The Godhead- Part 3

Most gracious Heavenly Father, as we bow before you again, God I just know, I know I've sensed your Spirit here.

I pray that He walks in amongst and through us, that He speaks to our heart in a mighty way today, that we will no longer see Pastor Kenny Shelton, but we will hear the words from on high as we sat at the feet at the footstool of Jesus today.

Father, I pray that you'll take this vessel and make it a vessel of honor.

May the words that he speaks, may the thoughts that he has be thoughts and words that only come from us, from on high, to us from on high.

God, we give you all the praise, all the honor, all the glory, for you are the God of all principalities, of all powers, there is no other.

Thank you for your mercy, your loving kindness toward us, that we are even here today.

Every breath we take is a gift from heaven.

I was asked to do this study because sometimes it's just not a real popular study.

It's a little easier maybe to preach a different message.

This is more of a teaching, but you know, I was asked if I would teach about the Godhead.

And especially even to me, the third part.

I love talking about the Holy Spirit, How wonderful the Holy Spirit is.

There's things being taught in and around and among us that is not the truth of God's Word.

And I think most of you brought that out those who've been speaking we have 2 sources do we not 2 sources of finding out what truth is can someone help me Bible and what else spirit of prophecy and if you've missed the other first 2 I'm but basically said this and I'll say real plain here If you want to find out what truth is, you know, be careful about saying the pioneers said.

I know that'll shock some of you, but be careful.

They came in from many different denominations and they had a lot of different beliefs.

And so you can just about prove, and some people do it, they give you material, before the Holy Spirit got ahold of them, before the writings of Ellen White really became prominent, they looked and they said, well, this 1 was, and we'll even discuss a little bit and even a few of the names, they believed this.

And 1 of them, they did not believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit.

It's the Spirit of Christ or it's the Spirit of God.

So there is, and I just say this as we're thinking today, we need to be careful about the rejection of what?

Could it be a rejection when we say it really doesn't exist?

Could it be a rejection of the Holy Spirit, which is our only hope and our only help for today?

I think we'll see in a lot of quotes that we have, so I hope that your little tummies won't get too hungry, but you know, we can't really press it, but I promise not to keep you too long.

But you know, after about 2 or 3 hours, I get warmed up.

Jesus said what he said taste and see isn't that right?

So we're gonna say today taste and see if he's not good if it's not By the grace of God by the power of the Holy Spirit that truth should be we should be able to recognize truth We shouldn't have to venture out and come to a certain point and say, oh, well, if the Bible hasn't revealed, if spirit of prophecy hasn't revealed beyond a certain point, don't go there.

Don't go there because we are projecting.

And when you project, you get yourself in a bigger mess.

I noticed here, I want to read just a quote, just as I begin here, and just kind of see, to me, the importance, the importance of the issue of understanding.

I want to say the third person of the Godhead.

I said in previous talks that we had here, I do, now this is just me, You do what you want to do as the Holy Spirit impresses you.

I don't like the term, I don't like Trinity.

See, I just gave you the right, if you want to use it, you use it.

If you want to, you need to understand what the term means.

Because the Bible, what, 3 different times gives what?

I believe it's gonna be fitting for us today.

And let me find it here right quick where I put it.

It says, In this our day, in this our day, notice men have placed themselves where they are wholly unable to fulfill the conditions of repentance and confession.

Therefore they cannot find mercy and pardon.

The sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit does not lie in any notice this sudden word or deed it is the firm determined resistance of truth and evidence We've been talking about this week the weight of what?

Somebody say evidence, I'll just be so happy.

You don't throw out 20, 30, 40 clear cut quotes or Bible passages because somebody comes up with 1 that doesn't hardly even pertain to the subject.

But many people do because they're looking for something startling.

They're looking for something new rather than that old, old story right on my heart, every word.

It's important, especially as Seventh-day Adventists, to know what truth is.

If you've ever heard anything when you come in, what's the first thing you heard?

You was talking about here, people say, I want to know what truth is.

I love to come in contact with people who say, I want to know what truth is and really mean it.

If they don't want to hear it, they're not going to listen.

People say, well, you know, in Adventism, I go back quite a ways in Adventism.

You're not gonna fool me that easy, not with what's been going on.
