ASI Spring Chapter Conference - Thursday Evening

We are empowered by lay-driven leadership, connecting lay ministries and business people to share Christ in the marketplace, in support of the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

I'm Steve Dickman, President for Adventist Layman Services and Industries, better known as ASI.

Welcome to our virtual spring conference for 2020.

You're viewing us on Facebook Live, on wherever it may be, from 3ABN.

We are very happy that you are here with us and that you can be a part of the program tonight.

A lot of people ask the question, what is ASI anyway?

Well, let me say, ASI was started as a result of some of the work done at Madison College.

Madison College was kind of mothered by Ellen White.

She knew that we needed a school to train young people to be spreading the gospel to the entire world.

As a result of that, ASI was born in 1947, is a department of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventist, and we strive to engage lay business people, lay ministries, and lay professionals in spreading the gospel to the world.

So thank you for coming to join us tonight.

It's our virtual spring conference and we're here together.

Lindy, would you pray for us tonight as we begin our program?

Father in heaven, we are so grateful for this opportunity.

Even though it's virtual, we know that your Holy Spirit is going to bless abundantly each speaker, each member in action, each testimony.

I pray, Lord, in this special time of anxiety and worry and fear, that the answers provided in your word by the speakers will touch hearts all over this world, I pray.

Joy, Joy is, by the way, Joy is 1 of our presidents for 1 of our chapters.

I'm president of the Lake Union chapter and I'm thrilled to be here representing 6 of our chapters.

You can see in the scene behind us, we have 6 chapters all representing and coming together.

So Joy, share with us a little bit about the schedule for this weekend.

So the schedule is going to be packed with speakers that will inspire and challenge you as listeners.

So We'll be here for 2 hours this evening.

Then tomorrow morning, we will start with 3 action-packed two-hour sessions beginning at 8 a.m., 1 p.m., and 7 p.m.

Tomorrow We'll start the Sabbath with pastor Mark Finley then on Sabbath morning We will be led in worship by Elder Ted Wilson at 9 a.m.

To 1230 and then close out the Sabbath with Pastor John Bradshaw, 4 to 6 p.m.

Andy, I mean, Lindy, you have a twin sister.

Okay, now Andy is our Vice President, General Vice President for ASI.

And you've been associated with ASI for a while.

But Tell us tonight, we've got a theme for this weekend.

So this weekend, we are talking about the 3 angels' messages in times like these.

There are 2 parts, as you notice, to this.

Who would have thought that we would experience something like that?

There are times of anxiety, times of questions.

We are very grateful that the Word of God has provided us with a message just for this time, the 3 Angels' Messages, the gospel presented in a time of the end.

And we have wonderful speakers this weekend.

And tonight we have Pastor Doug Batchelor as well as Dr.

Neil Nedley who will begin bringing to us the truth and encouragement of the 3 Angels' Messages.

I appreciate that you're sharing with us there about the theme.

We're going to invite you, our listening family, to reach out to others who may need to watch this program.

Even so, Lord, come quickly, that is my fervent prayer.

Can Christ descend with glorious fire with All the saints amassed We'll rise with those who sleep no more To meet Him in the air When shall the Son of Man appear?

1 of the favorite parts of ASI for many people is the section we call Members in Action.

Tonight we will feature 4 different ministries and find out what's happening in the field with members, ASI members in action sharing Jesus, sharing Christ in their marketplace.

Joy, you've attended ASI for a number of years.

How have those member in action stories impacted your personal life?

Well, they are fantastic because when you go to ASI, it's like an army of engaged people that are all being called by God and challenged in their marketplace, whether it's a ministry or a business.

And when you hear those stories, it just, it's exciting.

You feel like you're part of something bigger than you and you know the Holy Spirit is at work.

Our first member in action story tonight comes to us from the country of Canada.
