The True Medical Missionary

Well, I'm excited to be here with you today to study, to think on some ideas, some challenging ideas, things for us to consider, things for us to reconsider.

It's gonna be a little bit different if you've heard me speak before.

This isn't gonna be a normal Bible study.

The reason why is because I would need you for 3 sessions if I were going to do all straight pure Bible study.

So I will be using a lot of quotations to summarize concepts and ideas.

So if you have questions, by all means, feel free to email me or ask me.

I will be gone right after the message because I will be going to the VA hospital today.

But yes, it's a message entitled to challenge our thinking, to help us to reevaluate and to reconsider how we're living in light of the fact that Christ is coming soon, amen?

And with every passing day, I believe that more.

And I'm constantly reevaluating my own life and constantly reevaluating how I'm choosing to live and interact in light of the things that God has said in his word.

So that being said, let's pray, and we're gonna get into it today.

Father, bless us as we think on these things, as we read your word, as we look to the guidance of inspiration, we invite your Holy Spirit to speak to us, Lord.

If we need to be convicted today, Lord, convict us.

If we need to be encouraged today, encourage us.

Lord, if we're broken and we need some balm from Gilead, mend us, Lord.

You know what we need, and you can take your word and do anything with it.

Speak to everyone individually and personally.

At the same time, challenge us, Lord, to be mindful of the reality that Christ is coming soon.

Excuse me, today's message is entitled, I struggle with titles, so forgive the title.

Present Truth, Living for the Last Days, about the best I can come up with.

And I want to start with this idea that, Did you know that the Bible has whole sections, whole chapters, whole portions that are dedicated to the last days?

Okay, what's 1 of the books that comes to mind?

Could throw out some Daniel as well, amen?

Chapters, just chapters in the Bible, last days.

Good, I'm hearing some different ones from the gospels.

There are chapters dedicated, and I had this epiphany, this thought, and it's not like it's a new thought.

I know that there's Revelation and Matthew 25 and Matthew 24 and others like it, chapters and passages about the time before Christ is coming soon.

And I thought to myself, as someone who believes Christ is coming soon, how much time have I recently spent in the portions of the Bible that describe what it's gonna be like before he returns?

That was a fair question to ask myself, right?

That was a fair challenge, particularly the chapters about what the world will be like before he returns, and even more particularly, what the church will be like when he returns.

And if you really want to go micro, those that will look up and say, this is my God I have waited.

And those that will look up and say, this is the wrath of the Lamb, hide me from him.

And often we don't think about those things, but I think we should think about those things.

And So that leads us to today's presentation, today's sermon, whatever you want to call it.

And it's gonna sound like 3 points that don't, or 2 points that don't make sense, but the third point is to connect these 2 points.

So the first thing I wanna talk about with you today is the seal of God.

What is the seal of God from the book of Revelation?

The thing that separates those at the end of times that are ready for the lamb of God and those who are not.

I then want to talk about medical missionary work.

I know it sounds very, it sounds like very, too complete.

Like I said, it should be a three-part session, forgive me.

2 separate, but I wanna talk about this idea, this term that we use called medical missionary work.

And the last point, I want to actually connect seal of God with medical missionary work.

So I wanna start with this idea, what is the seal of God?

Again, this would normally be its own full presentation by itself, this will be crash course and I'll do my best to be clear.

But Revelation chapter 7, verse 2 and 3, and by the way, if you have your own Bibles, feel free to follow along.

The verses are on the screen for ease of preaching and also ease of following along.

But if you have your own Bibles, I always encourage you to follow along in your own translation.

So Revelation chapter 7, Excuse me, beginning in verse 2.

The Bible says here, Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God.

And he cried with a loud voice to the 4 angels, to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.

So, looking at this text here, we see here this idea in the book of Revelation that God wants to do something for his people at the end of time, and what is that thing that he wants to do for them?

How do you want the seal of the living God, amen?

That's why I like Peter so much in the Bible, amen?

And here it's describing this group of people.

Later on in the chapter, it describes this group of people.

And I heard the number of those who were sealed.

144, 000 of all the tribes of Israel were sealed.

So we kind of got a name for this group now.

Now we're not going to get into the literal or symbolic.

If you want to have that discussion, come find me on one-on-one.

The point is, that's what we're gonna call them.

That's the name that the Bible gives them.

So 144, 000, that group receives the what?

So 144, 000 seal of God, where do they receive the seal at?

Later in Revelation, describing the same group of people, it says a very similar thing with 1 minor change that you cannot miss.

And as a young Christian who studied Revelation and heard and I've attended many Revelation seminars, I realized looking back, I had never heard this really emphasized or this word kind of highlighted.
