The Faith of Jesus

Hey, good evening and happy Sabbath, everybody.

So for those of you who don't know, my name is D.

So there are fewer familiar faces than I'm used to.

And I kind of like this, it's like a new school, but I helped build the ceiling here.

So I know it's not a new school, because I did that.

Anyway, if you notice any shoddy work done on the ceiling tiles here with the wood panels.

I work with a media ministry called Unseen Media Group, U-N-S-C-E-N-E, and our burden is to create content to reach people that look just like you, young people, 15 to 30 year olds, that general age range.

And to make stuff that's Christ-centered, that's relevant, that's our burden.

Now, all that being said, I'm really wrestling with what to do this weekend because there are 2 huge events of real significance to us as Seventh-day Adventists that within the span of last Monday and this coming Tuesday.

Does anybody know what those 2 events are?

They're not good for anything, but I'll give them to you.

The Great Disappointment, does anyone know what date that was?

And there's another event of tremendous significance to us as Seventh-day Adventists.

It's, there's another holiday that's connected to, you know, Satan and stuff that happened on the same day.

Yeah, so on October 31st, somebody did something.

Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses to the door of Wittenberg.

So, we have like all of this stuff that is really relevant this weekend and I could cover a lot of things.

Tonight I'm gonna cover a component of something in the third angel's message that I don't think is covered enough.

Specifically it's called the faith of Jesus, right?

In Revelation 14, 12, it says, "'Here they that keep the commandments of God "'and the faith of Jesus.'" It is not faith in Jesus, it's the faith of Jesus.

So we'll define that this evening, kind of a practical gospel sermon.

Tomorrow for divine service, I'm going to cover the significant view that we have of the atonement as Seventh-day Adventists, okay, called a lamb and a priest and we'll deal with what the investigative judgment means to us and why we need a priest in heaven right now and what's going on up there.

Then tomorrow evening I'm going to deal with the topic of the Reformation.

Specifically I think we'll call it, I don't know I'm making up on the fly, Why Protestantism Matters.

Okay, because there's a lot of stuff happening right now on the news and current events that should be really eye-opening to a lot of us, okay?

Like Tony Palmer times 2, that type of thing.

But without any further delay, this evening's message will be entitled The Faith of Jesus.

Our website is not on the screen behind me because the screen isn't turned on, but I'm sure it will be.

We also have a training program, I meant to cover that, called IDEA, the Institute for Digital Evangelism Arts, and it's basically film school and a school of evangelism put together.

And you get to do hands-on work for GYC, the evidence review, and other people too.

All right, let's begin with a word of prayer, and I'll start this evening's message, again, entitled The Faith of Jesus.

Father, I thank you for this privilege to have access to your word in our own language, for the beauty of the gospel, and I just pray that you would speak to us this evening, that you would encourage us, and that we would learn something by looking at this person's life example of what the faith of Jesus is meant to look like.

Well, I'll just start, and if they join me, cool.

If not, then I'll just look at my slides.

Turn with me to 1 Corinthians chapter 13.

Now this chapter is famous for something.

Josh needs it, I need it, We all need it.

Alright, first Corinthians chapter 13 and I'm going to begin in verse 1 where the chapter begins.

First Corinthians chapter 13 and verse 1.

Paul says, though I speak with the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

And though I had the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, though I have all faith so that I could even remove mountains, which is awesome, but have not love I am how much?

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though my I give my body to be burned, but have not love it profits me nothing.

Love does not parade itself, is not puffed up, does not behave rudely, does not seek its own as other-centered, is not provoked, thinks no evil, and does not rejoice in iniquity but rejoices in the truth.

It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

Love never fails." Now, This is super significant for a few reasons.

1, in 1 John 4, in verse 8, it says that God is love.

So when love is defied in 1 Corinthians 13, it's actually giving you insight into the type of being and person that God is.

The Bible does not say in 1st John 4 that God is love being.
