How to Give a Bible Study?

We're going to talk about how to give a Bible study.

It's an exciting topic, also an important topic.

And a topic that we also could have used much more time on, easily could have used double amount of time.

So it will be a little bit of a crash course.

We'll kind of touch on some things and I think we'll be able to get some out of it and maybe if not you can also re-listen to the recording and whatever get some more materials how to get more into it.

Anyway has anyone of you read the book, The Saucer by Dave Fiedler?

The source, so it basically is a Greek word which basically means, it's the same word in the Bible, in the New Testament, the same word, it's the same word for healing and salvation.

And basically this book is about, it's 1 quote that says, it's about reversing the worst evil.

And then White writes that, "'The worst evils come upon our church when we separate medical missionary work and gospel work.' You know, Christ, he was sealing and teaching and sharing the Word of God.

He sent us his disciples to heal and preach.

And many times we have done all of it, but too seldom we have combined it in a good way.

And we have been told that there will come a time when the only type of missionary work that will be able to be done is medical missionary work.

The people, the world need a demonstration of Christ's love, of his care, of his principles.

And so health evangelism, which is doing much this week, it's very important, very powerful, but it's also very important that we not stop with that.

You know, it says Christ's method alone will give true success in reaching the people.

He ministered to their needs, and then he bade them follow me.

So we need to, it's important that we don't stop with that, but that we also know how to do the last part, how to open the word of God to them, how to lead them to Christ.

And so whatever we do, whatever we are called to do, I believe this is something that, you know, to give a Bible study to someone, to study the Bible with someone, to invite them to follow Christ is something we could and should do.

And why is it important to study the Bible with people?

You know, it says in 1 Peter 1, 23, it says that we are born again by the living word of God.

And Jesus said, no 1 can enter the kingdom of heaven without being born again.

So the word of God is essential for the new birth and the Christian life.

It has knowledge that can make us wise for salvation.

It says also, we come to faith by the word of God?

And how, but how can we believe if no 1 preach?

Basically, to believe, to hear the word of God, we need someone to preach usually, or someone help us to explain it many times.

Of course, people can also read themselves, but many times they need someone to explain and help them.

The plan of giving Bible studies was a heaven-born idea, we are told.

And our work has been marked out for us by our heavenly father.

We are to take our Bibles and go forth to warn the world.

Yeah, we are told, Ministry of Healing, really interesting.

Every church should be a training school for Christian workers.

Its members should be taught how to give Bible readings.

And in the end, they should not only be teaching, but actually work under experience instruction.

So this is something I think many, everyone, we should, it's important to learn how to give Bible readings, how to give Bible studies, next quote.

And it's really powerful when you read, you know, prophet of God, the prophet of this generation, saw what would happen in the very end the powerful revival that the Bible talks about and how the work will be finished He says, you know how if you go back The sick were healed and other miracles were wrought a spirit of intercession was seen even as was manifest before the great day of Pentecost And then it says listen to this hundreds and thousands were seen visiting families and opening before them.

The word of God, hearts were convicted by the power of God, the Holy Spirit and the spirit of genuine conversion was manifest.

So we know it will play an important role in the end.

I hope that God saw us, or not, she saw us when God showed her these things.

That we were part of this movement, going out, opening the word of God to people.

1 thing that is, before we get into that, is another quote.

I don't have it on the slide there, but it's really powerful.

It says, Ellen White writes in Welfare Ministry, page 97, that how can the great work of the Third Endless Message be accomplished?

And it says it must be largely accomplished by persevering individual effort by visiting the people in their homes.

So personal effort, personal members, not only a powerful preacher or evangelist or pastor, but personal effort, many people that are involved in this work, that's how the work will be finished.

Many people can be much more than 1 very successful person.

Before we get into how to give a Bible study, we'll look at some advice and tips.

Basically, I've been Bible working for several years and I have many, I have still things to learn, but I have learned many things.

I have had the opportunity to study the Bible with around 100 people, actually, a lot of people, different people, all type of people in different places.

And so I want to share some things I've learned, some things of how to get and give a Bible study that I think have been helpful to me and I believe could also be helpful to you.

But before we get into how to give a Bible study I just want to say a little bit about how to get and keep a study going because if you don't get and keep a study going it doesn't really matter if you know how to give a study.

So that's kind of a good beginning And some of the things are quite simple, but still it can make a big difference, I think, of getting studies and giving studies.

The first 1 is very simple, but very important, and that is simply to ask how to get a Bible study.

It sounds maybe like something you don't need to mention, but I believe many times there are people that we could have started a Bible with, maybe friends, maybe family, maybe neighbors, whatever, but it doesn't happen because we never ask.

Much could be said about it, but 1 funny experience that I think well illustrates it 1 time I was going door-to-door just very straight I was just telling them that I was looking for people over was interested to learn more about the Bible and then 1 door I came to like outside the door on the doorbell.

It said is you had this you think to knock with you It said on this Sign it said welcome to hell and then this young lady comes out.

She had if I don't remember Incorrectly, she had dark hair dark clothes at least she had that I know she had tattoos And she looked like a person that I wouldn't even need to ask her the question.

I could be tempted to say, sorry, wrong door, bye.

But I decided to still ask her about what I asked other people and if she was interested to learn more about the Bible or study the Bible.

I could give you other examples of people I've been surprised with in my class or whatever.

People you think would be the least interested, maybe they are more interested than you think.

You know, the Bible says that God has placed eternity in people's hearts.

They have a longing for God, for spiritual things in their heart.

Sometimes in their life they are maybe more open for it.

Sometimes there is also a timing when it's best to ask.

But to ask and not close the opportunity for this person being interested or not, or that this person is not interested.

So that's, it's simple, but it's an important thing to ask.

Many times we would get status if we just asked.

Could be maybe something, sometimes you just need to negotiate with people a little bit, kind of convince them.

It could be, you know, I learned a series of Bible studies while I've been learning this, and I need someone to practice on, you know, could you help me?

And for some people, if you ask in that way, they would say yes, they have kind of an excuse to study with you, they don't need to tell you or their friends that they are interested in studying the Bible.

And they would say yes if you ask like that, but they would say no if you just ask them in another way.

Or it could be maybe if you, whatever, like you help them with this, if they sit down and sign the Bible with you afterwards, something like this.

Another way could be with some people, like, for instance, you have us witnesses or Mormons.

You can say, hey, can we sit down together?
