ASI Virtual 2020: Three Angels' Messages - In Times Like These

ASI Spring Chapter Conference - Friday Evening

We are empowered by lay-driven leadership, connecting lay ministries and business people to share Christ in the marketplace, in support of the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

As we begin the Sabbath hours together, it is my privilege to welcome you to the ASI Spring Convention, streaming live on 3ABN and on the ASI website.

It's my privilege to greet each of you, And I've been asked to share briefly, personally, what ASI means to me.

For me, it has become a global, loving, functional family.

In fact, while I was in college, I had the privilege of hearing the voice of God, who directed me to Isaiah 58.

Since then, I've had a passionate concern for the poor and for helping them understand ways to improve their health and well-being.

At times, this calling has felt quite lonely.

In 2015, I became a baptized member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

And it wasn't until I attended my first ASI convention in 2017 that I realized there were hundreds of other people with similar callings on their lives that had started ministries, others that were in businesses and had a passionate calling through the marketplace of how to share Christ.

Together, this functional family is working to fulfill the calling in each and every person's life that is involved.

In 2018, I had the privilege of going to Nairobi, Kenya, where I met our very own ASI Secretary and Treasurer, Philip Baptiste, at the ASI convention.

It was a beautiful reminder that we are also a global family of faith and that all of us have gifts to bring.

Personally, ASI has helped me to fulfill the Lord's calling on my life.

Through mentorship and friendship and also the financial gifts, ASI has helped the ministry that I lead, Farm Stew, to be able to grow into 4 countries already.

Also personally, it has helped me to develop as a leader and to develop spiritually.

I invite each and every 1 of you to be part of the ASI family.

If you've already been with us for years, we welcome you home and we invite you to spend the evening with us.

All who would receive Christ by faith were united to him by a tie closer than that of human kinship.

They would become 1 with him as he was 1 with the Father.

Joy, thank you for asking And what a blessing it is to be here with what I call my ASI family.

You know, I've been involved with ASI for many years.

And God has blessed by challenging me so many times to get out of my comfort zone, to do things I would not normally do, to engage in activities and go on missions and work for Him in ways that if I were by myself, I might be afraid to do.

Listening friend, maybe you're tonight going to hear about ASI for the first time.

If that's true, I hope that you too will receive a challenge and that you'll think about what God may be calling you to do.

As you watch tonight, pray and ask God to show you what he's asking you to do.

Tonight we're going to be blessed by our Secretary-Treasurer, Philip Baptiste.

He is isolated, you might say, at this point because of this pandemic we're in.

But Philip is going to just say a few words of welcome and pray for us tonight.

It's such a pleasure and a privilege to be with you.

I'm so glad that I could come and just join you in this virtual experience.

I'm actually home in Maryland, we're on lockdown, But Steve, I've been enjoying every bit of this awesome virtual event, from the speakers to the music and especially the members in action.

I've been so inspired by the stories of lives being transformed for Christ and business people and ministry people using their gifts and talents to engage in our mission of sharing Christ in the marketplace.

And I can't wait to hear Mark Finley tonight.

And our World Church President, Ted Wilson, tomorrow morning.

So thank you for this opportunity and I'll be happy to pray for us as we begin this evening's program Let us pray Father God.

We're so thankful for your love and your blessings.

We wanna pray that your Holy Spirit will descend upon us in copious showers.

And as we hear your word, may our lives be transformed and may we be energized to say, what can I do to make an even bigger difference for you to help hasten the soon coming of Jesus?

♪♪ There are days when I feel the best of me is ready to begin.

And there are days when I feel I'm letting go and soaring on the wind.

But I've learned in laughter or in pain how to survive.

I get on my knees I get on my knees There I am before the love that changes me.

See I don't know how but there's power when I'm on my knees.

I can be in a crowd Or by myself, or almost anywhere When I feel that there's a need To talk with God He is Immanuel I close my eyes No darkness there There's only light I get on my knees I get on my knees Therein before the love me Therein before the love that changes me I don't know how but there's, there's power.

Wonderwork in power, in the blood, oh thank you Lord of the Lamb.

Oh, there is power, yes, power, yes, wonder work in power In the precious blood of the lamb I don't know how there's power when I'm on my knees.

We want to welcome you again to this incredible program.

God has blessed, and I hope you've been able to participate via whatever platform, the blessings that we've also received.

This is a virtual conference, And although it's virtual, it's easily recognizable.

1 of the most important things I believe that ASI is famous for is their Members in Action session.

And tonight, for the first 1, We're going to look at a ministry that Nylan Edwards and his wife are engaged in in Kentucky.

And well, you know, they can tell you all about it.

There are 3 books that has inspired Red River.

The First 1 I want to share with you is Madison God's Beautiful Farm.

This book shares the miraculous story of how God raised up that God-inspired model school there in the Nashville area by Sutherland and McGann.

And then I want to share this book by Robert Pearson called Miracles Happen Every Day.

And it shares stories after stories of how God raised up varying institutions all around the world.

You have Wildwood, Uchee Pines, Eden Valley, Weimar, Living Springs.

But today we want to share a modern day miracle of how God raised up Red River Wellness and Training Center.

And we pray that our story inspires you as other stories has inspired us.

Well, Red River is a missionary training school located in Stanton, Kentucky.

You know, a few years ago, my wife and I, we were praying in 2009 and asking God to open up a way for us to do ministry.

And he took away our jobs and we went faith-based into a self-supporting endeavor.

And then he began to show us about medical missionary work, he began to show us about canvassing, he began to show us about agriculture and how these are to be combined under 1 umbrella and utilize this as a means of taking the gospel to the world, sanitarian work.

And then my wife and I began to realize that this is the very work for the hour.

Now because we had left our well-supported careers and put all into the work, we realized that we did not have the resources to develop such an institution.

So for us, it began on our knees through much prayer and earnestness, just asking God, please, Lord, we want you to prepare a way for us to be able to carry out such a ministry.

And then we ran across this book now, Medical Ministry, and in page 308 of this book, you know, it shares some inspiring promises.

And on our knees, we began to point to this book and say, Lord, we want to claim these promises.

And it talks about how we should have a location outside of the city, with a water source, with land for agriculture, with a sanitarium, just outside of large cities, with a mission of influence in the cities.

And as we began to pray, we realized 1 particular paragraph stood out to us.

It says, either as a gift from the owners or at low cost.

And we began to pray that because we lacked resources, because we've given all into the work.

We said, Lord, we need to claim this promises.

We need this to be a gift from the owners.

So what happened is we put in a proposal And the proposal was accepted by the person that we're looking to rent this facility from.

And then he literally came back and said, this is exactly why we built this property.

And we're going to give it to you as a gift from the owners.

And we were just praising God and just rejoicing because it was truly a modern day miracle.
