We have 6, I think it's 6 baptisms tomorrow.

We had 15 baptisms last week, and we had 9 baptisms the week before, all coming out of people that found, they found, I don't know if it can come up on this monitor as well, I'll have to be looking backwards, but anyway, all that found that they wanted to identify more fully with Christ and faith community, And it's very humbling that that's been happening there.

We have at Weimar, as this comes up, we have 4 silos really that work together.

1 is what's called the New Start Program, which some of you are familiar with that acronym.

And then we have 11 day programs, 19 day programs there, and we have a chaplain that works with a group of physicians there.

Then we have the depression recovery program where we have a group of physicians that works there and I do the chaplaincy for that program.

And then we have a clinic, a rural health clinic that sees about 50, 000 patients a year And we have a chaplain that works there.

And then we have what's called total community involvement where our students and staff go out every week for 4 to 5 hours in the community in the middle of the week and try and well it's very simple approach we ask people do you have you need help with something whatever they say we try and help them with that and this is kind of revolutionized our school And then right in the middle of all that, we have a church.

And every 1 of those intersect with the church.

We have an elementary school, and we have a academy or a high school.

Truth be told, God, my crew is here to provide eyes to be no more deaf or moaning or crying or pain.

This is ultimately, you know, what we wanna see as soon as possible.

I remember I worked as a trauma nurse for a number of years and the physician I worked with, he was kind of a, he was the kind of guy that just really did want to help people and so he would linger by the doors.

And if he didn't have a patient that he was seeing, he would go out to the parking lot.

And I can still remember vividly, he's talking to a patient, and the patient was, I think, passing a kidney stone.

And he said, you know, we got more pain medication than you had pain.

And he just, you know, it was that kind of an attitude.

Well, I don't know if that's a great philosophy, but you understand what I'm saying.

He wanted to erase the pain as soon as possible.

So in the magazine, it actually has a timeline where it goes through and explains the philosophy of Adventist health.

And right in the middle of that timeline, it has the great physician Jesus.

And it talks then about how Jesus is kind of a universal figure, that people revere him all over the world.

And then I asked Judson exactly what he wanted me to talk about.

He said, give the scriptural foundation for health and healing.

And then it has the section, head injury, disabled hands, swelling, bleeding, blindness, and it has all the text listed concerning Jesus.

So I would refer you to your own magazine in terms of just an overview.

And then it has critical conditions, inability to speak, paralysis, fever, hearing, skin disease, mental illness, disabled legs, and death.

And of course, the only criticism I have of the magazine at all is that it's only the New Testament, because Jesus is also the author of the Old Testament, okay?

He was there, and this informs, and I'll come back to that later, but that is even more robust.

I've spent a lot of time with a lot of physicians and a lot of doctors' offices, consulting them about how to bring faith into their practice and helping them with these things.

And the Bible is just an amazing book once you begin to understand what it's saying, and it's so practical.

And today I had 5 visits with different patients.

And the amazing thing is how relevant the Bible can be.

And it's just knowing what is happening with the patient, and knowing what the Bible says about it and bringing those 2 things together?

And usually people have roadblocks towards the Bible, you know I'm not going to talk about that tonight, but I could but there's there's a number of roadblocks In fact, I'm writing a book right now called The Bible is Hate Speech.

And so some people think the Bible is anti-women, anti-black, anti-Native American, anti-LGBT, anti-science.

And so if you're not addressing those issues, you're probably not gonna move forward very much with people in terms of the text.

I'm not saying that, I don't take an apologetic approach where I'm saying, hey, look, These are the things you're probably thinking about.

I want to share something a little different with you tonight.

But first of all, let me just say, your magazine said, with all these texts in mind, does the medical specialties, diseases practiced in the 21st century terms would include these.

Chaplaincy, dermatology, emergency medicine general surgery gynecology infectious disease internal medicine neurology nutrition ophthalmology orthopedics learn geology Pathology nutrition ophthalmology again, I guess I added some more I's in there, orthopedics, I guess I'm repeating things now, pediatrics, pharmacology, physical therapy, psychiatry, psychology, psychotherapy, radiology, and social work.

Did any of you here tonight identify with any of those?

So, In other words, the Bible is talking about all those areas and probably another thing that I've noticed is that people, well, I deal mostly with depression and anxiety in the work that I do these days, aside from teaching at the university, et cetera.

But the studies show that you can get better anywhere from 15 to 70% sooner if you can identify with your vague values.

And so I'll usually show people that and ask them if they have a faith, if they'd like to identify with that, if they'd like to robust that.

And most of the time they do, 9 times out of 10.

And my approach is, I mean tonight it sounds like I'm talking, but my approach when I first meet people is 1 of listening.

So I do a lot of very careful listening, and I can talk about that a little more later on.

And I just thought tonight, maybe just very practically, I would go through a presentation that I make with people that are of faith, that are not of faith, based on Psalm 139.

So even this week I probably met with 30 people that were not of particular faith.

And 1 of them actually, interestingly enough, was from Ukiah that was down in that area, taking advantage of the services of 1 of the places that I do spiritual care for.

So, let's just pray again and ask God to bless us as we look at this psalm tonight.

Father in heaven, bless us as we study your word as it relates to health and healing.

So Psalm 139, I usually start not at the beginning of the psalm, but verse 13 through 16.

Let's read it together if you can read it with me.

For you formed my inward parts, you covered me in my mother's womb.

I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well.

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Your eyes saw my substance being yet unformed, and in your book they all were written the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them." What do you get out of these verses?

What are they saying to you just call it out if you would like to what are they saying?

God is the Creator God is all-knowing He did he did what for us He prepared for us before we were ever born.

Does he know everything that happened with our development, arrested or otherwise, right?

Many times with our depressed patients, we do genetic testing.

And We have all kinds of lab tests that are cooking during the first several days of the program so we can figure out from all different angles, Dr.

Nedley oversees the medical part of that, and he's getting all these things coming back, and there are a lot of genetic factors now that we are beginning to identify and actually help treat.

Would you say that's a good summary of those first verses?

Oh, Lord, You have measured me and known me.

You know my sitting down and my rising up.

"'You comprehend my path and my lying down, "'and are acquainted with all my ways.
