Lift up the trumpet and loud let it ring, Jesus is coming again.

Cheer up you pilgrims, be joyful and sing, Jesus is coming again.

This is the voice of prophecy, a voice crying in the wilderness of these modern days, Prepare ye the way of the Lord.

Coming again, coming again, Jesus is coming again.

I'm going to ride the chariot in the morning.

I'm getting ready for the judgment day, my Lord, my Lord.

Give us, we pray today, a vision of Jesus.

May we see his holiness, his love, his salvation for us by faith.

There is a place of quiet rest near to the heart of God, a place where sin cannot molest near to the heart of God.

Oh, Jesus, blessed Redeemer, Sent from the heart of God, hold us who bow before Thee, near to the heart of God.

When my pilgrimage I close, Victor or the last of foes, When I soar to worlds unknown, see thee on thy judgment throne.

There's a holy and beautiful city, whose builder and ruler is God.

John saw it descending from heaven When Pat was in exile he trod.

And when my frail tent here is folded, Mine eyes shall its glory behold.

In that bright city, pearly white city, Pearly white city, I have a mansion, a harp, and a crown.

Now I am watching, waiting, and longing For the white city John saw coming down.

The saints will be sanctified wholly and live in sweet harmony there.

My heart is now set on that city, And someday its blessings I'll share.

Here now is HMS Richards, the voice of prophecy speaker.

Let us read the beautiful story here as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, chapters 16 and 17, with brief comments from parallel passages in Mark and Luke.

For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, And then shall he reward every man according to his works.

Verily I say unto you, there be some standing here which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.

And after 6 days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, and was transfigured before them.

And his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

And behold, there appeared unto them Moses, and Elias, or Elijah, talking with him.

Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here.

If thou wilt, let us make here 3 tabernacles, 1 for thee, and 1 for Moses, and 1 for Elias.

While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them.

And behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man save Jesus only.

The story as recorded in the ninth chapter of Luke's gospel adds the fact that Jesus took the 3 disciples up into the high mountain to pray, and that as he prayed the fashion of his countenance was altered and the transfiguration there took place.

Luke also says that Moses and Elijah, who appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration with Jesus, spake of his decease, which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

It is important to note that only the 3 who are to witness Christ's anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane, just before His crucifixion, have been chosen to be with Him here on the Mount of Transfiguration.

Here they witness the manifestation of his divinity, which must sustain them in the hour of his humiliation as the Son of Man.

As Jesus prays there on the lonely mountain with his 3 disciples, suddenly a holy radiance seems to descend upon him.

Divinity from within flashes through humanity and meets the glory coming from above.

Arising from his prostrate position, Jesus stands in godlike majesty.

As they become able to endure the wondrous light they see he is not alone.

Beside him are 2 heavenly beings holding close conversation with him concerning his coming death.

Moses, who upon Mount Sinai talked with God.

Elijah, who was taken into God's presence without passing under the power of death.

Moses stood for God at Mount Sinai against a rebellious people.

Elijah stood for God at Mount Carmel against the wicked priests of Baal.

Moses had died and was raised from the dead and taken to heaven.

Here on the Mount of Transfiguration he stands as a witness of Christ's victory over sin and death.

He represented those who will come forth from the grave at the resurrection of the just, at the second coming of Christ.

And Elijah, who had been translated to heaven without dying, represented those who will be living upon the earth at Christ's coming and who will be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trump.
