Why is the First Commandment First?

Our Father in heaven, we bow in your presence, dear God.

We come to you because we have nowhere else to go.

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Father, the rest we need is to rest from sin.

We ask you in the name of your Son, who shed his blood, forgive our sins, dear God.

Cleanse our hearts from evil impulses and sinful desires and give us a mind like Jesus or the very mind that Jesus had.

My work dear God is heavy and it's hard because it is spiritual and I'm a sinner.

And so I ask you, dear Father, come very close to me in the presence of your Spirit and help me.

Bless those who are listening with understanding.

Surround this place with angels that excel in strength that we may worship in safety.

Father, my desire is to give you all the glory by presenting truth.

Take the glory day God, but give us the blessing I pray.

Bless all my young brothers and sisters, bless all our visitors father.

Our subject for today, why is the first commandment first?

Let's go to Exodus 20, reading from verse 1.

And I read from the King James Version of the Bible.

And God speak all these words saying, I am the Lord thy God, which hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt and out of the house of bondage.

Verse 3, thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Now the Bible says all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

God could have put the fourth commandment first.

He could have begun by saying thou shalt not covet.

My young friends and everyone else under the sound of my voice if the first commandment is obeyed the problems we have would not occur whether we're young or old let me say it again If we would observe the first commandment and put nothing and no 1 ahead of God, the problems we face would vanish.

As I travel around the world and I meet with people, they say pray with me and I say why, and then they proceed to tell me the problems.

I sometimes ask myself, how did he get into this problem?

How did she find herself in this difficulty?

Thou shalt have, say it with me, nor the gods before me.

Think with me as I take you back to Genesis 1.

Our subject, why is the first commandment first?

Let's go to Genesis 1, we'll read verse 26.

And God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness in other words what God is saying I will make a race a new species of beings and Everything they do in Every area of their lives in all that they undertake they will reflect me What I just said was not symbolic, I am being very literal.

When God said, let us make man in our image, God intended that everything mankind did would reflect God.

God intended that everything humanity did, they would put God first.

I said earlier that I sometimes wonder how do people get into the problems they have.

There's another question I sometimes ask, how was Jesus able to live such a powerful life.

I realize this is a youth conference, but I am speaking to everyone of every age.

And young people, if you understand this message and you apply it to your lives, your lives will change.

John 8, verse 29, listen to Jesus Christ.

If you have the King James Version, finish that verse with me, for I do what?

Always go on those things finish the verse that please Him.

Oh good, but I asked you to read, you didn't read.

Perhaps everyone has a different version and if that's the case we cannot read together.

How many of you have the King James Version?

All right, so when I say read, that's exactly what I mean, read with me.

And he that hath sent me is with me, keep reading, The Father hath not left me alone.

Now, there is a word in that verse that's literal.

There's a saying, there's an exception to every rule.

There is no exception to the rule that says, we must do everything that pleases God always.

In every circumstance, At all times, in all places, under all conditions, the child of God must put God first.
