With Such a Heredity

And today happens to be the day after the 25th.

And so what we're going to do is we're going to look at some things that are related.

Many people are thinking about the birth of Christ and here at Advent Hope that is what we are going to do as well.

So let us see if my test and the test is working.

Dear Father, we thank you for the Sabbath that you've given us.

And we pray that this morning that you would make our hearts sensitive to truth, that you would arrest our attention, that you would direct our attention towards the scripture, towards our Savior.

We pray, Lord, that as we look at your son's birth, as we look at incarnation, that we would glean truths that would help us to be more like him, that we would better understand the workings of righteousness by faith and be better prepared to meet you when you come again in the air.

We thank you for the promise of the forgiveness of sins.

And we ask, Lord, that we would have an abiding presence with you that your spirit would move this morning.

We thank you for each member that has come here this morning.

We ask, Lord, for the forgiveness of sins, and we pray this all in Jesus' name.

If you turn your Bibles to the book of Revelation, we're going to be looking at the 12th chapter.

And as you're turning, let's look at a quotation from the Spirit of Prophecy that I thought was very significant.

You're in Revelation chapter 12 and then you look up at the screen and you notice it says this, to redeem man Christ became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

It says in bold, The humanity of the Son of God is what?

It's not just some detail that we want to look over as a Sabbath school topic, but it says the humanity of the Son of God is everything to us.

It is the golden link chain which binds our souls to Christ, and through Christ to God.

Christ was a real man, and He gave proof of His humility in becoming a man, and He was God in the flesh.

You're in Revelation chapter 12, looking at verse 1.

It says, And there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of 12 stars.

And she, being with child, cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

And so, for your Bible students here, this woman represents a church.

This woman represents a church and the picture is she is in a state of giving birth to this child.

You look for more detail about this child in verse 5, and the Bible says, And she brought forth a man-child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron.

And her child was caught up unto God and to His throne.

It's like it's giving birth to this child, Jesus.

Now I want you to notice that right next to, juxtaposed right next to this text here in verse 3.

So we talked about this child who is Christ.

In verse 3 it says, And there appeared another wonder in heaven, and behold, a great red dragon, having 7 heads and 10 horns, and 7 crowns upon his head.

Verse 4, and his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and it cast them to the earth, and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Now when you look at this dragon here, According to Revelation chapter 12, this is talking about Satan, right?

You read in the Great Controversy, Satan works through pagan Rome, but in this case, let's talk about how it represents Satan here.

And it says that his tail drew what part of the stars of heaven?

So, when you look at Isaiah 9 and you notice that the tail represents lies.

And he took the third of the stars with his lies with him.

And in Revelation chapter 1, these stars are told to be representing angels, yeah?

So what ended up happening is, we know the story in heaven.

You know, Lucifer got jealous and he kind of told lies to get one-third of the angels on his side.

And when we think about it just by looking at the text, in order to get one-third of the angels on his side, he had to be telling lies about who they were serving in the first place, which was God.

In order for him to get one-third of the angels to his side, he had to be telling lies about God, about God's government, about God's law.

And so here in Revelation 12, we have a picture of the great controversy.

And to be more specific, it is the great controversy between Christ, that man-child that we read, and Satan.

It is not the great controversy between you and Satan, it is the great controversy between Christ and Satan.

Okay, This is a really very important quotation.

After Satan had tempted Adam and Eve and Adam and Eve had fallen, not only did Satan have this charge that God's law is unfair, God is unjust, he now made another charge.

Notice what the quote says here, the sign of the times.

It says, Satan declared that it was impossible for the sons and daughters of Adam.

Impossible for the sons and daughters of Adam to keep the law of God.

And thus charged upon God a lack of wisdom and love, if they could not keep the law, then there was fault with the lawgiver.

Men who are under the control of Satan repeat these accusations against God in asserting that men cannot keep the law of God.

Jesus humbled himself clothing his divinity with humanity in order that he might stand as a head and representative of the human family, and by both precept and example, condemn sin in the flesh and give the lie to Satan's charges." So Satan made another claim.

The first claim he made was like, look, you know, God, your government is unjust, it is not just, your law is unfair.

And then when Adam and Eve had fallen, he made this claim, he said, it's impossible for the sons and daughters of Adam to obey the law.

It's impossible for the sons and daughters of Adam to obey the law.

And so in order to meet that charge, Christ had to come down and give the lie to Satan's charges.

We see the charge, fallen man cannot keep God's law.

So we're talking about the birth of Christ here.

Let's say Christ took this type of unfallen nature, right?

According to the quote, it would not, correct?

Satan's charge would be sustained if Christ had taken an unfallen nature.

Even if he lived perfectly with his unfallen nature, Satan's charge would be sustained.

But if he had taken a fallen nature, A nature of the sons and daughters of Adam, which the quotation had mentioned, what would happen?

Alright, so let's look at, let's take a tour of the desire of ages, this book.

It says here, many of you know this quotation, It would have been an almost infinite humiliation for the Son of God to take man's nature, even when Adam stood in his innocence in Eden.

But Jesus accepted humanity when the race had been weakened by 4, 000 years of sin.
