The Heart of God

Father, thank you for the privilege to study your word together.

And just bless us now as we enter into your presence.

You have a thought, a blessing, you have an intention for us being here today.

And I pray that each person would receive whatever that intention is, whatever that blessing is.

I ask that your spirit would be our guest of honor walking up and down our aisles today and just touching our minds and hearts.

Help us to neglect that cell phone for just this short brief period of time.

Help us to allow our minds to enter into the throne of heaven, to the sanctuary above, and just sit at the feet of Jesus.

Bless us to the sin, Lord, because quite honestly, we desperately need it.

You know, perspective and paradigm is everything.

I was going on a road trip 1 time to meet a team in Carson City.

And I had this rental car, which was, and I like saving money, so it's kind of a cheap rental car, not really the best rental car.

But it was like this really small, lightweight rental car.

And I'm driving to this team in Carson City.

It's kind of, you know, I used to do these like crazy overnight drives because I felt like I like driving better at night.

It's like cooler air, you know, less people on the road.

If I stop at a gas station, I'm not waiting in line behind 10 cars to get my gas.

I don't know, overnight seemed like it worked.

So anyways, I'm driving to this area and my GPS tells me this other route.

And you know, whenever my GPS tells me another route, I tend to believe the GPS more than myself.

Those that never trust the GPS, like I know better.

And then those that like trust the GPS to a fault.

Like it's taking you in circles and you're just going with it.

There is December-ish, and it was kind of stormy.

It was raining, and all of a sudden, rain turned to snow.

Like, when it hails, as a kid, I was like, oh, it snowed.

This is great, you know, throwing ice at each other.

Like, oh, look, we're snowball fighting, right?

Like, the windshield, when you, like, look, it just looks like streams of white lines.

In my mind, the whole time, I'm totally safe.

There's nothing wrong with this experience.

There's nothing wrong with where I'm driving.

So I'm going up this back road of a mountain, and my car's kind of slipping now.

I had a really small, cheap car, but I don't know, whatever, I'm good.

So I'm cruising, my car's really sliding, and it got steep, like this really incline.

And I'm going up and all of a sudden, I see red and blue lights flashing behind me.

I'm going like 20 miles an hour, I can hardly move.

And I see him coming behind me, I was like, well, it's dangerous to stop here.

So I need to get up and over this and then I can stop over there.

So I keep going and he's coming behind me.

But all of a sudden I realized I'm getting distance from him, I'm like, what's happening?

And all of a sudden his car just kind of like disappeared.

So I get up there and I pull over and I'm waiting and he never showed up.

So I keep driving in my mind, totally safe.

And there were like signs on the side of the road that were flashing, but I was like really tired and just into my music and just cruising, Just thinking, this is great, I'm going to get there at a good time, I'm making progress, everything is fine.

And then I get to this point where I come around the corner and it looks like a cliff and it just looked like a valley, like it just was like an infinite drop.

And I was like, ooh, that's scary looking.

And I look over and the mountain to the left is like an infinite climb.

And I see a sign that says avalanche warning, do not enter.

And then I realized the cop wasn't trying to pull me over.

Like he was literally trying to stop me and say, haven't you seen all these signs saying do not enter this road right now?

And I didn't, I didn't see any of the signs, and I cruised.

Now I'm on this super narrow road, if I try to turn around, I have to back all the way up to the edge.

You know those really narrow roads where you kinda have to back up to the edge to get that turn?

So I'm like, I don't trust myself turning around, so there's only 1 thing to do.

5 miles an hour for the next 3 hours cruising on this little back road, did not make good time.

Committed to the road, committed to the drive.

Clearly I'm here, I lived, I survived, amen.
