Powerful Sanctuary Secrets

My last name is a little hard to remember, but it's Liney Weber.

And I'd like to take a moment or 2, if you don't mind, to have a word of prayer before we begin our session together, okay?

Our loving Father which art in heaven, what a privilege it is to be 1 of your children, Lord.

And Thank you so much that you have brought us all together here today.

We ask, Father, that your Holy Spirit will be the 1 that does the teaching, Lord, that each 1 of us will learn, including myself.

Guide and direct in all that is said to give you the honor and glory and no 1 else.

Thank you again for this opportunity to be here and I pray this in Jesus' name, amen.

I'm actually a teacher at Oklahoma Academy and of course my subject that I teach is the sanctuary.

And for the last 15 years I've been at Oklahoma Academy and the last 10 or so years we've been, We have this large sanctuary that we built back in actually 1995 is when it was built before I moved to the school.

And that sanctuary is full, the full size, it's exactly the way it would have been if you were in the Israel's day and you would have seen the sanctuary.

Now of course there can be an argument there and understand that I'm more about giving the information that I can receive from the scriptures and share what I can't get from the scriptures and everybody else wants to elaborate on.

I have to kind of just smile and say, okay.

But I have to stick with the scriptures because we take the sanctuary out there.

And when I was built at the scale, there was several different options to use for the cubit size.

Whether it was more or less, but we get the idea, this is pretty close to the size it would have been.

And we travel around and we meet lots of people and as we meet the people, we just show them how the sanctuary applies, how it worked back in those days.

And 1 of the thing is I have an author that's my favorite author and it's Ellen G.

White and I get that paper that you have there is a quote.

And that quote is kind of a reason why I believe the sanctuary is so interesting today like it is and so many people when we travel with it want to know about the sanctuary.

Just so you do know, the sanctuary, we do have 3 full models and sometimes we have all 3 going at the same time and we travel into other parts of the world as well.

And so, the reason why I'm telling you this is I want you to walk away today not looking at what I am doing, looking at what God is doing and how valuable the sanctuary message really is to his last day church.

Sometimes I think we throw it into the Old Testament and we forget that it's in the New Testament as well.

And so, we're going to examine some things and unfortunately, we only have 1 hour.

And so, there's no way I'm going to be able to share with you everything that there is.

So there's some things I'm going to just bring out and let you look into some of those things to further your knowledge later to get to the points that I'm trying to get at through this afternoon.

I mean through this meeting this morning.

Now the quote that you have there on that piece of paper, on your bookmark says, there are many precious truths contained in the Word of God.

And just so we don't just read it without understanding, this is the Word of God.

Do you agree there's many precious truths contained in the Word of God?

It says here, but it is present truth that the flock needs now.

And so I'm looking at that, I'm thinking, wow, because flocks, we're starting to get into imagery here, and Jesus says, I have sheep that are where?

That's right, they're in other folds and so I'm thinking from the standpoint of being in the church in the last day and as she's saying this there's many precious truths contained in the Word of God but it's precious truth that the flock needs now.

So I'm thinking about those in the other churches as well as not just in the church but also the other churches.

So this verse this is not just for for you and I.

She goes, I have seen the dangers of messengers running off from the important points of present truth to dwell upon subjects that are not calculated to unite the flock and sanctify the soul.

So here she's saying, you know, there are lots of things in here that are precious truths, but you need to unite the flock.

The flock, you know, think about it, he's gonna come, right?

But he says, the subject, so we're gonna go on and says, now by the way, Satan takes advantage of that.

When you and I get sidetracked onto something that's not present truth and we go way off into it and spend all this time and energy into it, Satan's the 1 that's getting...

He's the 1 that's benefiting from this because you've gotten off of what God has designed for us to do to unite the flock.

Okay, so remember that's really our purpose.

Okay, but it goes on to say, but such subjects as the sanctuary, now naturally I would find 1 that says the sanctuary because I talk on the sanctuary, right?

It says the sanctuary in connection with the 2300 age.

So now we're dealing with the the prophecies as well right?

Okay and the commandments of God, 10 commandments, the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Now the faith of Jesus, we don't really hear a lot about the faith of Jesus, it's kind of, but it does say in the Revelation, here are they that keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus.

So it is something that plays a role in the end.

So these are the subjects right here, it goes on to say, are perfectly calculated to explain the past Advent movement, okay?

And show what our present position is, establish the faith of the doubting, and give certainty to the glorious future these I have how often that's the key she says I frequently seen this now this was was spoken to Ellen Ellen G white years ago so in other words this is something that she that we ourselves should be paying attention to.

We're the principal subjects on which the messengers should dwell.

So that's why I think the sanctuary message and the sanctuary being set out in the communities meets such good reviews, so to speak, and people come to see it, is because God has designed this as being part of what God is going to use in the last days to unite His flock.

So keeping that in mind, now there's another 1 I want to read to you, it's on the back side of it.

It says, the subject of the sanctuary and the investigated judgment should be clearly understood by the people of God.

Again, I have to stop and say, wait a minute, it's not just those in our church that he's referring to.

So as I'm looking at this, I'm saying it's the subject of the sanctuary and the vestige it should be understood by the people of God all need a knowledge for themselves of The position and work of their great high priest now you're starting to see that This is kind of an important thing.

It says, otherwise it will be impossible.

Now, if God says something's impossible, don't try to change what God says.

He says, otherwise it will be impossible for them to exercise the faith which is essential at this time or to occupy the position which God designs them to fill.

That's why I'm going to spend some time with you on the sanctuary, okay?

I don't know everything about the sanctuary.

I'm still learning myself and I've been doing this for 20 years.

That God says His way is in the sanctuary and that's just...

That's enough for me to see if God's ways in the sanctuary who doesn't want you to know about the sanctuary so now that's right so it's the best it's in his best interest for us not to know the sanctuary so note that right away let's know let's start to know what it is because it's an he doesn't know if he doesn't want something I want to be against him not God okay die well God is in the sanctuary now I want to give you a visual because he doesn't just speak in words he also speaks in symbols and visual okay and he when he told him to make the sanctuary, just look at how, what he said.

He says, make it after the pattern, okay.

So God gave them the colors, he gave them the sizes, and all of these things.

He didn't just say, make some, make me a building and put it in a courtyard.

So all of these things have something, because it's telling the story of the plan of redemption to save mankind.

So if you understand that, Now, granted, I don't understand all the things God pictured here, but as I'm sharing things with you, in your study, what you study, things are going to pop out that you've picked up on already, okay?

Now, I put a cross right there at the entrance of the gate there to illustrate the entrance going into the sanctuary.

And I noticed that the sun gets up, comes up in the east and it travels to the west.

And so I'm looking at nature telling me the direction, the light is leading me to west, it's going west.

As I'm looking at this, the sun comes up and now as the sun comes up in the beginning, it's going to illuminate the cross upon the ground, casting a shadow.

And so as I looked at that shadow, many of you have probably already seen this, but that shadow will touch every piece of furniture in the sanctuary, including the arms, will be here where you come to the candlesticks in the table of showbread and all the way into the most holy place.

So you have this shadow that is on the ground.

Now I want to establish this thought in your mind as we're going to go through some verses, you'll see that that pathway is the path back to God.

That's the shadow that goes in, the shadow, if you visualize the shadow, anything If you go off to the side of the shadow, you're gonna fall down a cliff.

The Truth As It Is in Jesus

Father in heaven, you are the God of the universe and we are here right now in your presence with a sincere desire to hear your voice.

Father, we confess that we're weak, our minds don't operate as clearly and energetically as they should.

Emotionally, Lord, we have been injured and hurt and wounded and jaded, and so we have blockages in our perception of you.

I pray right now that you would intervene on our behalf, that you would take mercy on us, Lord, that you would be present right now with us.

May each 1 of us hear your voice speaking in our hearts in Jesus name amen.

I want to begin by by telling you about a little girl that means a lot to me and she communicated a very very significant level of theological clarity for me.

She didn't mean to, but she was like Ben, very curious about the big people meetings.

She was only 5 years old, and every evening she was sitting in the meetings to my left, 1 or 2 rows back, whatever she chose, night by night.

Her mom came to me a few times and said, I've tried to get her to go to the children's meetings, She absolutely refuses.

When I ask her why, she looks at me and she says, "'Mommy, because I like that man.'" So we started developing a relationship between the meetings.

And when we came to the end of this, I think it was a two-week series.

Little Megan came from the back up the middle aisle, and she had a piece of paper in 1 hand, and her other hand was raised in some kind of motion of declaration.

She was going to say something to me that she wanted me to know.

Her mom was coming from behind, coaching her along, and as she came up to me, there we were, pretty much alone, just Megan and myself, and the Lord God of Heaven looking in on Megan's heart, her mom coaching from behind.

We stood there as the lights were going off in the auditorium.

I was gathering up my things, and she looked at me and she said, Mr.

She said, I love you, The word love with many syllables.

I love you with all my, and she lost the word.

And she smiled because she felt like she accomplished her goal.

She found the word, but it wasn't the right word.

And her mom said from behind, it's your heart, sweetie.

Tai, that would be all my heart with which I love you.

And then that piece of paper, she handed it to me.

And I found myself looking at 1 of the most beautiful works of art I've ever seen.

My wife Sue and I got bored silly walking through that place for days literally.

I've seen the best and most beautiful art in the world and this just, just way more significant, So beautiful.

I looked at the picture and Megan said, do you see it?

And I'm looking and it's obvious that there's some water, there's a sky, there's birds in the sky, there's sun and it's shining.

And then there are 2 people walking and she said, do you see it?

I said, yeah, now that you mention it, I can see that.

And for me, that was theology at its deepest and highest level.

That's what eternity future looks like from God's perspective on a grander scale with a lot more detail, but in substance, at the heart of the matter, the core of the thing, it's God looking at you and me and saying, listen, all of this is so that you and I can be together because we like each other.

You don't like me so much, hence the plan of redemption.

We're moving through a process And that process involves the rebuilding of relationship with you.

The Bible can be difficult to understand at times.

But what I'm suggesting to you is that the message of Scripture essentially comes down to God painting a picture of what reality could be like if we were restored in relationship with him.

God is in the process of painting a picture of what the world and the universe could be like.

We're everybody's friends and there's no insecurity And you never look into anybody's eyes and wonder where you stand with them.

And you never posture, and there's no politics, and nobody really cares who has what, or more, or less.

And everybody is in relationship with 1 another.

If you can imagine this, everybody's in a relationship with 1 another that would be like the best relationship you've ever had without all the dysfunction.

If you just picture You as your very best you.

You minus all the wounds, all the damage, all the craziness, all the insecurity, everything that's ever happened.

Imagine you with all the dysfunction removed, with all the beautiful personality traits and characters that God has invested in you when he, according to David, knit you together in your mother's womb and gave you all that latent potential that resides inside of you just waiting to shine forth, to flower forth under the influence of his love.

Just imagine you as the best possible you that you could ever be, and everybody else, the best possible them that they could ever be, and then spending eternity together.

Can you imagine everybody, millions of people redeemed for eternity and all of them you have completely clear, open-hearted relationships with them?

And then on top of that, you can look straight into the eyes of Almighty God and feel perfectly at home there.

And just kick back with Jesus under the tree of life and talk about whatever?

That's the picture that's being painted, but there's theology along the way.

And we don't need to complicate it, we can make it as simple as possible.

The Apostle Paul wrote some things that are difficult to understand.

In part 1 of our three-part series together, we're going to look at something very complex that the Apostle Paul said, that is pretty much the most important thing Paul ever said in a nutshell, and we're going to make it very, very simple.

In Galatians chapter 5, the Apostle Paul gives us the essential core of Christian theology in the plan of salvation.

In a single statement he says, we, speaking of you and me, believers in Christ, we through the Spirit, so the Holy Spirit is actively involved in nurturing and prompting something from within us.

We through the Spirit are experiencing eagerness.

That could be translated, we have anticipation.

The idea here is, as Ben said, I'm gonna be on the edge of my seat.

This isn't kicking back, leaning back, bored.

The Holy Spirit is stimulating inside of human hearts eagerness.

What is it, if we could wrap words around what it is?

Well, Paul gives us some words to contemplate here.

The Holy Spirit is actively engaged with us, stimulating desire, longing, eagerness in us so that we are waiting for the hope of, and what's that term that you're probably familiar with?

This is the only time in all of Scripture that this term as a complete term occurs in the Bible.

Now the Bible elsewhere speaks of justification by faith.

Making Sense of the Former and Latter Rain

We thank you for men and women who have answered your call to serve.

We thank you for Jesus who has called us to serve.

And we pray that the Holy Spirit may speak to hearts and minds today that you may well make up my limitations for my limitations and deficiencies, and that you may speak to our hearts.

I pray, Father, that you may change my own plans as necessary according to the needs that each of us have and the needs that we have to see you more clearly.

It brings moisture to the earth that is badly needed.

It's a very basic element of our ecosystem, absolutely basic, right, fundamental.

And when you go to scripture, we'll just appeal to a couple of texts and see if the scripture helps us with the definition, the scriptural definition of that.

The rain comes down and does not return there, but waters the earth and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater.

You know that text, well, Isaiah 55 or Deuteronomy 11, then I will give you the rain for your land and its season and the rain in the early rain and the latter rain that you may gather in your grain and your new wine.

These are simply representatives of many texts in the Bible that speak about how God uses the terminology of rain.

In rain, according to scripture, particularly the Old Testament, there is such a thing as an early rain and as a latter rain, or former rain and a latter rain.

So rain needs, however, when we speak biblically, we need to understand this in the context of the near ancient, you know, near east, the ancient near east.

Yesterday, sorry, yes, no, this past weekend, I was doing a seminar at the Silicon Valley for secular people at the Double Tree in downtown.

And we had a number of secular people there as well as people from other religions.

What I mean by that is non-Christian religions like Muslims, New Age people and so forth and so on.

So that's a major challenge because you don't have 2 clear fundamental assumptions, right?

1 is scripture is the word of God and Jesus is the son of God.

So the third topic was on violence in the Bible, which is 1 of the favorite topics brought about by the new atheists like Dawkins and Harris and people of that nature, who are becoming militant, you know, atheists in the sense that saying the religion is really bad for society, it's dangerous for society.

And so I explained the reasons why the Canaanites were exterminated.

A reason that most even Bible readers do not understand.

We know that the limit of their sin had been reached, right?

We know that Abraham was told it'll be another 400 years and so forth and so on, but what we don't know is the extent of their wickedness.

And I'll be brief because I see some people that are a little younger, but, and I hope, I hope, you know, as the Italians would say, I hope you can capisce, You know, it's like, you know, get it?

Rain, rain was the equivalent in Baal, Anath in a number of the local deities.

What they did was the equivalent of spreading semen to the earth.

That's the reason why in all of these pagan societies it was necessary according to their quote unquote theology to perform the wickedest sexual aberrations possible in public in order to stimulate the gods, in order to reign from above, in order to produce fruit.

Okay, so and I could tell you a lot of stuff that archaeology has unearthed and history has.

And so, no wonder God calls that abominations.

It included incest, it included bestiality in public.

All of that was for the single purpose to stimulate the gods.

So that's the concept, that's the Canaanite and pagan concept and biblical concept that is the people surrounding Israel, their concept of rain.

That was, and so that's why it's important to see the context because when God speaks about rain, he also speaks about production.

He also speaks about fruitfulness, but obviously in a totally different way, right?

You have the case of Elijah, it's just a typical case.

That's why what was called down was fire, not rain.

And that's why they did dastardly things to themselves in order to get the gods to do that until Elijah says, you know, I'm just gonna have a prayer about this and I'm gonna thank God.

Notice that Elijah understood righteousness by faith thousands of years ago.

Because he simply thanked God for what he was about to do.

He assumed, you have set this up and you're going to follow through with it.

Rain is what the gods provide for the lives of their subjects.

Imagine in a gray area society, if you have no rain, what do you have?

Joel 2 is a well-known text by Most Adventist, Rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the former reign faithfully.

And he will cause the reign to come down for you, the former reign and the latter reign.

Now, in the New King James, it's translated the former reign faithfully.

And when you check with other translations or versions rather, you have different explanations.

The former reign because he is faithful, that's NIV, that's close, alright.

And then the RSV and the NASV, which are a little more literalistic, say the former reign for your vindication.
