have experience with you and Lord may our eyes now be upon the heavenly sanctuary where your Son does minister on our behalf.

Seminar is entitled, this is the second 1 in a series.

The entire series is called A Revolution of Destiny, The Sanctuary Context.

The second seminar is entitled The Pentecostal Reflection in the Book of Acts.

Yesterday, just from a popcorn style, what do you remember from yesterday, really quick?

Aphram is the ox, okay, If you don't understand that, then tough.

There's a voice coming from here, but I don't see a mouth that speaks.

We'll cover all those things and you're reading your notes.

Anyone else, what do you remember from yesterday?

He's the King of Kings, son of a human being, divine, and the suffering servant of Isaiah 53.

All right, if we're going to continue on here, we talked about spatial positioning yesterday, that the sanctuary is an eschatological timeline.

Eschatology is the science or the study of last day events.

Theologians like to putology at the end of everything.

Okay, so it's protology, it's the study of creation.

If it's eschatology, it's the study of last things.

Okay, then you have, I won't go into all this, it's boring.

So you have the timeline that we talked about.

The Most Holy Place is 1844 to 2JC, and 2JC stands for?

Then you have anthropological parallels, you have the mental, spiritual, and physical.

You have justification, sanctification, glorification.

If they're just big words, then just let them be big words, amen?

But there's a lot of meaning behind this, and we're not trying to dissect everything and try to put big words to it.

We're trying to accurately look at what the ministry of Jesus Christ entails and what's going on.

Okay, so we're not trying to just blah, blah, blah, blah, and add big words because we're weird.

And then you have eschatological emphases.

You have some groups within Christianity that are really focused and obsessed with 1 portion of the sanctuary.

And I submit to you as biblical Seventh-day Adventists, who are centered in Jesus, we are not to only look at Jesus in the courtyard, Jesus in the holy place, or Jesus in the most holy place, but Jesus in the entire sanctuary.

And I believe this is the secret to balance.

The secret is balance is not left and right mixing 2 of these things together, but it's looking at holistically the entire ministry of Jesus.

Today we're looking at Leviticus chapter 23.

If you have your Bibles turn to Leviticus chapter 23.

There is, if there's 1 chapter in the Bible that would describe the entire ministry of Jesus Christ, it would be not John chapter 3.

It would not be Isaiah chapter 53, it wouldn't be a Romans chapter 6, 7, and 8, it wouldn't be Genesis chapter 1, it wouldn't be anything from Exodus chapter 20, or even Revelation 14.

It would actually be Leviticus chapter 23.

The previous slide you see was spatial positioning.

Spatial positioning helps you kind of see through a space diagram where Jesus actually is.

In a temporal diagram here you see what Jesus is doing in the calendar.

Today's calendar is based on a Roman calendar, based on 10 months.

And because there's these 2 dudes named Julius and Augustus, and like, dude, I want a month with my name on it, so we inserted a month called July.

And the other 1 we call it, it's August, and it's so awesome that we don't have to go to school in those months.

And we praise the Lord for Julius and Augustus.

It's based on paganism, and just because it's based on paganism, does that mean we should eschew it and do away with the calendar?

No, let's just use it as a calendar, amen?

Act III: The Holy Place Relocation in the Book of Revelation

The third part of the seminar is entitled, The Holy Place Relocation in the Book of Revelation.

I use the word relocation because it's not being relocated, but it's just for alliteration.

This seminar will help us understand the book of Revelation.

Book of Revelation can be seen as difficult, but there is an outline, there's a map that will help us really to, also help to top our heads, really look at where Jesus is in the sanctuary, in the Revelation.

There are 2 services that occurred in the sanctuary.

The first 1 was called the daily service or another word was called the continual.

So in the Hebrew calendar there are 360 days.

Of those 360 days, 359 days were dedicated with the daily.

1 day was dedicated for the yearly, even though the daily did occur also in the yearly but the focus was more on the yearly.

The daily was 1 of the most important services.

It occurred every morning and evening and also for penitents.

There are Hebrew stories of priests, entire systems of priests who would wait early on the morning and they'd wait for the sun to peak right above the horizon.

And the minute, and this is the job of 1 priest just to look for this every morning, and the minute the sun would peak up, he'd blow the horns.

I don't know if that's what it sounded like, but that's how it was in my imagination.

And then while he's doing that on the mountainside in the courtyard, there is a priest with a lamb and he just has the knife to its throat and he's just waiting to hear the sound of the horn.

And the minute he hears the horn, that the lamb is sacrificed.

And this happens every morning and every evening.

For the penitent person, the person can bring a lamb to the sanctuary.

And there's always transfer that's implied.

Then the sin is transferred from the lamb to the lamb's blood because the priest is collecting the blood.

Then the priest is carrying the blood, so in essence, the priest is carrying my sin.

Then He goes inside the sanctuary, the holy place, and he takes the blood and he sprinkles it into the veil that separates the most holy place and the holy place.

Sin goes from me to the lamb, to the blood, to the priest, to the veil, which is the sanctuary.

I'm like, well, if Jesus is the lamb, then who's the priest?

And because Jesus is using different object lessons, and what we have to do is just take all these object lessons and just like, and who's that?

The people provided the offerings in that week.

The Levites helped the priest with menial tasks and saying, just to give you a little insight on the sanctuary life there.

Of that week During the 6 days, just any normal week.

You have the bronze or copper altar of sacrifice.

It doesn't matter what metal is out there, but It looks like gold, but it is not gold.

If you find that Exodus 27, 1 through 8, it had rings.

You put the poles in, poles and people would carry it on their shoulders.

It was made out of wood and is overlaid with bronze.

And this alludes to the dual nature of Christ.

You have his human component and you have his divine component.

But in the courtyard, you have something that looks like gold, but it isn't gold, symbolizing when Jesus came to this earth, he was completely divine, but he was not divine in his pre-existent state, if you will.

You find this text there, Habakkuk 3.4, Jeremiah 48.25, Amos 3.14.

And then this altar of sacrifice always had holy fire on it.

The holy fire is found in Leviticus 9, 24, 2 Chronicles 7, 1.

So what happens is They set up the entire sanctuary and they waited.

And if this was pleasing to God, fire would come down from heaven.

And this fire was always kept continually alive by the priests.

Now don't ask me the question, what happened when the fire went out?

I don't know because we have no record of the fire being going out.

Maybe if the fire went out, maybe the Lord sent another whatever.

Now, this fire in the altar of sacrifice was the Same fire used to light the candlestick and the same fire that was used to light the altar of incense.

Now, this is the same story where we see some of the priests who are saying like, oh, this is so annoying, so we're going to get strange fire.

When I thought, when I was little and read strange fire, I'm like, ooh, strange fire, like it's purple in fire, and it's a green fire.

Strange fire in Hebrew means common fire, yes?

So these guys were so lazy, and they didn't want to deal with holy fire, that they just took out a lighter from after smoking a cigarette, and they were lighting the candlestick with their lighters, and the Lord was not happy with that.

Next to the bronze altar was the bronze sea, or it's also called a cleansing laver, found in Exodus 30, 17-21.

This was a wash basin made out of copper.

And this was donated to the Mosaic Temple by all the ladies because back then you had no mirrors.

The ladies would take a piece of bronze and they'd rub it with mercury or something.

They'd shine it, shine it, shine it, shine it, and become shiny enough, you can see yourself and apply makeup and pig lard and then, you know, camel's blood and then, you know, shells and that's the big makeup, yes?

Now they were saying, hey, we don't want these pieces of mirrors because they symbolize vanity So we'll donate this to the sanctuary.

The sanctuary melted all these mirrors together and they made a humongous tub out of it.

The priests would wash their hands and their feet, but especially their feet before they went into the holy place.

Today, we have a foot washing service that is an allusion to this service from back then.

Back then, washing feet was a big, big, big deal.

The 1844 Revolution in the Most Holy Place, Part I

The seminar is entitled, A Revolution of Destiny, The Sanctuary Context.

The seminar number 4 is entitled, The 1844 Revolution in the Most Holy Place.

The first seminar we covered the general aspects of the sanctuary and we talked about the 12 tribes and how even the address where you lived reflect the Lord Jesus Christ.

We looked at the 4 faces of Jesus and for those of you who are here on, when was that, Saturday afternoon, what are the, what were the 4 faces of Jesus?

Not the 4 animals, but the 4 faces of Jesus.

The Son of Man, Suffering Servant, the Divine Son of God, and the King of Kings.

And in the second seminar we covered the calendar that revolved itself around the sanctuary, and even the calendar reflected Jesus, yes?

And we looked at the fall fest, the spring festivals that reflected Jesus's ministry when his first time here, and we looked at the Spring Festival, so I'll talk about what will happen before Jesus comes the second time.

And we looked at us particularly in the Pentecost and how we today are a fulfillment or The continuing fulfillment of that and that whatever happens in heaven, there are repercussions here on earth.

And then the second seminar, the third seminar was on, what was the third seminar on?

The third seminar was we went through the Holy Place.

I don't even remember the seminar that I gave yesterday.

The third seminar was on the Holy Place, and we looked at the articles of the furniture in the Holy Place.

Golden lampstand and showbread and an altar of incense and then how we went into directly into the Holy Place in the book of Revelation and we're following Jesus And after you see the backbone structure that Jesus went to, the golden candlestick, and then the 7 churches, he once goes to the table of showbread, the 7 seals, and he goes to the golden altar of incense, and you have the 7 trumpets, and we talked about that, and these 3 septets are paralleling each other, paralleling each other.

Today we're gonna take 1 step further and then go into the most holy place, most holy place.

There's something very familiar, and I mentioned this yesterday.

How many of you are here for the first time?

Now, I use the bananas thing as a frivolous kind of comic thing, but do you understand how those of you guys who are in the in, do you feel like you're in the in?

And for those of you who are in the out, do you totally feel like you're in the out?

Okay, and so that's how when if you understand the sanctuary and you're reading Daniel and Revelation, especially those 2 books, it's very, very familiar.

You kind of know your GPS bear, it's like, oh I know this place.

If you don't know the sanctuary and you read Daniel Revelation, you're like, whoa.

And you're like, maybe this is not my thing.

Hopefully, this will all kind of congeal together.

Something that I wanted to mention is that the, I mentioned yesterday, is the sanctuary is kind of like God's house.
