The Key of Spirituality

Tomorrow, we'll be dealing a little bit with the lifestyle side of things.

Yesterday, we learned why your testimony is such a good tool for evangelism.

And today, we're gonna learn about spirituality.

Many of you have leadership qualities, but sometimes if the spirituality is not present, you can be the worst problem in a church instead of becoming the biggest blessing.

Therefore, we need to learn to team with the Lord so that those talents that He has given us, as we team together with Him, they can become a big blessing.

There's many people that have been asking how to contact.

I have a very active Twitter account that I keep up, E-D-D-I-E, R as in Robert, D as in day, M, D.

And this also, this YouTube page where I have many, many videos, I try to use many of those videos to refer my patients to them.

Sometimes in the doctor's office, you don't have the 45 minutes to explain everything.

Don't worry if you see some in Chinese and Russian.

There's some more that will be coming in your language.

Before proceeding, let us stop for a moment and let's ask that the Lord may be able to communicate with us this morning.

Our Heavenly Father, we're grateful to be here this morning.

We're grateful for this beautiful place and for the desire that you have put us to learn more about you.

I pray, Lord, as I open your word that it may be you who is speaking to us.

Put aside this earthen vessel and may you inspire our hearts.

Regarding spirituality, Regarding spirituality, we need to understand that our belief system is not fantasies.

See I believe that sometimes when you are only giving half your heart, you are missing half the blessing.

See, the bigger your need for the Lord in your heart, the more you can open that heart.

If you believe you just need a little bit of the Lord, that's how much you will receive.

And you know, we know in Ephesians that there is a real battle going on.

When I got to Desert Hot Springs, as I was telling you last night, I read a very interesting book by the name of Deceive by the New Age.

And that really opened my eyes to understand that there is really a battle behind the scenes for your heart.

And that battle, Ephesians 6, 12, tells us about it.

We're not battling against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual host of weakness in the heavenly places.

And see, God has given us a fantastic tool to be able to connect with him.

And that tool is called your imagination.

See, many times the doctrines that you learn in the Bible, let's say the doctrine of the sanctuary, the doctrine of the judgment, I don't see the judgment taking place, but God has put in our minds the ability with our imagination to go and see these things.

But at the same time Satan has taken that imagination and in many instances has poisoned that imagination.

So instead of glorifying God, it goes against his will.

I love this quotation from the book of education on how we need to live what we believe.

It says there, an important element in education work is enthusiasm.

On this point, there is a useful suggestion in a remark once made by a celebrated actor.

The Archbishop of Canterbury had put to him the question, why actors in a play affect their audiences so powerfully by speaking of things imaginary, While ministers of the gospel often affect theirs so little by speaking of real things.

Quote, we do submission to your grace, reply the actor, permit me to say that the reason is plain.

We on stage speak of things imaginary as if they were real and you in the pulpit speak of things real as if they were imaginary.

1 of the big things that happened in my life was when I was studying with Louis Torres.

Whenever you take the class of evangelism from Louis Torres, you will see that the first step that he is gonna take you is to introduce you to understand why your devotional life is so important.

See, I grew up with the idea that the Bible was boring.

And yes, if you read the Bible superficially, it can be boring.

But as you get and start reading those stories of inspiration, this becomes actually quite exciting.

And there is plenty of evidence to believe in the Bible.

Sometimes we don't go into it because we think, well, what if this is not true?

Let me start by showing you why you can believe in the Bible.

Why this is a book that stand test after test.

I don't have time to go very deep into it, but we will just go briefly.

For example, when you check things like archeology, as you get the science of archeology and try to make this and check against the Bible, you will see that things match.

In fact, the Bible is full of prophecies.

As you read in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, to prove if the Bible is real or not, you just have to go back to those prophecies.

We have history to see if things came to be.

In Ezekiel 26, we find, and they shall make a spoil of thy riches, And make a prey of thy merchandise, and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses, and they shall lay thy stones, and thy timber, and thy dust in the midst of the water, and I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease, and the song of thy harps shall be no more heard." Ezekiel 26, 12, and 13.

Now please notice how it is very specific, this prophecy.

It says they're going to be destroyed, but not only they were gonna be destroyed, but the stones and the timber were gonna go where?

You know, as you analyze history, you will see that this is exactly what happened.

In fact, you can even go today there to Tyre and see that with your own eyes.

As the Romans were conquering that part of the world, they needed to continue conquering another part.

There was a little island and they had to make a bridge.

They got the parts of the buildings, threw them into the ocean, and made a bridge in order to get there.

The prophecy fulfilled exactly as it was said.

Nineveh, I noticed something very interesting with Nineveh.

In fact, If you ask somebody secular about Nineveh, you know what they're going to tell you?

You know about Nineveh because you have read the Bible.

But see, the prophecy was very clear about Nineveh.

Saphaniah 2, 13 and 15, And he will stretch out his hand against the north and destroy Assyria and will make Nineveh what?

This is the rejoicing city that dwells carelessly, that said in her heart, I am and there is none beside me how is she become a desolation a place for beasts to lie in everyone that pass it by her shall his and walk his hand see we knew from the Bible record and other historical sources that Nineveh existed.

Yet in the 1700s nobody knew where Nineveh was.

It became a desolation not until they started bearing down, making holes in the ground.

And still you can go on Google Maps is Still Nineveh is a desolation today in Iraq.

The prophecy said this is gonna happen and that's exactly what happened.

And I will turn the fortunes of Egypt to the land of their origin and there will be a lowly kingdom.

It will be the lowest of the kingdoms and it will never again lift itself up above the nations.

And I will make them so small that they will not rule over the nations.

Exactly as the Bible predicted, Egypt, even though they have big population resources, have not been able to progress.

And you will see the challenges that they are facing today.

In fact, when they had the war between the Egyptians and the Israelites were very little tiny country compared to Egypt.

The Israelites were able to dominate the Egyptians.

The Key of Your Testimony

Eddie Ramirez, would you like to come down the front?

I haven't primed you for this, I'm sorry.

But I'm going to ask you a couple of questions, if that's OK.

Ramirez come and share with us from the United States.

I believe you work in Weimar, is that correct?

Can you share us a little bit about what you do currently?

We have an organic farm, an academy, and it has this spirit of evangelism that is contagious.

And I'm involved there with different projects, including taking care of all the research of the Institute and of Dr.

And it's a big blessing to be able to see what happens when you apply these principles.

Just this year, we have submitted for publication 28 articles and we believe that we should be encouraging this in different lifestyle centers so that we can prove what we are doing, how it's actually very effective.

So you're going to be speaking to us on Sunday, I believe, about lifestyle medicine, aren't you?

I have 20 years of experience of working in lifestyle centers, so I'll be sharing a little bit of the insight of what I have been learning for the past 20 years.

Can you tell us a bit about your journey?

What led you from, or where were you born, and how did you get to Weimar?

Well, I was actually going to talk about that.

Okay, we'll pause and you'll cover that then for us.

Now, I'm guessing you're quite passionate about what you do, but is there a particular area that really excites you about your work?

You know, this is actually the reason why I changed careers.

I originally studied computer science and I ended up becoming a physician.

After seeing what happens when you put lifestyle interventions in people, their life changes.

And not only that, you give them something even better as you introduce the spiritual factor and as the life is transformed from the inside out.

And it's interesting how as the research has come out, invitations have come in, Just this year alone I have been in 25 countries.

In fact this is my fourth time in Australia this year and this is something that has become mainline.

In the past lifestyle medicine was on the edge.

You were kind of weird if you were doing these things.

Presidents, CEOs, and different types of leaders are leading the charge into this change of lifestyle medicine.

Yes, I have a family and I do see him often.

And I have a beautiful wife and 3 daughters.

It is just pine trees around where we live.

Well, look, it's lovely to have you with us, Eddie.

Thank you so much for coming again to Australia for the fourth time this year.

But we look forward to being blessed by what you have to say.

Well, I want to start with a quick prayer that the Lord may lead us as we study his word this evening.

Heavenly Father, we're grateful for the way that you have led us, and we're so grateful that you have a plan for each 1 of our lives.

And as I speak this evening, I don't wanna glorify myself, I wanna praise you for the way that you have led and Lord may this serve as an experience so our faith can increase and we can get a better hold of you as we continue walking on this earth.

Well, this is my wife and my 3 daughters.

We say that we have daughters in 3 different flavors, 1 very blonde, 1 semi, and the other 1 more dark.

And I want to thank very much Amen for this invitation.

I appreciate his support here for this organization.

I've been participating in these meetings ever since I was a student.

Studying in a secular university, you know, you see this secular atmosphere and so forth, And for me, every AMEN conference, it was like drinking water so I could sustain myself for another year as I went back to that type of environment.

So I really appreciate this invitation and I always enjoy being at an Amen meeting.

And you know, even the way that my travel to here end up being, you can see how God is all the time making plans.

Sometimes we make plans, but God has even better plans.

I'm pretty good at finding very cheap tickets, and I happened to found a very cheap ticket from Moscow to Australia.

So I said, I'm gonna save some of those Australian dollars to the people here in Australia.

So I went ahead and bought that ticket $400.

Imagine that, round trip, Moscow to Australia.

And I made the mathematics and yeah, flying from America to Moscow was actually not that expensive, so I went ahead and booked my trip to Moscow and then the book here.

But then some changes happened in the airline, and they decided to refund the money.

So here I was stuck in Moscow, Russia, in the middle of the winter, you know, to make it worse.
