Casting the Vision for Your Life and Your Church, Part 1

Well, we want to welcome each 1 of you for coming to this seminar, which is extremely important for our spiritual journey with the Lord, not only for our spiritual journey with the Lord, but in life in general.

By the way, let me start by saying my name.

If you notice on a little bit of accents, it's because I'm Cuban.

I'm coming from the islands of Cuba, and I have the privilege to serve here in Thomasville, Georgia.

As a pastor, I have 2 English-speaking churches, and I'm happy to be here.

So today we're going to be talking about vision.

Vision is 1 of the most important things.

Recently—well, why we don't start with a prayer before we continue.

Father in heaven, what a privilege we have to be here today to talk about vision.

What a wonderful thing is to plunge ourself into the vision of God for our life.

Lord help us now, give us wisdom and understanding and help us to apply vision that we may be victorious in everything we do because Your desire for each 1 of us is to prosper in every aspect of our life.

Be with those that are coming on the way.

When we talk about vision, You know, MIT did a research recently.

They took 50 people, 50 wealthy people, and they did a research on them.

There were a couple of student that they did research on them and they studied them, They studied their success, they studied why in the world they make so much money and how they can increase, the ultimate purpose of the research was to increase performance and success in the student in the university.

Well, after they studied them for a year, they realized that all of them come from different background, different settings.

Some of them were very poor when they start, some of them came from wealthy family, but all of them have 1 thing in common.

At the end of the research, when the students submit the paper to the whole academic school, they find out that 1 thing they have in common was vision.

Vision is what make people success in life.

In fact, 1 of my favorite quote come from Robert.

Robert Shuler was a man of vision and he used to say this, the world of tomorrow belongs to the people who had the vision today.

The world of tomorrow belongs to people that had vision today.

Many people always complain to God and I have seen people in my ministry, I have seen people saying, Pastor, I don't know why God bless other people and they don't bless me.

And I want to tell you something, folks, God is in the business of blessing you to save you and to give you life.

And the Bible says, I have come to give you life and life abundantly.

Meaning that God is enjoying himself when he give you good things.

The problem with the problem is that the problem is not God the problem is us.

Many time people don't have vision to carry on God's plan for our life.

Lewis, 1 of the greatest men I ever lived, about talking about church and evangelism, And he had the opportunity to travel to a country that was a tiny little country that was—they have A few people living in just a session in 1 country, was very poor country, and he had the opportunity to go with it.

And when he got to that village—that's the word I was looking for, village—they got to that village, they realized, the evangelistic thing, realized that those people were living in such a poor condition.

More than half a percent of people that were living in the island were not reached to the age of 40 or 50.

So they felt compelled into their heart to help them.

Lewis gathered together some influential people, people with money, and they said, let's help them.

So 1 day, they visit every house in that village, and they give him a little bit of money.

And With that money, at least they have for 1 year to succeed.

You know, today we don't have money, the money that we have in our banks on time doesn't carry us to a whole year, but in that place, a little bit of money lasts for a whole year.

So they have at least 1 year of worry free.

The interesting thing about this story is that when he gave all the money to those people, Some of them begin to use it right away.

Some people that have vision, cut the vision and say, okay, let's make things better for our family.

But he noticed some people that didn't have vision at all.

Instead, they used the money, they roll it up like a little cigar, and they use it as match it to transfer fire from 1 place to the other.

And he said, I can't believe that they are doing that.

At the end of the day, just thinking about what happened, he say this, the poorest man is not the man that doesn't have money.

The poorest man is the 1 that doesn't have vision.

God can give you plenty of blessing, but if you don't know how to utilize those blessings, you become very poor.

So it is important to understand that the world of tomorrow, and when I think about the world of tomorrow, I'm not thinking about early things.

When I think about the world of tomorrow, think about heaven, for example.

The heaven of tomorrow is for the people that have the vision today.

1 of the problem with the Church of Laodicea when you study the churches 1 of the problem is that they think they see but God says you guys are blind.

In fact, 1 of the problems through the history of the Israelites were that they were killing their prophets and God revealed himself through the prophets.

Their vision, they killed the vision and they no longer were able to see.

So the purpose of this seminar is to help you at least to understand that you have a purpose in life.

God create you for his pleasure, but You can succeed in life, in this life and in the life to come, if you have vision.

Look what it says, true Godly vision is not a man's idea.

For the Bible said that every good things that comes to us come from the Father above nothing good come from us everything come from our father above.

This is 1 of my favorite texts in the Bible.

Every time that I go in through some struggle, every time that I go in through some problems in my life, every time that I'm dealing with churches, this is 1 of the passes that I always study.

Look what it says, for I know the plans that I have.

Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.

You know, a lot of people can't live their life without many things.

In fact, I'm from Cuba, and in Cuba, people are very poor.

You used to live your life in a very simple way.

You can get away with a lot of stuff, but 1 thing that you cannot live without is hope.

You kill hope in people, you destroy them completely.

And God is saying, I have big plans for you.

You know, when we get to heaven, I just imagine that we're going to get together with the angels and we're going to see our history, we're going to see our life, we're going to see how many blessings we receive from the Lord, and how many times the angel protect us and kept us safe.

But also I can imagine them saying, man, you missed some blessings.

God want to bless you so much when you were living in this place, or when you were going through school, or when you were doing this.

But because you didn't have vision, you were not able to carry on.

George Barnes says this, vision is a clear mental what?

Casting the Vision for Your Life and Your Church, Part 2

Well, in our first session, we talk about personal vision.

We want to combine a little bit of both personal vision and collective vision.

But in this session, we're going to be talking more about how to be a successful leader when you have a vision for your church and people don't embrace what you're visioning.

You get discouraged, you get to the point that I don't know how many of you have said, you know what I will not even try it anymore.

But hopefully this presentation will help you to understand how to reach those kind of people and not to be discouraged because I do believe that God have every person, every person in the church have a vision that can be so beneficial for the body of Christ, if people embrace it, of course.

Father in heaven, we thank you so much 1 more time for allowing us to study about vision.

Lord, we have seen personal vision, but we're gonna see now collective vision.

Help us to have discernment when it comes to approach people and embrace together the vision that your church could finish the work that you have sent us to do.

Okay, the number 1 thing that we need to see when we talk about vision for your church, you need to be aware of your congregation or your people that you are surrounded with.

This is very, very important how just to start.

I thought that I was missing something, but David.

In church you will have people that are devoted.

People that whatever time you call them, it doesn't matter, you tell them to do something, they will do it.

People that are capable, people that are faithful, people that are committed, and people that always are the least complainers in church.

Because they're always busy doing the things that the Word says that they need to be done.

So 1 thing that you need to do when you embrace, you know, you want to sell vision in your department.

Let's say let's suppose that you are in charge of the youth leader department in this and that department you will have people this kind of people that we're going to see today.

So the first thing that you need to do in order to cast vision into your congregation.

You need to know well your people you remember what we talk about in the first presentation.

You need to have an accurate understanding of God accurate understanding of self, but when it comes to church is accurate understanding of people and accurate understanding of opportunity.

So, understanding God, understanding people, and understanding opportunity.

Always have them in priority in your list.

Meaning, for example, when I got to the church, I did a gift inventory, and in the first year, I observed the church to see how they were doing.

But the second, by the second year, I knew already with whom I can count and whom I have to be away from.

It's important to understand that because vision you remember what Jesus said the wheat and the tare will always grow together.

So when you come with God's vision, Satan's that have his own people sometimes sitting in church worshipping with you will embrace those people to destroy your vision for the church.

You need to understanding devoted people in your department, whether music, whether any department that you are in charge in church.

When it comes to vision for the church, you need to know devoted people.

People that are always praising you and saying, let's go, let's do it.

They are the fan in the church, avoid them.

We're talking about vision for the church right now.

I don't know how many of you have done this in the past, but when I was in college, and even when I was not in college, I always have good friends and bad friends.

You know, good friends, when they see you doing something wrong, they will stop you.

Bad friend always going to praise you when you're doing something bad.

But when you do that, they are not the 1 that's jumping.

In church you will have people that will come with great ideas and say, Pastor, I have this great idea.

Because you are the 1 that's going to be exercising that vision, that idea, and they are the big fan, but just only fans.

So, in church you need to understand people.

Vision, people that have an accurate vision for their life understand God accurate, and they understand people accurate, and they understand circumstances accurate.

We have people that are vessel in church.

Those poor people, you can, they throw everything, the good and the bad to those people.

They are the recipient people of the church.

They are good to understand because when you cast a vision, you have to have in perspective all kind of people because well-known, well-known successful companies always have this in mind.

Success depends not in having people in the bus, on the bus, but having people sitting in the bus in the right seat on the bus I'm saying in the bus is right or is on the bus yes sitting in the right seat on the bus.

True success in life is getting people sitting in the right seat in the bus.

Sometime when it comes to nominating committee, we make the big mistake.

We don't have people, let's put somebody.

That's the worst thing that you could do because you have a whole year of suffering having someone that is not capable to do the right thing at that moment.

If you don't have something, I always say this to my churches, If we don't have people for the ministry, let's cut it out for this year and next year if we have somebody else that is capable, let's put it on.

But don't add, don't do things just because of doing it because you will pay the price.

So you will have devoted people, Go away from the fan.

Now by the way, you remember in the Bible when a fan was shouting, Peter, these men are men of God.

And Peter was tired of that and he looked at that demon possessed girl, you remember that, said, get away from me Satan.

And basically stopped them right there because it was destroying the ministry.

Sometimes people that praise you are the 1 that destroy your ministry.
