Its Time For a NEWSTART

How many of you did not have a good lunch?

Some of you are just like… Well, I'm going to invite Wati and Earl to come up here and I'm going to do a little interview.

You know, to have the… to have the talk right after lunch is the best way to identify all the diabetics or pre-diabetics.

Because they are, you know, kind of their blood sugar's up and their attention's down.

Doug was introducing me earlier as D-Mac, which sounded like a rapper or some kind of name like that.

But my actual name is Don McIntosh, not D-Mac, although For Doug, evidently it is.

And I'm really excited to be a part of the medical missionary movement in the church.

And about a year ago, after I had served as the director of an evangelism school for about 5 and a half years, the Lord laid on my heart and also the opportunity to start a new health evangelism school.

And these students right here were actually in the first class, And they're still alive, amen?

And let me just interview them and introduce them to you first.

What are your names and how much money do you have in your bank account?

My name is Wati Pakleb and I'm not sharing that.

Okay, well a little bit about myself is I work hand-in-hand with my husband, my husband Taj Pakleb.

We actually do evangelism for the Central California Conference, And we also get invited to speak other places in the country and internationally as well.

So I work with him and I'm a registered nurse.

Okay, so you work with your husband, you're a registered nurse.

And by the way, how many of you know Taj Paklip?

Actually, a couple years ago, when I was the director of an evangelism department for another ministry in Northern California, I did a survey of all the various evangelists in North America.

And I discovered that Taj Paklub does more meetings per year than any other evangelist in North America, at least at that time.

I'm also studying to be a personal trainer.

At the moment I'm doing full-time ministry with my church, holding seminars and running health programs.

And often I get called to speak at other churches about the health message.

All right, and let me just talk a little bit about the health program.

That's an acronym, Health Evangelism and Leadership Training for him.

And you came to that, and it was the first program.

And when you came, what did you want to get out of the program?

For myself, the reason why I went to the health program is because I thought this would be really good with the gospel ministry.

Since my husband does evangelism, I want to learn the right arm of the gospel to go along with the gospel ministry so we can be a holistic ministry.

When I went to the program, I was in Venice for about a year, and I noticed that eating healthy and living healthy changed my life.

But I wanted to be able to share it with others in a manner that I can show them in the Bible that the health message is important.

And so now I'm able to share with family, friends, and people I meet on the streets how health is connected to the Bible, how God wants us to be healthy.

He was a guest at our current program and he taught us all how to exercise and my legs still don't work after you took us on the trails, Earl, but thanks for coming up.

And then, Wati, tell me, you also came with some physical objectives, right?

Well, for myself, I wasn't looking at the health program for me though God did bless me physically I was I have a disease called endometriosis and so during that time I would say looking back that I was, endometriosis is what I identified with.

It was just everything about, that's, I don't know the word.

So you had a lot of pain Yes, everyone for the past 5 6 years I would suffer with a lot of pain so much so that in order to function and actually help my husband with the gospel work.

I had to take like Vicodin and a lot of different things just to function, like I couldn't even get up at times.

And would you say that you were depressed?

Looking back now, I would say yes, I was depressed during that time.

I was depressed even though I was out there doing ministry with my husband, working hand in hand with him, giving Bible studies, I was depressed looking back because I had this disease and it was controlling my life.

Now, when you first heard about it, I said you should come and you said no I'm not going to go to your program and then your husband said to me no I think she needs to go to your program and I thought whoa.

And then you came and what happened during the program to you personally?

During the program, we got to just practice.

We learned the 8 laws of health, New Start.

In order to be health evangelists and medical missionaries, we need to live the health principles.

And so we got to practice it ourselves and we got to implement it by going door to door, being personal health coaches.

And during the time that I implemented Especially Exercise, It was so amazing because we did a 5K every day.

I just started walking 5Ks and then started jogging, and that definitely improved my health.

The first month that I was there at Weimar, just making these changes, I had no pain.

I haven't experienced no pain for 5 years.

And you know, in that class, I think collectively we lost about, well, adding the staff to it, nearly 300 pounds.

And there was only, what, 17, 18 people in the class.

So we basically lost an entire person and a half.

And I know even myself, I lost like 18 pounds in that particular class and we just had a great time together.

Earl what did you get out of the class personally besides humiliating all of us with the exercise routines?

Personally I learned a lot about the health message as far as teaching it to others.

I implemented it before I went to the course somewhat, but now I fully understood what the health message is about and how to implement it and to teach it to others.

And it also taught me how to be an evangelist and to be able to get up there and speak in front of people or to share my faith with others through the health message.
