Why did God create hell? Or maybe a better question is, what is hell, exactly? Many of us have grown up understanding hell is somewhat contrary to God’s character—You’ll find that not all interpretations of the word “hell” mean enterally burning forever and ever in. lake of fire. As a matter of fact, none of them do. You may be thinking, “What!!?? How could that be?” Instead of an eternity in torment, the Bible teaches that those who do not accept God’s love and salvation will simply cease to exist. This is a much more compassionate view than what many may think about hell. In fact, in Romans 6:23, Paul explains that “the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” This implies that those who choose not to accept God’s free gift of salvation are simply condemned to death eternally rather than any kind of extended suffering. Ultimately, it is clear that while hell remains a complex and necessary concept to understand, it does not represent an eternity of pain and punishment but rather a merciful release. If you want to know the truth about hellfire from a Biblical perspective and how God’s love transcends all things, join Gary, Dee, and Christy in this discussion on hellfire.
