While It Is Day

That was not what I expected to see, but that's okay.

We're sad that the speaker who was going to be here today was not able to, who got sick, so we're praying for his speedy recovery.

But I'm excited to be here to have a Bible study with you, to talk about a concept that I think is so important to consider, especially for the times that we live in.

It's important to know the times that we live in, amen?

I think it's important to know the times that we live in.

How many of you enjoyed that hymn that we sang, that last hymn this morning, amen?

You know, that's the remarkable thing about this beautiful hymnal that we have to sing songs from.

I mean, there's like 600 and something songs in here, and I know like 5 of them, right?

Because we sing the same 5 over and over again, and then we like throw in that 1 that you know, and then we add it, but then we forget it and go back to the same 5 that we know.

Sometimes they just kinda go through our minds and right out our mouths, don't they?

The lyrics from that song that we sang this morning, the hymn says, but until then, my heart will go on singing.

There's nothing greater to think about, in my opinion, than the second coming of, I love thinking about the second coming of Jesus.

And as we're singing that song, you know, it's so easy for life to become difficult.

When our eyes are focused on the second coming of Jesus, our heart can go on singing, right?

You know, when you sing songs like that, it's like, wait, how can you go on singing through a storm?

It's simple, I see the light at the end of the storm.

Like my eyes are on the second coming of Jesus, right?

It's like, how can I, with courage and strength, carry on when life is literally falling apart around me?

Oh, it's quite simple, because my eyes are on Jesus at the end, amen?

Like, my eyes are on the second coming of Christ, you know?

I remember back when I was a little bit more into investing than I currently am now.

As med students, you don't have that luxury anymore, I learned.

I guess school is an investment, but it just, anyway, it feels different.

So, And I remember, I had some ideas and some plans, and someone's like, well, what if it falls apart?

And what if it doesn't work out and you lose money?

I looked at them and I smiled and said, it's actually okay, it really doesn't matter actually what happens in life.

Like whether rich or poor, Christ will return, amen?

Like whether big house or shed, Christ will still return.

Like regardless of what happens over the next 50 or so years, Christ will still return.

Like it doesn't matter what happens over this like minuscule period of time, it all ends the same.

Like Christ returns in the clouds of heaven, I go to live with my Savior forever.

So what if things don't work out like I thought here for the next 20 or 30 years?

That's okay, because my eyes are beholden the city, amen?

Like my eyes are beholden the Lamb of God and that should always give you strength and courage to sing and carry on.

Semi-related to the sermon, I just love the song and wanted to talk about it for a few minutes.

Today we're gonna talk about an idea that I think's important.

We're talking about our example today and how we can learn from His example.

And some of the things we may share may be hard to put into practice, but hopefully you can keep that song in mind, that you can keep that idea in mind and that can give you strength and courage to maybe try something new.

Father, bless us now as we study your word.

We invite your Holy Spirit to speak to us individually and personally.

We invite you into our minds and into our hearts to change us, to transform us, that by beholding, we might become more like you.

Protect our minds from our vibrating cell phones.

Protect our minds from our hungry stomachs.

Protect our minds from the things that Satan might use to take advantage to draw our minds away from you at this hour and help us to have a divine focus and concentration that we might learn from you.

For me as well, Lord, help me to learn of you today.

Today's message is entitled, While It Is Day, Following Christ's Example.

Did you know Jesus is your example, amen?

Fundamental principle of Christianity, Christ is your example.

If you ever don't know what to do in life, who can you look to first?

I had the privilege of working in the church at the union and other places and different various conferences in this union and in other unions.

And what I learned is working with people can be challenging, amen?

Even when you're like-minded, for some reason, there's still a lot of differences amongst people.

I remember every time I had a situation where I had a hard time dealing with a person, a human being, I would try to find them in scripture.

Like, okay, Jesus, you met someone like this.

Help me to find it and help me to see how you pose and how you handle this.

But there is a good example of that if you want to ask me when I'm not being recorded, I'd love to share it with you.

Let me give you some scriptures because at the end of the day, the last person you should trust is a preacher, amen?

You should always trust the word of God, check the word of God for yourself.

This is something that you should make a common practice for yourself as a Christian in this time period that we live in.

1 John 2, verse 6, the word says, he who says he abides in Him, speaking of abiding in Jesus, ought himself also to walk just as he, yeah, just as he walked.

If you say that you are 1 with Jesus, and just think it through logically.

If you are 1 with Jesus, like abiding in Him, you're 1 with Him, you're connected with Him, are you the 1 leading or is Jesus the 1 leading?

You guys all paused way too long on that 1.

We should be leading or Jesus should be leading?

All right, so if Jesus is leading and I'm connected in 1 with Jesus, I'm gonna walk where he, and that's all the text is saying.

If you abide in Jesus, If you connect with Jesus, if this is what you claim and say, then you should walk as he walked, and it just makes sense.

1 Peter 2, 21 says it differently, says it this way.

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us a what?
