Agriculture, the Gut Brain, Health & Happiness

Well, I am excited to share on the gut-brain connection, its connection with agriculture and happiness.

And before we begin, let's bow our heads for a word of prayer.

Heavenly Father, we are so thankful to be able to come before You just now.

I pray that Your Holy Spirit would be in here, even though this is mainly upon science and agriculture, it is all based upon the foundations of Scripture.

And so we ask that Your blessing would be with us, that Your Holy Spirit would impress us.

And even through this simple message that Jesus would be uplifted, we pray in His name.

Agriculture and its connection to health, happiness, and the gut-brain connection.

Now, this is just a very simple view of an introduction.

We actually have a whole like 5 to 6 hours somewhere in there, or almost 5 or 6 hours of material on this.

And so We're just gonna give you a little bit of it, but you're gonna get a little bit extra here because of agriculture.

This is from something called 13 Manuscript Release, page 371, where it says, "'Tell those who are sick that if the hosts "'of those who are dyspeptics and consumptives could turn farmers, they might overcome disease, dispense with drugs and doctors, and recover health." That sounds kind of nice, doesn't it?

Recover our health through changing our lifestyle.

So here's kind of a simple little definition of dyspeptic.

It is of or having indigestion or consequent irritability or depression.

Something that affects our gut can negatively impact what goes on in our minds.

This is an interesting thought, but this thought actually was birthed in the Bible.

It was kind of rejected for a long time, and right now it's cutting-edge science.

Study after study is coming out on this and so we're going to look at this.

What can agriculture do to help a dyspeptic, someone who struggles, maybe you struggle with irritability or depression, anxiety, these kind of things.

So we're going to begin to look at the research on agriculture and health.

And as we do to do this, my wife's going to come up and talk to us about the oldest study in all of recorded history.

The oldest study in recorded history has to do with the gut-brain connection.

The oldest study has to do with the gut-brain connection.

And guess where you find the oldest study in history?

This is at National Institutes of Health, NIH, 1 of the most funded medical institutions ever by the U.S.

Anyway, it says, an evolution of clinical research, a history before and beyond by James Lind and What did they find?

It says here The world's first clinical trial is recorded in the book of Daniel in the Bible.

So they look back through history and this is the first clinical trial in history.

Daniel and his friends are taken captive by who?

I was born not too far from Babylon and maybe 60 miles away from Babylon.

Anyway, so they were taken captive there and what happened to them?

They're put in the Babylonian University by the king and they have full funding by the king, right?

And as they go, they realize we don't really want to partake of everything the King is offering, right?

And what was 1 of the things they didn't want to take?

The food that the King offered them, right?

They didn't want to partake in that because they knew what the Bible taught.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with a portion of the king's meat nor with the wine which he drank.

Therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

This young man purposed in his heart that he would live according to the word of God regardless of what a major world empire thought about it." Not powerful.

He's before a world ruler and still holds on to what God wants him to do.

Says here in Daniel 1 20 and in, oh, so then the study, sorry, the study is that he tells them prove your servants how many days 10 days that's all it took 10 days and He said to give us pulse to eat and water to drink.

So anything that grew from a seed, that's what they were going to eat.

And Then after the 10 days and after the time that they spent there, it says in Daniel 1.20, it says, in all matters of wisdom and understanding that the king inquired of them, he found them to be 10 times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

10 times better than anybody else that was in the king's court.

Simple faith in God's word put these young men in a high position and with great influence.

You and I get to meet King Nebuchadnezzar someday because some teenagers decided it was worth trusting God.

We get to meet a world-ruling emperor someday because of Daniel.

You know when you read through history sometimes you're like, oh I wish I could meet that person someday.

I hope they were saved because I'd like to meet them and get a little more of the background of their story.

And that's what eternity is going to be like.

So we see that there is this connection with the gut and the brain, right?

What these young men ate affected their intellect, right?

Well, I'm going to show you a clip of our documentary called Ancient Health, 8 Secrets to Ancient Health.

And in this documentary, this is just a little clip of it.

We are going to show you what the gut-brain connection does, even to this day, not just Daniel's time.

But the main thing that folks should be concerned about is how long you live and how likely are you to get disease.

And there have been 3 major studies published on this subject, big meta-analyses.

And these meta-analyses, and only 3 big ones have been published, they show consistently that low-carb diets, in other words, low-plant-food diets, high-animal-food diets, consistently they show that they're associated with more heart disease and more death, more mortality.

If you look around the world and you look at these people in the blue zones, the average percentage of calories from carbs ranges from about 50% to about 80%.

Carbs are not the enemy, refined carbs are the enemy.

There have been a number of recent studies.

Beeshold out of Phoenix, Arizona, first she did an observational study showing that plant-based diet actually significantly improves your depression and anxiety stress score.

So the mood actually is improved when you get the right amount of carbohydrates but also the right type of carbohydrates and less protein.

Then she followed up with an interventional study, and that's where she took people who are not on a plant-based diet and put them on a plant-based diet for 2 weeks.

She also put them on a plant-based diet plus fish for 2 weeks to see which 1 would be superior and it turned out the fish diet wasn't any more superior than the carnivore diet but the plant-based diet significant dramatic changes statistically significant changes in just 2 weeks in their mental ability.

We see when people go on this diet and drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest, follow these natural remedies, that it's just like something snaps in their brain.

Superfood from the Creator’s Hand

Good afternoon, my name is Luria Perley, and we're going to start the class, Superfoods from the Creator's Hand.

Before we start, I would like to ask the Lord to bless us.

Oh dear Jesus, Thank you so much for this opportunity for us to get together at this time when there is so much need for good health.

And I pray that we will study the food that you have created for us to be in good health.

I pray that the words that you spoke in the Bible and all the research about a good health will come into our mind and will guide us in direction that what we should choose to eat, what we should plant in our garden and give us a desire to follow your original beautiful plan for humankind.

For this I pray In the name of Jesus, amen.

Really, it's kind of a little bit subjective.

So from the dictionary it says that a food considered exceptionally good for one's health and for boosting the immune system owing to its naturally high content of vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids.

So as you have noticed, the nutritional content of our food is declining.

And that's a little bit concerning for all of us because we think we're eating an apple a day, but really if we compare to 100 years ago, we're probably eating a little sliver of apple that has the same nutrition content.

So, a Growing body of research shows the nutrition content of food staples has declined as the use of high yield industrial farming practices have increased.

The commercially grown vegetables, foods and grains that we're eating today have significantly lower nutrition content than this food had 100 years ago, or even just 30 years ago.

For example, 6 minerals have declined by 22% to 39% in 14 widely grown wheat varieties developed over the past hundred years.

You probably heard about hybridization of wheat.

USD nutrient data shows that the calcium content of broccoli averaged 12.9 milligrams per gram of dry weight in 1950s, and only 4.4 milligrams.

So the difference is a little bit over 50 years, and a third of nutrition decline.

So this is a really nice study was done by New York Times on Sunday Review newspaper.

You will see the picture of an heirloom variety in comparison to the commercially grown fruits and vegetables that we're eating today.

So let's look at the first picture and it shows the crab apples, sick crab apples, in comparison to golden delicious apple that we have in the grocery store.

So the total phytonutrients, milligrams per liter of juice, over there it's over 7, 000 for crab apples, and for golden delicious it's only 71.

So it's 100 times, percentage wise, it's just decline in nutrition in just apples.

As you can see, blue corn compared to regular white corn, and they're checking for anti-sinus or phytonutrients for 100 grams of dried corn.

Wild aronia berries compared to commercially grown blue crop, I love blueberries.

But after looking at this, we also plant wild aronia berries in our garden.

But nutrition-wise, you can just dehydrate berries, put it in your granola for breakfast, or you just juice it and add to your smoothie or anything.

So wild-available new berries has 160 compared to like blue crop only 10.4.

Antioxidants measured per gram of weight and compared 2 varieties of potatoes, purple Peruvian had 171 phytonutrients and Yukon Gold has only 5 and a half.

It's like really now we think we're eating a lot of vegetables but really nutrient wise our body is starving.

So of course, oh 1 more, of course we start developing symptoms of diseases and deficiencies.

Before we jump to another subject, let's look at the greens, dandelion greens, you've probably heard how wonderful they are for our health.

And again, they checked for antioxidants level.

It's about 7 compared to iceberg lettuce.

And the carrots, purple carrots compared to orange carrots, purple carrots have number almost 39 and red is only 2.

And orange also has 2 phytonutrient content.

So again, vitamin deficiency is a big issue in nowadays.

And many times we're like, oh, I have issues with my bones, I have problems with my skin, something's peeling, oh, I have lots of dandruff and all kinds of stuff, neurological problem, and right away we go to the doctor to check it out.

And of course they're giving us medication to correct skin problem, not really addressing the cause of the problem.

Sometimes it's necessary to take medications but I really believe in our days we're overdoing the medication instead of, for example, do the blood test and see if I'm deficient in some kind of nutrients or minerals.

And I went to college and took a pharmacology class, and right away our teacher said, he's a pharmacist, he said, I just want to let you know, every single drug produces side effects.

So it's up to us to choose which route we want to go.

This quote is found from Encyclopedia of Foods and their Healing Power, Volume 2, page 31.

All drugs act on the nervous system and produce nervousness or aggravated.

However, in some cases, they may give the impression that they give momentary relief, although their negative effects soon reappears even more strongly.

So it's kind of like a band-aid, but unfortunately, the symptom, I mean the problem will come back and plus side effects of the medication.

And as you know, the supplement industry is booming.

It's very popular, especially with the flu season, people really start thinking seriously about the supplements and boosting the immune system.

Supplements can enhance a diet where there are shortfalls, But a handful of vitamins, minerals, or other dietary supplements can never take the place of a healthy diet.

And that was written by David Grotor, a registered dietitian, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association.

So from WebMD.com it says, foods are so complex, offering not only vitamins and minerals, but fiber, nutrients, like carbohydrates, protein and fats, phytochemicals, and a whole host of nutritious substances that science has not fully identified.

I'm so thankful they're saying that because God is amazing God that put so much stuff in the food that now we're living in 2021, we still cannot figure out what's really in that food that is in front of us That work together with our foods and provide the benefits of a healthy eating pattern And 400 BC hip-hop hypocrites said I Think I said right let that food be their medicine and medicine be thy food.

And I believe that is the God's original design because in Genesis 2.9, we know that God had planted amazing garden with all kinds of food.

I believe mango was just 1 of them because I love mangoes.

And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that's pleasant to the sight and good for food.

Tree of life also was in the midst of the garden.

And what's really amazing that we had never tasted some of the fruit.

You go to Indonesia, you go to Thailand and you just taste fruit that's like, wow!

I never dreamed that fruit can be so tasty.

And I'm so thankful that even after the climate change, we still have like up north in Alaska, fruit grows that is still very highly high in nutrients and minerals.

I'm from Russia and we enjoyed raspberries and strawberries pest free because nothing survives over there and pests don't survive.

So we ate a lot of raspberries and all kinds of berries without spraying.

So Revelation 22, so from Genesis to Revelation, God has a plan for us for amazing health, for good food to eat.

And the Bible ends with a verse in the midst of a street of it, and on either side of the river was there the tree of life, which bore 12 men of fruits and yielded her fruit every month.

And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

So God has a plan to provide everything for our need.

However, he has provided the need while we're here.

It's just up to us and today part of the class is to learn what is the best food for our own health and immune system.

And the Council of Dietitians ingrains fruits and vegetables and that's to be found all the food elements that we need.

And on another page 96 it says, the more we depend upon fresh fruits, just as it's picked from the tree, the greater will be the blessing.

So just by looking at this sentence, I can see that God's original plan for each of us to have a garden, to have a tree, to go to the garden, just pick it and eat it instead of depending on Walmart.

Maybe the apples brought from Washington, but they picked it maybe a month ago, 2 months ago.

So the nutrition, of course, declines if we just depend on the grocery store for our food.

So today we will discuss 6 superfoods that I chose, but again there are so many varieties that we still don't know what's truly God put in the fruits and vegetables that can be classified as superfood.

And the reason why I chose that, because I believe growing our own garden, we really need to choose wisely what we're going to put in that garden.

Because we have only so much land, We have only so much resources as a family to take care of the garden.

But this 1 that I picked, I believe are the easiest to grow because we grow our food.

And If you have any questions on how to grow anybody can answer or just ask me to I'll be happy to share How to grow it So this is a picture we took in September so that Greens that you see We plan we live in zone 6, Missouri, Arkansas And we plant greens twice 1 in the spring and colored greens from a spring and then we go ahead and plant for the winter in September, so the kale is already the new crop.

So really the goal is to grow greens all year round.
