God’s Dream

My name is Jason Churchwell, and I've come all the way from the South.

And if you get a chance to go to Hilton Head with Amen, it's amazing.

We can just drive there and I highly recommend it.

Thank you for that special music and I will say to those who who let out in the songs this morning, hymn 606 is my favorite hymn And so that was really special for me to hear it.

We attend the Southern Adventist University Church and they never sing that hymn.

And so it was really nice to hear it today.

Incredible the things that are happening there.

So I'm here with a supporting ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Child Impact International, and I understand that someone came and spoke here last year.

How many of you have heard of Child Impact?

Was anyone here ever sponsored by Asian Aid or Child Impact as a child growing up?

We sponsor about 5, 000 students who attend Adventist mission schools each year.

And then we also run a program that we call Operation Child Rescue, and that's where we rescue kids from human trafficking and exploitation, and that's what I'm gonna talk about today.

And so whenever I travel, I like to ask people, kids in schools where we visit, what is your dream?

Now there's not so many kids here, but maybe some college students.

Would someone be willing to share with us what is your dream?

What do you want to be when you get older or maybe you're at a point in your life where you're thinking about a transition and you have some dreams?

Usually every hand is raised because someone wants to share something.

You want to write a cookbook fantastic I like to eat Anyone else yes Social worker fantastic that's a great dream Anyone else want to share their dream?

Well when I travel I always ask people, what's your dream?

And this is a picture of some kids that I met on the Thai-Myanmar border.

In Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, they have the longest running civil war in the world today.

And I asked the kids, these kids, they were living in this little bamboo shack.

They were brought by motorcycle, by boat, and by car, and many of them hadn't spoken to their family in years.

They didn't know if their families were still alive, actually.

They didn't know how to get back to them.

And these kids said, when I finish school, I want to go back.

The boy said, I want to serve in the military in the army Because I want to protect my family.

I want to protect my village the girl said I want to be a nurse I want to be a health care worker so I can go back and serve the sick people in my community.

This is a picture of a favela in Sao Paulo.

And usually people make houses from like recycled bricks, pieces of tin, and they put these little makeshift houses together.

And we have an after school program for the kids there.

And these kids come, And they have a safe place where we teach them English.

And this lady, her nickname is actually the Joker.

Everyone calls her the Joker because she's normally drinking wine and she has wine stains on the side of her mouth.

And we had gone, we were supposed to visit her in the morning, we were delayed, and so we didn't get there until the afternoon, and she was already drunk that afternoon when we went and visited her and took this photo.

But we asked the kids, What's your dream here in Brazil, living in the slums?

And a lot of the kids said they wanted to be police officers so that they could protect other children from the violent crime that they were witnessing on the streets every day.

This is a photo from the Philippines, specifically the island of Palawan.

It's ranked the most beautiful beaches in the world.

So I haven't gone to the beach, but I've been to Palawan.

And like what you said, a lot of kids in Africa have never been to the ocean.

These kids live on the island of Palawan up in the mountains and they've seen the ocean in the distance, but they've never been to the beach.

And we all travel from all over the world to go to their beaches.

And we support 11 different schools there on the island of Palawan.

And then we're also building a rescue campus for the kids to come down and finish their high school, protecting kids from child marriage.

And I asked the kids up in the mountains, I was like, what's your dream?

And they said, we want to be helicopter pilots and teachers because those were their heroes.
