It's really good to know that when we cry or when we hurt, Jesus sympathizes with us, amen?

And it's just a wonderful thing to know that Jesus is in the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary as our high priest.

He has gone through the same experiences that we have gone through, and anytime we need help, the Bible says we just need to go to his throne of grace, and it is there that we will find mercy.

So I was really thankful for that, that song.

Today we're going to be talking about witnessing and the time my message is fire in my bones Witnessing is crucial for the Christian experience.

Witnessing is not something that we limit to a to a mission trip or it's not something that we do once a month.

Witnessing should be something that we do on a day-to-day basis.

As Christians, God has called each and every 1 of us to be witnesses for Him.

That's why He says that ye are the light of the world.

He has called each and every 1 of us to share the gospel truth, to share the message of truth with this dying world.

And so I want to talk about witnessing this morning.

I want to talk about why is witnessing important, but I also want to talk about how we can have, as Christians, how we can have that personal, strong desire to witness to our neighbors, to the people that are around us.

So before we get into this morning's message, I'd like us to bow our heads for a word of prayer.

Precious Heavenly Father, I'd like to thank you so much that you have brought us into this church at this time.

I'd like to thank you that you have a message that you want all of us to hear, and I include myself in that, because I know that even when I speak, sometimes you surprise me with different truths and you teach me new things.

And Father, I believe that you have a strong desire this morning to share with us something that's on your heart.

And so it is my prayer that as we all tune in, I pray for your Holy Spirit to be the 1 that is preaching this morning.

I pray that the Holy Spirit would give us a message that would encourage us, that would inspire us to get off from our pews and to do the wonderful work that you have called us to do.

Father, we are all professed disciples of Jesus.

But Father, we know that sometimes it is hard for us to even have the desire to do it.

And so this morning, I pray that as we talk about the significance of witnessing, I also want to pray that, Lord, you'd please help me through your word to be able to share a word of encouragement, something that would inspire, something that would spark something in our hearts to want to go out to the highways and to the byways and to finish this work.

Father we know that the end is very near.

You have said behold I come quickly and Father with that in mind I just pray Lord that we would really do something about that.

That we would act by faith, that we would hasten the second coming of Jesus.

And so it is my sincere prayer that, Father, you would preach the message this morning.

May your Holy Spirit be present in this place, I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

Again, witnessing is not limited to a mission trip or it's not something that we do once a week.

We witness on a day-to-day basis because that's what God calls for us to do.

I'm going to share with you a story at the end of this sermon that was so powerful as I read through it, it inspired me to just really start praying that God would put souls in my direction, that I would be able to witness to people day to day, not just to 1 person, but more than that.

I really pray that my life will be a witness to everyone that is around me.

With everything that I say, with everything that I do, I pray that it would witness for heaven and I pray the same for each and every 1 of us.

But if you have your Bibles this morning, let's go ahead and turn our Bibles to Jeremiah chapter 20.

We're going to be looking at Jeremiah this morning.

And Jeremiah chapter 20 is a very powerful chapter.

It goes into the life of Jeremiah in which there was a time where he was placed into prison.

Actually, let's go ahead and look at Jeremiah chapter 19 just for the sake of context.

Jeremiah was a prophet that was called when he was about 20 years old.

And that's the same age as many of you here.

But God had placed the responsibility of him being a prophet at this time.

And during this time, he was prophesying to those who were in Judah, those who were in Jerusalem.

And it was during this time that God's people were not in good shape, spiritually speaking.

And in Jeremiah chapter 19, looking at verse 3, we find here some words that God gives to Jeremiah to preach or to share with those who are in attendance.

The Bible says, and say, Hear ye the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah, inhabitants of Jerusalem, thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil upon the place, the witch whosoever heareth his ears shall tingle.

Verse 4, Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in unto other gods whom neither they nor their fathers have known nor the kings of Judah have filled this place with the blood of innocence.

Verse 5, they have built also the high places of Baal to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal which I commanded not nor spake it neither came it unto my mind.

Therefore behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter." So these are the words that God wanted Jeremiah to prophesy about.

He wanted to speak these words and these words really are strong, right?

But the reason why God wanted to give Jeremiah these words is because he wanted to give a sharp warning to the inhabitants in that place that, listen, you need to wake up, you need to realize what you are doing is an abomination.

During this time, they were getting involved in idolatry, But it was so intense that they would even be crucifying their own children or sacrificing their own children before these idols.

And God was seeing that and He's like, what is going on?

I have clearly stated in my word that this is wrong, that this is something that you should not be participating in.

And so here, Jeremiah had to preach these powerful words.

He had to give these words of reproof to the people.

Desolate, and the hissing, every 1 that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hissed because of all the plagues.

And it will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters.

They shall eat every 1 flesh of their friend and seize the straightness wherewith their enemies and they that seek their lives shall straighten them.

Verse 10, then shall you break the bottle in the sight of men that go with thee and shall say unto them, thus saith the Lord, even so will I break this people in this city as 1 breaketh a potter's vessel that cannot be made whole again and they shall bury and tuff it till there be no place to bury." So it goes on further.

Here Jeremiah, not only did he have to prophesy these words, but he also had to take what was called a flask, and he had to take this flask and throw it on the ground, and it would shatter, And that would represent the judgment that is going to befall upon the people because of their continuous stubbornness and their sin.

But you see, my friends, this prophecy was a conditional prophecy.

You know, God never wants any judgments to befall upon His people.

But Sometimes he's got to allow judgments to fall if they continue in persistently being stubborn against his will.

In fact, notice what it says in Jeremiah chapter 18.

It actually talks about how God says, if a nation turns around, if they turn from their ways then the judgments will not befall upon them." And so God, in giving this warning message, it was his intention to cause his people to turn around, to turn from their wicked ways, and turn to the living God.

Jeremiah chapter 20, looking at verse 1, notice what the Bible says, Now Paschur the son of Imar, the priest, Who is also chief governor in the house of the lord heard that jeremiah prophesied these things So here we have this man.

His name is paschur He is a son of a priest and he is also known as the chief governor and the chief governor during that time Was close to the high priest in rank was close to the high priest in rank And so here he is This is past year a church leader and he overhears that that that that there's this prophet Jeremiah and he's preaching strong words against the kingdom and he hears these words and look what he happens in verse 2 the Bible says then pastor smote Jeremiah the prophet put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin which was by the house of the Lord.

And it came to pass tomorrow that Paschir brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks.

Jeremiah's prophesying these rebukes, these strong words.

And he hears this, and immediately he has Jeremiah put into stocks.

A stock is, I can't really visualize what it looks like, but I was reading in onto it.

And I basically learned that stocks, if you were placed in stocks, you'd be placed in a position that is very uncomfortable.

You'd be placed in a position, your body would be in an awkward position, and it would be painful, it would be agonizing, it would be torture.

And so here, Pastor, he puts him in the stocks, where they believe he was there for about a night, for a full night.

He was a prophet that was to preach a message of warning to God's children.

But all of a sudden, All of a sudden, we see here that he gets placed into prison.

And as he's placed in prison, Jeremiah has this really interesting experience.
