AudioVerse App Public Beta

Opening up new AudioVerse app for public beta testing
4m read

I am happy to share with you that the next major update of the AudioVerse mobile app is just around the corner, and I’m here to let you know that you can get early access to it while also helping to make it better than ever by becoming a beta tester.

You may remember not long ago, I shared with you that we have been rebuilding our app using the React Native framework and have also made the code open-source (AudioVerse App Goes Open Source). With this new app, we have endeavored to upgrade it to be more robust while also bringing back some much-requested features. (That’s right, the feature to set variable playback speed is back!)

Since it is a ground-up rebuild of our app, we want to make sure it is rock solid before its final release. That’s why we are opening it up for public beta testing. To participate in the public beta of the new AudioVerse app, just follow these instructions for your platform:

iOS Beta Testers

Android Beta Testers

  • Follow this link to access the beta version of the app: Become a Tester.
  • You'll receive an update to the AudioVerse app if you already have it installed on your device.
  • If you don't have the AudioVerse app installed, download it on Google Play.
  • Test the app and submit your feedback to us.

Two Options to Submit Feedback

  • Follow this link to open a new issue on GitHub (you will need to create a GitHub account): AudioVerse GitHub Issues
  • Or email beta@audioverse.org with your feedback.
  • We plan to keep the beta program open for a few weeks, so don't delay in giving us your feedback!

Further Development Help Needed

Software development is not cheap. Every new version of our app and every new feature on our website comes about only through the sacrificial dedication of our in-house developer and other volunteers in the open-source community. Yet, we have heard loud and clear from our users that more rapid and robust development is needed across all of the technologies in our ministry. In order to do that, we need your help.

Technology is a double-edged sword because on one hand, it is a tremendous lever that allows our small ministry to exert a disproportionately large influence. Yet, on the other hand, it is a moving target that requires constant investment or else obsolescence is always lurking just around the corner. As a small, donor-supported ministry it is impossible for us to compete at market rates for quality software developers which makes it an extra challenge for us to sustainably produce high-quality code rapidly. Nevertheless, quality software is a crucial foundation in our organization, without which, the ministry ceases to function.

That is why today I am asking you to consider supporting the technology development of AudioVerse through your financial partnership. As 2018 nears its close, we certainly welcome any year-end contributions; however, since the technology needs of the ministry are a vital and ongoing investment, please consider becoming a regular, recurring donor to ensure that apps are up-to-date, that bugs are squashed quickly, and that new features that allow us to make an even bigger impact for the Gospel can be realized reliably.

As the Lord leads, you may give by check to the address listed below, or you may give online at our donate page. Your help will ensure that technology does not get in the way of souls finding the Everlasting Gospel through the ministry of AudioVerse. Thank you for your support.

Your fellow online missionary,

Alistair Huong
Executive Director

P.S. The new AudioVerse app is just around the corner, but first we are opening it up for public beta testing. That means YOU can get a sneak peek at the brand-new app while contributing to make it better before it is publicly launched. To join the public beta program, just follow the instructions listed above for either the iOS or Android platform.

P.P.S. Your help is needed to ensure that AudioVerse is able to keep up with the ever-growing demands of our technology. Software development is not cheap, yet it is absolutely vital in ensuring that the ministry of AudioVerse continues online. Please consider supporting this crucial aspect of the ministry with your financial contribution--it will ensure that the infrastructure to deliver the Gospel online continues to remain accessible to all who are seeking! Gifts may be made to the address below or at our online donate page. Thank you!
