Fill Me with the Spirit

I want to quickly summarize what we said last night.

I will not go through the sermon again, no worries.

But I want to emphasize this extremely important point.

I said last night that the disciples, out of fear of the Pharisees, gathered in the upper room.

And the RNY says that, and the Bible says that.

And I said last night that they were praying together.

And if you remember a Bible verse in the Old Testament that says, If my people who are called by my name would do what?

What if you say turn around from the evil ways in 1 word?

If my people would humble themselves, repent and pray, I will heal their land and answer their prayers.

The disciples, Elenoi says, gathered in the upper room because they were afraid of the Pharisees.

But, she says, in that place they recognized that they cannot change themselves and they cannot fulfill the mission that Jesus gave them and she says in total humbleness they acknowledge their dependence so they humble themselves.

You cannot go to God with a proud spirit.

And then she says they repented of their bickering and dissension and division.

And she says praying together it got them closer to God and closer to 1 another to prepare the way for the receiving of the Holy Spirit.

And I said last night that she says that they're repeating Jesus' teachings and the prophecies.

And they finally, when the Holy Spirit came, she says, quote, illuminated their mind.

When the Holy Spirit illuminated their mind, they finally understood the cross.

The disciples didn't understand the cross before.

And that's the Bible verse that I wanted to emphasize.

They understood that Jesus was the God of the prophecies.

That Jesus was the God who split the sea, who got them out of Egypt, who gave them the 10 commandments.

Can you grasp that thought that God the Holy 1 took your sin and God died for you.

And she says they finally it grasped their heart And she says their heart melted, quote, melted, and they finally loved Jesus.

They finally loved Jesus to the degree, she says, that they were ready to joyfully sacrifice their life for Him.

They knew that their testimony is going to cost them their life, yet they preach boldly.

If you are not ready to joyfully sacrifice your life for Jesus, You have never understood the cross.

When you understand what God has done for you, you will have no problem to die for Him and consider it a privilege.

And so let me start today, continuing on the same note from last night.

You remember I told you the story about my father building the church?

Well, he kept, after the police didn't manage to do anything to him, he kept building and giving Bible studies and smuggling Bibles in the country.

And I did that for many years after him and so on and so forth.

And 1 time, many years later, not that year, not 2, not 5, not 10 years, many years later, 1 time they took him to the police and they said, we just cannot stop this guy.

And they said, what can we do to stop you from giving Bible studies and bringing Bibles in our country?

And they said, we are afraid we have to do that.

And he said, for me to live is Jesus, to serve him.

It's gonna be a second and I'm gonna see him face to face.

So there is nothing you can do to stop me.

So they talked among themselves and they said, if we kill him, we make him a martyr.

The whole city, the whole country knows this guy.

In the morning, they came with specific white dress, unusual dress.

And they opened the room and they said, you can go home.

He started to bleed from nose, from ear, to have diarrhea with blood, to lose his hair, his nails.

And the doctor said, you have been irradiated.

His spine stopped working, his body stopped working, everything.

The doctor gave him a couple of weeks to live.

I remember I prayed like never before in my life.

I prayed, Lord, you have done so much for my father.

So, and I started to enumerate the miracles.

You have done this and that and that and that.

Oh, I know you can do it again, Lord, and I have faith.

And I prayed and I prayed and the whole church prayed and everybody fasted, nothing happened.

And I remember right 2 hours before he died, we were around his bed.

And we prayed, and Lord, we know you can even resurrect him.

He said, if he wanted me to live, I would.

And if he wants me to die, who am I to say different?

And then he said to me, you know, under big trees, nothing grows.

He said, many people in our church say that they love Jesus, but nobody works.

Sometimes you cut a tree that is too big, so the small ones will develop.
