How to Make Appeals and Gain Decisions for Christ- Part 1

As we spend time together in studying, Father, we pray that you will guide and direct our thoughts, and we thank you for hearing us.

First of all, as you see on the screen, and that 1 over there, can you see that 1 okay?

All right, I'll move this away so I won't be in the way.

Mission College is the mother of all those other schools like Arise, AFCO, all of those.

Any of you have heard of Arise, AFCO, Josiah?

Okay, all those people that started those schools studied at Mission College.

My wife and I are the founders of Mission College, and so we trained David Asherick and all of these young pups.

And so We are running, this is the new campus, the newest campus, it's down in Canyonville, Oregon, and that's the information if you want to find out where to get some lengthy training, three-month training.

We discovered that some people just need more training because they don't have sufficient knowledge of the scriptures or how to do evangelism, what to do, what not to do, and so we do it there.

Now there are several books that I have written that you can use.

Any of you have seen this book, Gaining Decisions?

It's 1 thing to see it, it's another thing to read it.

And so, Gaining Decisions will be a good book for you, not because I wrote it, but because it has the information in it that will help you to understand the dynamics that I'm presenting here for you this morning.

And it's in these different languages, so if you speak 1 of these languages unfortunately it's not in in Sweden or is it in Norwegian but it's when 1 of these languages another book that I've written is called great stories and this is actually to help you know how to make public appeals and that's what it looks like Another book that I've written is called Great Stories, and this is actually to help you know how to make public appeals, and that's what it looks like.

Another book that I've written is called Bodicin's Discernible Bible Passages.

There are many texts in the Bible that are hard to understand or to explain.

You have friends that come and say, look what the Bible says.

And when you look at it, it seems to say what they say it says, but a closer examination leads you to realize that what they're telling you it says is not what it says.

Many times what they tell you it says, it's the opposite of what the text is actually saying.

And I don't have time this morning to give you an explanation or a demonstration of that.

But I think, for example, I'll give you just 1 quick quick verse in the Bible in the book of Romans chapter 10 verse 4 it says for Christ is the end of the law and a lot of people who don't believe that you need to keep the law anymore we'll show you that text to prove that Christ ended the law okay and when you read it it seems like it says Christ ended the law because it says Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to them that believe first to the Jew and then to the Greek.

But the actual verse does not say that Christ ended the law, it says Christ is the end of the law.

So you have to find out what the word end means.

And in other verses of Scripture in the Bible for example if you read in James and in Peter in 1 it says seeing the end of your faith so the word end means to finish kaput then it means it done the faith is done away with right and in first Peter it says the end of the Lord.

Well if the word end means to finish it means that the Lord has ended, it means that faith has ended, correct?

The word end means is the outcome or the goal.

So the goal of your faith is your salvation.

The outcome of your faith is your salvation.

The goal of the Lord is to be patient with you.

The outcome of the Lord is His patience towards you.

In other words, when you see the law, you're convicted about what's wrong, and the only 1 that can help you is who?

So Christ is the end of the law for righteousness.

But if you don't know that and they said, here's what it says, it says Christ ended the law.

You get shaken up and you think, oh no, here's a text I haven't seen before.

But the reality is that many of these texts say the opposite.

Then there's another book called Demons and Angels or Angels.

And the reason for this book is to deal with what is called demon possession.

There are a lot of people who are confused about demon possession, what it is, what it's not, how you deal with it, what do you do with it if you have somebody who possess?

And so that book is written for that purpose, okay?

There are many other books that I've written, but I'm going to go now to the presentation, Gaining Decisions.

How many of you have given Bible studies?

And how many of you have led people to a decision?

How many of you have given Bible studies and nobody has decided?

And most of the time that's what happens, right?

So the purpose of this class is to help you to understand the dynamics of what happens in gaining a decision, OK?

Because I think you would like to have success.

When you plant a garden, any of you do any garden?

And when you plant a garden, what's the purpose of planting the garden?

How many of you would like to plant a garden when you never get any fruit or any produce from it?

If you'd never gotten any results, you wouldn't plant another garden, Right?

So if you plant flowers and no flowers come up, what do you do?

You try to figure out why the flowers didn't come up, right?

You just don't give up and say, well, the flowers didn't come up, so I'll never plant any more flowers.

You plant tomatoes and there's no tomatoes, and you try to figure out why there's no tomatoes.

So, you need to find out what is the problem.

So, if you've given Bible study and you have not had results, then what's the problem?

You just don't say, well, I don't know how to do it, I might as well not do it, I don't have any results, it's not my calling, the evangelist should do it or the pastor should do it.

Jesus did not say, follow me and you may catch fish.

He said, follow me and I will, what does it say?

Make you, come on gentlemen, fishes of men.

Follow me and I will make you fishes of men.
