What Happened After Peter Received the Holy Spirit?

God, have mercy on us indeed, because our danger is just to have a nice meeting, inspirational meeting, and walk out and say, that was a great story.

We need the moving, the mighty moving of your Holy Spirit.

So now, as the Spirit of God convicts us, we ask that you would even show us what to ask you, Father, for in regards to the Holy Spirit in this room right now tonight.

And God, finally, if There is brokenness in any relationships that are represented here in this room.

Let the Spirit of God bring conviction and humility and a humbling of hearts 1 on 1 and healing between people.

Move tonight in the story of Peter and any other illustration you choose to give me from what I've just seen over the last few months.

Move here freely among us and stir our hearts beyond our complacency.

Light a fire in our souls for Jesus Christ before it's too late.

Can you imagine how it sounded in the upper room when they sang?

I invite you when you get up from your knees, team up in the teams of fours.

As soon as you're in teams of fours, please open your Bibles to Acts chapter 1.

Jesus said this, for John baptized with water but you will be what?

You'll be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.

Like we should not be only friends to ourselves.

I have Pentecostal friends, and I wanna say this from my heart.

I have Pentecostal friends that Have a sacrificial love for Jesus beyond probably me and most of us in the room So I say that's very respectful of what I'm about to say.

So I really see that God has many precious people in the Pentecostal movement.

The Pentecostal movement does not own, with all due respect, this topic.

What I'm saying is the baptism of the Holy Spirit is biblical teaching and we are often afraid of it as Seventh-day Adventists.

And so we sometimes even hide behind the correct truth, my friends, but are lacking the spirit that is supposed to go along with the truth.

And I say that gently because if you already heard my testimony through the other 2 messages I am 1 of them that has minimized the Holy Spirit too long of my life.

If you agree then should we not be crying out to God for this gift?

He told us we should do that in Acts chapter 1.

He told the early disciples, but this also applies to us, we should be crying out.

Many times our life and our ministry is defined by our busyness, not how Holy Spirit filled we are.

But when the Holy Spirit fills us and saturates us, he does things that you and I could never do on our list.

He works with very flawed people, because look what he did with Peter.

And if he can do a mighty work in Peter, he can do a mighty work through you and through me.

I love these footprints all the way across.

And it shows the grace of Jesus through this man's life, right?

And by the way, have you ever taken the time to make a timeline of your life from birth until now to see the mighty acts of God and His grace in your life?

If you have not done it, this would be an era to do it.

Because we need to grow in confidence of how He's led us in the past.

We're told if we would remember how He led us in the past, it would do what?

Because we would know how He's led us in the past.

Jesus said to this group that He told them, wait.

Now remember this group was eager to tell the world that Jesus not only what?

Died on the cross, but he also rose again and that he's in heavenly places and he's coming again.

And they were ready to tell the whole world.

And Jesus said the strangest thing, wait.

Have we done that in this remnant movement?

Have we actually obeyed the command of Jesus?

Well, Jesus says in verse 8, you'll receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses, both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.

Did he look very closely, because we have different translations, of course, here in this big of a room.

Did Jesus say you'll receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall do witnessing projects from time to time?

I've done many, many, many, and so have you.

But let's not forget that there's something deeper than that.

It's to be Holy Spirit filled so that we are a walking witness all the time.

Because otherwise we can have an idea as Seventh-day Adventists that this Sabbath afternoon we're going to do this witnessing project at this time in this place and then we're done and we go whoo-hoo now we can do our own thing.

So we do not turn off being a witness and turn it on.

He guides us through the day and as we walk through our business during the days of the week, as we walk through, as if you're a student, as you go into classes, whatever you're doing, We are a walking witness for Jesus.

If we're lit by the Spirit of God, anything can happen in those encounters.

Anything can happen for the glory of God.

It's intended that our life and our living now would be a holy adventure with Jesus Christ every single day.

If not, he's ready to give this adventure to you.

But your adventure will be different than the man or the woman, the young person sitting next to you.

We don't need to, it's not better than someone else.

It's just the Holy Spirit's ready to fill us up, change us, transform us, make our heart like Jesus here, but also give us fearlessness in our witness.

But look around you for a moment, just look around, it's okay, Usually we say don't look around, but it's okay.

We don't have the same giftedness, right?
