The Two Image Makers Part 1: The Alpha Deception

My name is Brian Dunn and I taught art here at Southern for a good few years.

I'm working there as a photographer for a seed company there.

But I want to open up in a little, I guess, untraditional way, and that is I like to come before the Lord with song, just as a prayer, just to come before Him with song.

And so I'd invite you to kneel with me, and I will sing as a prayer.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right spirit in me.

Cast me not away from Thy presence, Away from Thy presence, And take not Thine Holy Spirit from me.

Purge me with yisb, and I shall be clean.

Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me to hear joy and gladness, That the bones which you've broken may rejoice.

Uphold me with your spirit free, Then will I teach transgressors your ways, And sinners shall be converted to thee.

Deliver me from blood-guiltiness O God, Thou God of my salvation my salvation.

And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness, and sinners shall be converted to Thee.

Precious Father, as we come to you with the words of David, we pray that they would be the cry of our hearts.

As we look into this great theme of your incredible love, your creative power to make beings that could be made in your image, that could learn to love in the way that you love, that could reflect you Lord.

As we look at this great subject I pray that you would fill this room with your Holy Spirit and banish any evil thoughts or interference from the enemy that would be here.

Help us to Have hearts like soil that is prepared for the seed, ready to receive it, ready to let it germinate.

We pray that your word is uplifted as we look into the subject of your art and the subject of the enemy's art.

Help us see the clear distinction, the clear power of your glory as opposed to the darkness of the enemy.

Give me wisdom Lord as I speak, give me clarity of speech and thought, sanctify my lips, cover me with your blood.

And all of us here, we ask in Jesus' name, amen.

In the first chapter of Genesis, 1 of the first things we run into is the fact that God created man in his image after we've looked at his creation of the world out of nothing.

And he says, let there be light, and I'll play this in a second.

We find out that God made man in His image.

Now that tells you that it's a very important thing to God and to His Word that He introduces in the first chapter of the Bible that man, whom he's writing to, is made in God's image.

And yet, we find out in the second and third chapter that immediately 1 comes to intercept that image.

And that battle has been going on ever since.

There's only 2 images in all of existence.

There's the image of God and there's a rival image.

All the enemy has to do is pull you 1 iota away from the image of God, cause you to accept 1 thing against the image of God as he did with Eve.

That's all he did was have her simply disobey the command of God and he had reciprocated his own image, the image of the creature.

How do we as Seventh-day Adventists, giving the 3 Angels' message, avoid and give the warning call not to allow the enemy's image to be in me, but to yield to the image of God.

That's what the 3 angels message is, yield to the glory of God.

Glory and image are used interchangeably.

This is a video I put together to explain a little bit of this.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

And God saw the light, that it was good, and God divided the light from the darkness.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, And the Word was God.

All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made, in Him was life.

And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God whose name was John.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all men through him might believe.

He was not that light, but was sent to bear witness of that light.

That was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

But as many as received him, To them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name, which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus said, As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

And this is condemnation, that light is come into the world, And men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are hidden.

For every 1 that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands, Thy walls are continually before me.

I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.

Jesus said, And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." This he said, signifying what death he should die.

The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth forever.

And how sayest thou the Son of Man must be lifted up?

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you.

Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you.

For he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be children of light.

These things spake Jesus in the bargain, and did hide himself from them.

But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him.

And we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

In the beginning God created heaven and the earth.

And God divided the light from the darkness.

Did you catch how the scripture takes the Old Testament definition of God creating light and applies it to mankind being without form and void in the New Testament, and Jesus is the light that comes into the darkness.

The Two Image Makers Part 2: The Image of Who’s Creativity

What the law could not do and that it was weak to the flesh God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh And for sin condemned sin in the flesh that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh But after the spirit false and true education The difference is 1 of the main differences.

Not the only 1 is misunderstanding in the false education of the image of God.

We will push people in the false educational system to excel in the external gifts, but we will neglect to teach them the most important thing of all, which is found in the word of God, which is humility of soul, love for others above myself.

You see, you can't teach that in a system that uses rivalry as the motivation, can you?

The little message of the Lord said, She said, what is the appeal of motive most often made to self-seeking?

She says, such education is, in my own paraphrase of it, she says, such education is not worthy to be called education.

Because that central motive, sort of like ink in the veins of a plant goes through the whole thing and just contaminates it.

Everything good apparently that we can do once it's derived from that motive is contaminated.

And that's what my life was before I was a Christian.

And unfortunately, after I became a Christian, I fell back into that same confusion.

Everything you look at in the media just about mixes good and evil.

And if you look at the pagan authors, we'll talk, look at some quotes about those.

They were gifted with great light and there was men of great intellect, but they rejected the revelation of God in nature and they had access to his word oftentimes and they rejected that.

And as a result, the gifts that God gave, which are brilliant, they used for the glory of Satan.

And Satan imparted to them special gifts in his charisma.

And people are still enchanted by them when they read their writings.

I mean, if you wanted to sit down and talk to him, he could amaze you, but don't do it.

If you wanted to look at his art, it could outstrip any human art.

He's a brilliant musician, brilliant artist.

Creatively, God did not take those gifts from him when he fell, But he threw away the gift of the righteousness when he fell and so these external gifts He uses to bedazzle us and he's using them to bedazzle the world today in the media and in the in the movies So, you know, you'll notice that are you ready or okay.

I'm gonna kneel I think we need to kneel if possible.

Oh precious Father, we thank you for your great love.

And Lord, please help us to understand what it is you want us as a last day church as laodicea what it is you want us to manifest because we know that you tell us that we are often blind and miserable and wretched and poor thinking we are rich but not manifesting the images you want it manifested, not understanding the separation between darkness and light, becoming confused over what constitutes riches when it's only the gold of Jesus' faith and goodness and love.

Help us, we pray in Jesus' name as we study this subject.

Okay, Anthony's going to talk here in about 10 minutes, so I'm going to go fast as I can without getting, leading to confusion hopefully.

Ephesians 2, if you get a chance, look at it.

In Ephesians 2, we're gonna bring it up here, hopefully, if I have time.

Ephesians 2, Paul presents 2 pictures of humanity.

Those that are under the sun manifesting His glory, and those that are under the prince of the power of the air, doing the will of Satan, even though they don't know it.

The only way you cannot be a servant of Satan is through accepting Jesus Christ.

Now, I agree, there's people in parts of the world that don't even know the name of Jesus that are yielding to his influence upon the soul.

So I'm not trying to say that you know only this sector in the West who knows about Christianity manifests the image of God.

There are natives in the jungle who, when they yield to an act of kindness, are yielding to the influence of the Holy Spirit, to what Jesus has preferred for the race, what he's made available to the race.

They don't have a full understanding, but they are yielding to the influence of God.

So I want you to understand that it's broader than just those who profess Christ.

As an artist, or an athlete, or a warrior, anybody who had a high gift, or a gift that we consider high, their job was to be propaganda agents for the empire.

You didn't sell art on the street like people do now back then.

If you had gifts, you were brought in under the empire, and your job, on pain of death, was to promote the empire.

There wasn't a whole lot of freedom back then, you know?

Was to communicate the beliefs of the ruling empire.

And the rulers fast and quickly understood the need for ecumenical measures.

You know, Egypt wanted to be a great empire, but there was a problem.

And so they figured out pretty quick that ecumenism was sometimes the best way to stay on top.

What that means is you indoctrinate other peoples.

You captivate them, like Daniel brought to Babylon.

And you treat them nicely, the heads of state from various places.

Because pretty soon, empires realized that they weren't all powerful and they had to use subvertive means to stay on top as well as show of power.

So the artists were very active in the ecumenical measure because they were the advertisers, They had their billboards on the great pyramids.

And the great sphinx and the great images, like Nebuchadnezzar's golden image, that was their billboards.

Nothing really has changed under the sun.

We've just gotten a little bit more technological with it.

The artists, actors, athletes, warriors, they were all in 1 group and that was they were agents of the empire to portray what the empire wanted, which was that that particular race of people was superior to other races And if you wanted to be superior, you needed to become part of them.

Artist skills were looked on as deified, the image of God.

After all, if you have creative ability or intellectual ability or athletic ability, isn't that the image of God?

Well, in a certain qualified sense, the skills are from God's image, from what He's made, but they're not by themselves the image of God.

In fact, they can be used against the image of God.

So I've been told over and over again, both in Christian institutions and in Non-Christian institutions that what I'm doing is manifesting the image of God when I do my art.

Just doing something skillful isn't the image of God.

Art of skills, the art of ancient Greek theater.

You know what the bottom line of Greek theater was?

If you've ever been foolish enough like me to watch Star Trek, you could probably tell me.

I used to be addicted to media a lot, and I watched all the science fiction.

I mean, to an extent, I think they're portraying the great controversy theme.

It's good and evil, bad, good, ying and yang.

It's a humanistic center, though, you notice?

Satan's interested in portraying himself in the great controversy, but always as the good guy.

The Two Image Makers Part 3: The Omega Deception and the Omega Truth

By the way, there are some books here that are from some of our pioneer authors that are really powerful.

Jones on evolutionary creation, but it has a little twist in there, it goes deeper than you expect, Evolutionary Creation.

It's a sermon he preached back in the 1890s.

And then, WW Press got The Word Made Flesh.

This is a brilliant sermon, a revival sermon preached in Australia.

The messenger of the Lord was there and said she believed the Holy Spirit was poured out in a special way in these messages, and she was elated by the message that was in these.

So yeah, I'd probably put them back there, it'd be better, And you're free to take them.

There's not that many, but if you really want more, I've got more of them.

All right, if we could settle back down, and I'll try to cover the actual subject.

And this last 1 that I intended to, I only got like quarter way through the other 2.

But I think the information itself is self-explanatory, even if we don't cover all of it.

So just a few years ago, as we're settling back in, I'll give you a short testimony.

My life, I had been an actual pastor for a few years.

Went back to Ireland, where I'm from, as a mission pastor.

I actually came back here in ministry, and she left me.

And To make a long story short, out of probably some lingering bitterness that I didn't admit and other problems that I had, I started to backslide.

And as a visual person, as an artist, I was always very interested in dramatics and the media, the visual, you know.

So I started to slide back into watching stuff that I'd given up and not wanted to watch while I was strong in the Lord.

And however, this time the Lord had led me to a wife that I didn't deserve.

And I started to destroy that family by my compromise.

And my little five-year-old boy 1 time prayed for me.

And he said, Lord, please help daddy to stop watching bad things.

And you know, all the arguments I'd had for my wife, I could intellectually argue around the tree.

I had all these reasons why I watched it, because I was informing myself of how to relate to people in the world.

That's 1 of the arguments you read in some of the literature put out about why Christians should watch trash so they can relate to others.

That would be like saying to Eve, Eve, you need to go talk to Satan at the tree so you can figure out what he's about so you can go help somebody else.

But Satan would have thought it was a good idea.

Anyway, my little boy prayed for me and all of a sudden all of my intellectual arguments were leveled And I knew that what he saw was the truth.

He saw his daddy, who was supposed to be the priest of the family, desecrating himself, watching things that were contrary to God's will and his law.

And you know, the Holy Spirit used that prayer.

I had denied the fact that I was out of control, but I saw that those things were not glory.

They were an insult to the Holy Spirit that I was watching.

No matter what argument I used, they were an insult to the Holy Spirit.

And God wanted me to consecrate my eyes like David and say, I will keep my eyes from beholding evil as entertainment.

I mean, think about the beings watching evil entertainment for entertainment.

What does that say about the nature of us?

Why would you want to be entertained by evil?

That's not where we learn truth in the media.

So anyway, I mean in the commercial entertainment media, I think we should try to find a presence there ourselves with the message of God.

But we need to not be going there to entertain people, but to save the soul of people by having the truth in there.

I got down on my knees and I just prayed to the Lord.

And so right now, I'm going to go ahead and sing a prayer song again.

For those of you that weren't here earlier, I like to, when I come to the Lord in the morning, to open up prayer with him by singing.

And you know that God will sing to us 1 day?

All the angels will quiet down and all the beautiful sounds of heaven will quiet down.

I believe there will be a pause of silence and then we'll hear maybe first a still small voice singing his love to us.

And I believe we'll become enraptured by it.

But anyway, we should sing to our Father, sing of our love to Him and thanks.

I like that great song, great and marvelous are the works, Lord God Almighty.

I invite you to kneel with me and please close your eyes.

But what I'm going to sing is a very solemn message That's in scripture that applies more to us today than it has ever before.
